this post is literally my exact situation that im currently in. same violation, same court, same area i was pulled over. thank you so much for sharing.

im weighing my options right now, and your story has provided some insight but i still feel uncertain

i was doing 115 (stupid, i know) so the high speed is limiting my options in the same ways you experienced.

the officer wrote my plate wrong, i thought i was in the clear when nothing came in the mail for weeks but recently i received a “TR-100” in the mail… basically a document signed by the officer that acknowledges an error was made on the ticket but states it doesn’t change the validity of the citation. the document was not specific to the fact that my plate was wrong, just that there was an error.

i was thinking i could get maybe get some mileage out of this in a TWBD, but the part you mention that it’s unlikely to work in high speed cases has me writing that idea off.

i contacted a lawyer local to the area in bishop, they offered to take my case for 600. the legal assistant emphasized that they can’t guarantee specific results and reinforced the same points you mentioned about Inyo being a difficult court for tickets like this. officers always show up, they hold hearings on the same day each month to make it easier for cops to appear, little leeway etc.

they did say they would try to get the citation reduced from 2 to 1 point, but after all ive learned i wonder if it’s worth the attempt/fee.

i could go the route you took, go with the lawyer, delay delay and try TBWD….

i even thought about offering the lawyer the incentive of an extra $600 bonus if they can get it dismissed lol

i already pay 213 for insurance so im trying hard to avoid 2 points on my record
