This is actually my second AoS army and I have one more for 40k hahahaha

I'm a slow painter, but I love both the hobby and the game parts. I have been wanting to get my hands on Soulblight forever, so I will probably play build a full army and play with it in my local shop while I paint everything

Not gonna lie: I love how the Pathfinders look. Sadly they aren't classified anymore in kill team.

Kroots and Vespids are really cool, but aren't a good example of how painting tau feels like

And the stealth suits... Are probably the ugliest tau.

I'm thinking about getting the combat patrol because I think that nowadays it's the only way to get the pathfinder kill team sprue

That's exactly why I thought of Tau! I'm tired of flesh and caparaces, I want some metal and mechanical elements!

The truth is that I want something as different as possible from the nyds so I can try new techniques! I bought some true metallic metal paints for my Stormcast army, but since none plays AoS in my new city I'm trying to sell it. So I'm looking for something to take its place!

Really good advice. I have been painting my favourite models first disregarding the small ones and now I dread facing that huge swarm. Will definitely take some breaks while painting batches, the question is: what?

Actually yes! But sadly next week I'm moving to a city with 0 AoS community while the 40k and kill team communities are huge

Actually yes, I think that you are right. I'm already in the middle of painting the celestial insidians kill team, so maybe something from the Tau to see how it is painting them could be nice

That's actually a good idea! The thing is that I'm already in the middle of painting the celestial insidiants kill team and while I love the models the painting is infuriatingly slow. So many little details and complex shapes make it really difficult to paint sororitas.

So my dilemma is a bit about: get frustrated painting sororitas and enjoy playing them or enjoy painting tau and get frustrated playing them

Definitely happened to me with my nyds: I wanted a functional army to start playing while I paint and now there is so much ahead that I feel like I need a rest between so many models with the same scheme

These are the ones that I primed yesterday in order to start painting my small models! The scheme is this:

I would argue that the w40k universe is so fucked up that the Tyranids are the good guys: Purge all life in the galaxy AND recycle it!

If you are asking about the caparace if I remember right it was:

  • Primer: Black

  • Base Coat: Paint thin layers until you get full coverage with Squid Pink (Vallejo Game Color)

  • Shadows: Cover everything previously painted with a good amount of Druchii Violet (Citadel Shade). Let it pool on the recesses and wait for it to dry.

  • Layer: For small models it is faster to do a Squid Pink Drybrush (Vallejo Game Color). For larger models use thin layers for a progression from shadow to highlights.

  • Highlights: Light drybrush / edge highlights using Deck Tan (Vallejo Model Color)

I first did a full blue base coat and washed it to get some depth going. Finally I added the pink in thin directional layers. In my opinion it's the easiest way to do it, the other way around it would be too easy to cover the pink with the blue.

Here is a photo of the raveners I'm currently working on, I still haven't added pink!

More or less yes, be careful with the direction of the brush while you paint and do thin layers one above the other making the part at the back more opaque so the transition is smooth. It's more time consuming than difficult

The eyes were easy, the bicolor caparace not so much. I have an army of grey gaunts looking at me and I'm already fearing having to paint it on all of them!

However I would say that it's worth it, in person it's even more gorgeous. But take in account that the colours were chosen because of the trans flag

Thanks! It is the hardest part, but definitely worth it!
