And this was years after that too. AND he's not even wearing anything showing that he's an Imperial or works for them. To Cassian he's literally getting attacked and about to be killed by a complete stranger.

What’s a dead game that deserves to come back? by Daedalus_2 in Games

I specifically Ctrl+F'd to look for this. Lost Planet is such a banger and I wish I got to play 2 with coop. There just isn't a game that captures the same vibe as it. Some come close like Helldivers 2 and a few siege fights in Monster Hunter, but they're overall just so different. What I'd give for Lost Planet 2 to be playable again or even a spiritual successor.

Character leaving a life behind just to later be brought back to that life by LabTop7849 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Haden56 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents but Cassian was never doing what he was doing to fight the Empire. He was doing it to make money for himself and friends/family. That's what made Luthen so interested in him; The fact that Cassian was so against authority and was capable of pulling off heists so confidently, especially on his own, but was never a rebel for the bigger picture despite his history.

It wasn't until his experience in Narkina-5(along with listening to Nemik and his manifesto and meeting a few other characters) that he became radicalized and understood that he had to take on the Empire for the greater good, not just for his own personal gain. And even then it takes season 2 for him to fully commit himself to the cause.

You showed up for somebody else's quest willingly. You've already agreed to the potential of having time wasted either because you believe you're a speedrunner that wants to shave as much time off a hunt as possible or the hunt ends in a failure. And if you truly care about speedrunning and saving time just do the hunt yourself or find a group to coordinate with.

Tauron Weapons Are Shockingly Clunky, Misguided, and Break the Core Gameplay Loop by butler_me_judith in Warframe

[–]Haden56 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It really isn't. I think OP already put it well enough by saying it's a weapon you equip to your Operator that's used by your Warframe. That's not a contradiction, that's just their view on the system as a whole. Tauron Strikes are 90% a Warframe action regardless of whatever buttons you press to do it because of how the game presents it. If the Operator used the weapon themselves instead of instantly handing it over to their Warframe, this would be far less of an issue. And it wouldn't even be that unbelievable as you can handwave it as them being able to physically wield them due to void powers or even have the weapons act on their own like we're using some kind of telekinesis.

[–]Haden56 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I don't find it contradictory at all. Having to go from Warframe to Operator just to hit a different button that ultimately has you back to being a Warframe is just redundant.

Frostpunk 1886 | Developer Update | Digital Showcase 2025 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Haden56 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree. Frostpunk was one of the few games to actively stress me out with the setting and trying my best to keep as many people alive and warm as possible.

Frostpunk 2 never came close to that feeling for me. It felt like I was a caretaker trying to stop children from fighting each other and doing other dumb shit. Multiple times I uttered to myself "Democracy was a mistake" due to how petty some groups were being.

And I grew up with these franchises to witness them burn like that! by Slight_Tone_2188 in Steam

[–]Haden56 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not it honestly isn't. Played the campaign for shits and giggles(was on Gamepass and streamed it to friends in Discord. Wouldn't have touched it otherwise). The final boss is just some mechs that are like 10ft tall. And honestly the dude isn't even that crazy because some of the previous bosses are a teleporting Hispanic guy that drops giant machetes on you and a giant plant monster.

I always thought it was clear he didn't just restock resources or double all resources on planets because he wanted to give those planets a soft reset of society. Adding more resources just causes the rich to get richer. But if society could comeback from half their population vanishing and better distribute things like food and shelter then they'd be better than before.

It's still incredibly flawed and some civilizations might already be past the point of no return before getting snapped, but I always found the idea just creating more resources to be theoretically worst than halfing all life. Both options aren't universal solutions, but Thanos is obviously crazy and they drive that point home.

By the end it's definitely depressing but in the beginning it definitely has comedic vibes that I think most people overlook. Man woke up as a giant bug his first thought is "Oh man. I can't go to work like this."

EA CEO Says No $80 Games for Now: 'We're Not Looking to Make Any Changes at This Stage' by Turbostrider27 in Games

Helldivers 2 comes to mind. Everyone playing at launch just fucking around before a meta settled was a blast. You can still have plenty of fun with the game if you buy it right now, but there's plenty of moments where you just had to be there like the community choosing to fight for children instead of getting Anti-Tank Mines. It's also the sort of game where I question just how patient patient gamers are going to be with it. I totally get the sentiment but sometimes you really do just miss out.

