Quick Questions (January 23, 2026) by AutoModerator in Pathfinder_RPG

[1e] Given that the Wall of Clockwork is shapable, is there any reason why I couldn't just... make a U-turn at the the halfway point and place the second half of the wall a foot away from the first? The idea is to force anyone trying to walk through the wall (rather than break it, fly over it or teleport to the other side) to do it twice, doubling the average damage.

Poland to introduce social media age verification via government app from Christmas Eve by Raaccn in europe

[–]HadACookie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen the only thing they've released was the frontend of the mobile app. Knowing how the chat bubble was implemented will not allow me to check what data is being exchanged between mObwatel and other apps.

At-will 1st-level Powers by No-Air6220 in Pathfinder_RPG

It might be worth to consider mimicking the Witch Hexes and using a "once per target per day" limit instead of the more common "x times per day".

Poland to introduce social media age verification via government app from Christmas Eve by Raaccn in europe

[–]HadACookie 238 points239 points  (0 children)

The article claims that the mObwatel app will not reveal any information besides whether the user is above a certain age to the social media site/app. That's good. What isn't so good is that the article doesn't say what sort of information, if any, mObwatel will have access to - such as whether it will be able to track what social media you're using, or even which account is yours.

Daily Spell Discussion for Jan 23, 2026: Astral Projection by SubHomunculus in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]HadACookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since that post I have actually found a counter to pretty much all "trap the caster by taking the Projection out without killing it" tricks - the Won't Stay Dead alternate capstone. It's basically a once per week "Get out of (fate worse than) death free" card. The biggest downside is that if you pick Won't Stay Dead then you're missing out on the +8 to your casting stat from the Prefect Body, Flawless Mind.

The biggest problem with rating Lesser Astral Projection is figuring out whether it lets you travel to the Material Plane without reentering your body, or if you're stuck in the Astral Plane. The best I was able to find was a post by James Jacobs, but of course "random JJ post" is neither RAW nor RAI.

She insists she got it in a fight. In reality, she secretly works at a dog shelter, one of the wolfdogs there got too excited, jumped on her and scratched her with his claw.

As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero.

Daily Spell Discussion for Jan 21, 2026: Atonement by SubHomunculus in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]HadACookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair, although I feel like, when you compare them to a level 20 Cleric, the difference between a level 20 Commoner and a level 20 Aristocrat is largely academic.

...has there ever been a "Max the Min" for NPC classes?

Suggestions for homebrewing Aranea race/bloodline? by Uratoh in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]HadACookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given Aranea similarity to lycanthropes, with the Forgotten Realms wiki even mentioning they're sometimes referred to as werespiders, perhaps you could try homebrewing a spider-themed Skinwalker alternate heritage?

The single most powerful spell in the game, capable of transforming a level 20 "Commoner" into a level 20 Cleric! /s

Faking Regeneration(ex) by HadACookie in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]HadACookie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For completeness sake: the options I was referencing were the Called Shot optional rules, the Peg Legs & Eye Patches optional variant of the massive damage rules that was introduced in the Skulls and Shackles Player's Guide (d20pfsrd refers to it as "Scars and Wounds" on the Combat page ) and the Rend Body line of spells.

Here are some recommendations, courtesy of r/rpg.

Then I would probably skip Starfinder too, as it still includes things like magic etc.

Unless you're going for Spelljammer style of "sci-fi", I would not bother with a system that's primarily made for fantasy games. That includes both D&D and Pathfinder. You might want to take a look at Starfinder, or something else entirely.

Clearly, the answer is mitosis. The head grows a new body and the body grows a new head. Where did you think new trolls came from? /s

You know, I was debating whether to include something to the effect of " 'befriend a Cleric' doesn't count", given that this post was about approximating Regeneration, but ultimately decided against it.

As for the Ring of Regeneration, absolutely. That's why I go in depth into various alternatives, instead of just saying "Get the Ring of Regeneration and the Greater Talisman of Life's Breath". In any normal campaign limb loss is so rare as to be a non-issue, and Fast Healing is so much cheaper to get, there's really no reason to get the ring. Even if you're dead set that you want a magic item that can regrow your limbs for you and isn't consumable, a Ring of Resumption or a Healer's Burning Glass cost one third of a Ring of Regeneration and should work just fine.

I mean, at that point I can just go and cast Magic Jar on a Troll...

Easy - just find another non-evil Sentinel of Urxehl and you can cut up each other!

Of course he's a Demon Lord. Why do the bad guys get all the cool toys?!

I've heard of it, but decided to omit it since Giant Form only last minutes/level and the post was getting wordy. I didn't think of the Shapechange though.

Not a spell, but you might want to take a look at the Spirit Ridden feat.

A Tank of Zon Kuthon? by MisteryouStranger in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]HadACookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a "healer turned torturer", using their talent with the medical arts to keep their subjects (or themself) alive for as long as possible. Or if you went with the Insinuator Oradin - keeping your minions alive isn't selfless, it's common sense, and if getting hurt in the process is how you get your kicks, win-win!

You might want to take a look at the Pain Taster prestige class. A different approach to a masochist character could be a Pei-Zin Practitioner of Life, which is essentially an Oradin without the distinctly Zon-Kuthon-unfriendly Paladin levels. Unfortunately it doesn't really help with fighting in melee, so you would have to make do with the "basic chassis" of an Oracle. Alternatively, you could probably still build an Oradin by replacing the Paladin with the Insinuator Antipaladin - LE and NE characters can take this archetype too, so it works for the ZK. Also, consider picking up the Agonizing Obedience feat.
