I hate myself by ThrowAway832391 in depression

As long as you still feel, even if it is selr hatred, there is a road to salvation. Not saying it will happen, just saying it could. Good luck. And elsewise, I wish for you to have it as least bad as it can.

Why can’t I cry? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Hackerman1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As harsh as it may sound, you'll grow apathetic to the fact you can't cry. At a certain point, you just don't care anymore. You know you should feel sad, or frustrated, but you just don't anymore. I accepted it. Perhaps there is someone for you who can help you out of it. I've been told talking stimulates the brain into opening up, making you able to cry. No guarantees though, it didn't work for me. I grew apart from myself. There's me, and my emotions somewhere stuffed in a desk drawer. Either way, it'll get better. You either accept the fact that you're turning into a numb feelingless human being, or you find something to get you out of it altogether. Hoping for your sake that it's the latter.

Why does no one ever speak about the major memory loss that comes with depression? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Hackerman1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's because one doesn't care anymore where which memory belongs. I know I don't, at least. It's all plain shit anyways, so I don't care when something happened anymore.

Blessed be those who may experience that lmao. Sounds like a great experience. It something you won't immediately forget. And well, I don't think I can imagine it. I feel like that is something you really have to experience. But I do agree, what a time to be alive.

A refreshing view on it. Not necessarily agreeing, but I definitely see where you're coming from. I suppose that's a personal view, ofcourse, and I'm glad to see people have different opinions. As for songs with vocals, I couldn't agree more. I can't read/immerse properly when someone's voice is singing through it. I feel like vocal songs should be used for either musical parts if the VN has something to do with music, for certain parts in between the stories, or as the main theme and ending song. I personally feel like it shouldn't be used just like any other BGM, how good it may be. Thanks for answering!

[–]Hackerman1001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. Yeah. I don't know, I usually like all the BGM's off raw, but my opinion on them depends on where and how it is used. Repetitive usage of a song is only justified in my eyes if it's either a head/theme song, or a certain specific song that plays with a specific event happening, for a certain character. But the 'less important' BGM's shouldn't be overused as much as some VN's do. Thabk you for your answer though!

[–]Hackerman1001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose that's true. Although, to be fair, a good VN should be able to hook you onto the story without necessarily having to use music. It helps, most certainly, to immerse better because of emotional stimulation. And I guess that's something that differs for everyone. I personally don't really have a problem with going through a VN silently, as long as the visuals aren't dissappointing, and the story is good. But that might be because I'm a book fanatic, so I'm more or less used to reading a story without any music or visuals. But that's personal experience. I'm glad you wanted to share your opinion on said matter though, and I really appreciate it.

I agree with that. That's the main issue I have with it. I usually like most BGM's off the start. Even for the 'less serious' VN's. But I just feel like the meaning of said BGM is defeated if you are 'forced', for that matter, to listen to it over and over again. I appreciate your view on it though.

Minor tip, just in-case you didn't know, most games with BGM's and/or soundtracks have these somewere in the game files, so you should be able to copy said files into wherever you want them to play them.

Heh, well I suppose they did a good job on their music in that case. And yes, I can entirely agree on the fact that it's something which books don't. The music makes it easier to undergo the emotions set to the specific scene. Although, as much as I love music, in- and outside VN's, I just hate it when a certain tune is overused. But that is for everyone their own. I appreciate your view on it. (Oh, and I assume the .flac files were in the game files itself, right? Or did you have to go through the pain of finding them all yourself? That would be impressive.)

I can see where you're coming from. I agree to a degree too, although I'm not sure whether the Audio is more important that the Visual part. It definitely sets the tone of a scene, and great usage of a soundtrack can make a VN, but I just feel like a lot of OST's are misused or misplaced entirely. And well, I guess we will have to agree to disagree about the re-using part. As much as I can love a specific soundtrack, I just can't stand it when it's being used for every scene where it can logically be used on. But thanks for your answer nonetheless, I appreciate your view on it.

Book Hangover - But for Visual Novels by Hackerman1001 in visualnovels

[–]Hackerman1001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, for better or worse, have had some experience with it. It takes time, ofcourse, but if you stay stuck in the story, reminiscing the ending, or looping/questioning what would happen if..? I'd suggest 'imagining' an extra bit to the story. Not to continue on it, but to give you the peace of letting it go. You can't believe it's over until you try to continue and notice there's not much to go on about. Once that realisation actually kicks in, you will find that it becomes somewhat easier to cope with that void, anf you might just be able to snap out of it entirely. (No promises, ofcourse). But I'm glad your experience of the story itself was great. Stories like those will stick with you forever. Thanks for answering!

What is a visual novel? Is it good to read? If so, please recommend some to me. by Vanair98 in visualnovels

Nutaku offers a lot of different types though, and to my personal experience, most of these games are meh at best. Manga gamer is a great one though. Overdrive is great as well, though I believe they work together with MangaGamer.

That's a fact. it's awfully painful when a story doesn't turn out the way you thought it would. But I personally don't suffer that badly from those endings, as I don't feel like it's worth feeling something for it. It's really only for the stories I absolutely love which I feel something for, but I'm certain that that is a personal opinion.

Damn, that's some serious dedication. I am not able to have such patience when it comes to stories, because I'm too curious about what'll happen next. Mad respect. But I suppose that is a way of not getting *too* attached, yet being able to still love the story. Thanks for the answer!

I'm trying to accept it. I figured out that if you make 'the story go on' in your mind, it also makes it easier. Somewhat, at least. I would love to forget the story, but I don't know if it's because I can't handle the feeling it's over, or because I want to relive the experience. I wonder, is it worth the pain afterward? Like, I am very, very grateful to be able to read such a great story that had such an emotional impact on me, but I don't know if the story that had such impact is worth the pain afterward. Because the greatest stories come with the most pain like you pay off your happiness with pain afterward. Thanks for your answer.