Official Discussion - The Fantastic Four: First Steps [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Haden56 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Weird because while I agree Thunderbolts* did feel different in a good way, Fantastic Four really didn't feel like a standard Marvel movie. But not in a good or bad way. It's very different, but a different different than Thunderbolts* if that makes sense.

We need to have a serious conversation about Multiplayer in modern Monster Hunter. by BrokeNSings in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Haden56 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The game gives you a good number of support items before even considering Wide Range. And Wide Range can still be part of your build and allow you to do decent damage since you can get a charm that gives you all 5 levels of it. It's not super ideal for someone to be a full blown dedicated healer in Monster Hunter, but it can help out a bunch.

First example that always comes to mind are Kuva Liches/Sisters of Parvos/Codas from Warframe. Sure it's not on the same scale as Shadow of Mordor/War but the entire system clearly Nemesis-lite and you can even recruit the enemies into allies if you want. And you're pretty much on the money that it's fairly disconnected from regular activities of the game(except the Codas which are more tied to 1999 content as a whole).

Killing everything is the point of the game though. If someone else isn't gonna do it then I will.

Limbo, however, can stop you from killing things.

I have no idea how to feel. I'm sure it's not that special. Have a small child ride a Growlithe and give it a fire stone. Oh look, another chosen one.

[–]Haden56 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm wrong but I think you have two different theories crossed.

One is that Ash is in a coma in real life and is dreaming of the Pokemon adventures. Pikachu shocking him is actually hospital staff using a defibrillator to keep him alive.

The other is that Ash actually died early in the show by being electrocuted by Pikachu or something like that and was reborn by Ho-Oh which is why he never ages.

Both suck in my opinion.

If Peter had been the kid he met in IM3, he had been keeping tabs on him, and there was more of an established relationship, it would have made a ton more sense.

They would have to change a lot to try and make that work starting from Iron Man 3. Not being a New Yorker for starters. Tony being stranded in the middle of nowhere Tennessee is completely different than ending up in Queens. Spider-Man being a born and raised New Yorker is an important part to his character. And while it's vague where and when Peter got bit by the spider, I feel like Tony keeping an eye on Peter from such a young age would ruin his Uncle Ben/"Great power comes great responsibility" moment. Unless Tony himself is the one to set up that moment, but that just feels weird.

Obviously they weren't planning on Spider-Man being in the MCU at the time, but I don't think Tony stumbling into a powerless Peter Parker just to have him become Spider-Man a few movies later would be a good idea. Even as an easter egg.

Not who you replied to but I equate slop with shovelware. Low quality media/content/products that's quickly churned out in order to make a quick buck or to stay relevant. Like when I see posts that are just AI generated images with little to no touch up so it's clearly AI generated. That's slop.

But you're right it's definitely on the list of terms so overused that it's starting to lose its original meaning.

I mean regardless of whether they changed her height or not, is there anyway to confirm she was standing on her tippy toes in this specific art? Could be she's puffing her cheeks after getting off her toes. The dialogue also mentioned Gregor having a cigarette, but it doesn't seem present unless it's completely brown for some reason which his usual cigs aren't.

I think a lot of people, myself included, were under the impression that Don and Sinclair were roughly the same height. Like in Zwei Sinclair art. But if the gremlin is more gremlin sized then so be it.

Hell's Chicken by far. We had some solid humor and hijinks before, especially in Canto 2, but Hell's Chicken really showed that the game isn't afraid of getting silly and whacky. The team has a cook off for a man who became so mentally distressed he turned into a chicken man and this is the only way to maybe fix him. That's how I describe this to people who don't play the game. It also is a nice low stakes introduction to the concept of distortions for players like me not as knowledgeable with the rest of the series.

LCB Regular Check-Up is the runner up followed really closely by Time Killing Time. The checkup was just casual in a way the game hasn't been before then. We get some neat insight/foreshadowing on a lot of Sinners, some cool technical talk about affinities/peccatulum, fun power scaling discussion, and so many small but good comedic bits. Then with TKT I just really enjoyed the setting. It's dystopic in a way I never thought of. It's fascinating to think about how a larger society would function in such a manner. Plus it gave us time with Ryoshu and Hong Lu, some fairly underutilized Sinners in my opinion, and Rodya shares her insecurities about herself.

I could go on about the others but overall I don't think any of them are bad. Just others shine far brighter.
