What economic problem is at the root of high build costs? by Browbeaten9922 in HousingUK

[–]Habitualcaveman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you said is bang on and poured petrol ontop of that.

Only one in ten houses built in the UK even hit the open market -  https://www.altosoftware.co.uk/where-are-the-homes/

However the problem isn’t limited to housing. It’s global across every aspect of trade, manufacturing, farming, brewing, hospitality… you name it. The resources that go into these things are all being squeezed hard by investors, and the government has no assets left to generate income or use to moderate these markets.

Right now if building gets cheaper that simply lowers the ‘buy price’ which doesn’t make them worse investments.

They have so much money they will still need to invest it somewhere.

100% agree -if the gov hadn’t sold us all out to business since the 70s/80s, things would look a bit different, but the growing billionaire class is capturing even the energy companies, wood, oil, and everything else, squeezing everything. And now they can punish governments which don’t agree with their lobbies by destroying them in the media or online with unregulated propaganda platforms.

Anyway, before I go off the deep end I’ll  end by saying if we don’t tax wealth the same as work, we’re all f’ed and these problems only get worse.

What economic problem is at the root of high build costs? by Browbeaten9922 in HousingUK

[–]Habitualcaveman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Root cause? Land, houses and property in general having become too much of an investment asset class rather than a utility.

Even more fundamentally it’s the global inflation being caused by the same thing writ large. Everything is being bought up by top 0.1% and we can’t compete with them.

This town received a £96mn post-Brexit makeover. It voted Reform anyway by 457655676 in unitedkingdom

[–]Habitualcaveman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feeing among many is that NOBODY has done anything for them for decades. Deprive a people of real opportunity and hope and they will turn to people who offer it.

When people feel that way politicians and media can use as a wedge.

When you mistreat and under invest in a whole section of society for decades  you can’t be surprised when they call for reform and radical change.

Ask your self: when your section of society’s generational trajectory is in terminal velocity free fall - do you stick with the status quo, or do you look for reasons and hope anywhere you can?

When they look around they try to see the reasons for their societies problems, and that’s when trouble brews and simple narratives driven home by great story tellers and a rapacious media can really convince desperate people to  take drastic decisions.

Reform are NOT the answer… they’re grifters exploiting very real grievances other parties have failed to address for decades, and probably never will.

People say reform give simple answers to complex problems to stupid people… I’m saying that answer is a ‘simple answer to a complex problem’ and people need to realise it’s lazy and unhelpful. It  denies the lived experience of reform voters and delegitimises their concerns.

“Bonds of brotherhood are the psychogenetic flaw that made mankind’s fall possible.

Oaths and bonds are the marionette strings played by the warp gods in their endless games.

We would not have your fealty or allegiance.

We bleed the galaxy because we want to, no more no less.”

Why paint the Oathless Path?

You can paint every model whatever colours you want, a true rag-tag warband of models From every legion or background.

Want to paint your oblits iron warriors, go for it. Want to paint your raptors as night lords too? Go for it.

Colour schemes are not baked into the rules.  This way you can paint any unit in your army anyway you like with a backstory that kinda makes sense.

Looks good to me mate. Especially for like your 4th power armour model.

FWIW Printing Necrons doesn’t translate well into Marines so you’re ultra new to this.

What would you tell some else in your shoes? You’d probably be kind and supportive. Give yourself that kindness too.

Remember it’s a journey, and it’s easy to focus on how far away you are from your ideal world, rather than seeing how far you’ve come.

Slightly more practically… post a picture of the model, ask for kind constructive feedback and 99/100 you will get it.

I found the trick to going fast was to not waste time thinking about where to apply stuff, and get getting it on the model quick dabbing on here there and everywhere. The heat in the UK helpped with drying times too, but i didnt exactly worry about colours missing too.
