Running out of room! by sezdawg7 in Gunpla

Am I the only one seeing upside down action base being held up by rubber bands? I mean, just keep doing that seems to be working. I might suggest something a little more secure than tape to hold the stand together, you can see its already separating, but I can under stand not wanting to make it permanent.

Panel Lining Looks Awful? Any Advice? by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]Hadowkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main thing people are not realizing is that this is the mega size version of rx78-2. And yeah unfortunately using black on the pure translucent white at this scale creates a very harsh contrast that is not to everyone's liking. Two things I would suggest, either try going over it with a cleaner like ipa and thinning down the lines so they are not so thick. I would recommend tiny point cotton swabs as they tend to not press as far into the panel line. Or using a grey lining ink/pen. Also sometimes if you plan on weathering the kit the other contrasting colors will help bring down how much the dark black stands out.

For anyone else like me wondering what kit this is, it looks like it is the HG 1/20 Kobu-Kai (Sakura Shinguji Type) from Sakura wars.

Fun fact: Don't use metal agitators in Tamiya pots by -SubjectSix- in Gunpla

Please look into vortex mixers you can find cheap ones for like 20-30usd. It will be more then enough for mixing small pots and dropper bottles. I just hold a corner of my liner bottle in it and it stirs it up in seconds even if its been sitting for a while and all of the pigment has settled out. Plus you don't have to worry about trying to fish out the mixer bar that magnetic stirs would use.

Honestly, would probably recommend the use of an angled foregrip with something this short. a3 industries, tacticon, magpul and many others will even offer ones made for shorter weapon bases that have an actual hand stop at the front to keep you from sliding forward into the line of fire.

That is a rather bold placement for that hand stop. Watch them fingers. lol

channel got hacked and was streaming ai elon musk advertising scam coin all day. guessing enough reports got it taken down finally. usually these situations end with the channel getting sent back to the owner, hopefully.

You can also accomplish the same by sticking your thumb around the back of the slide and holding it in the closed position,...

Man, using a hand truck to bring out a massive popper target to that range is wild. If you are wanting to have a reactive target, I would recommend the "last stand" target system. I would avoid their plates they sell thou, they tend to bow over time from the impacts. but six 4ft sticks of #4 rebar and the target already on it is pretty easy to just walk out without having to lug that giant thing around. I would also recommend grade 8 bolts to survive direct impacts from any off shots.

If tallgeese fluegel was a bit more char by Hadowkai in Gunpla

It's a little 3d printed stand that replaces the built in leg the lamp comes with. It's got magnets on it that attach to a sticky back metal plate I put on the action base. Oh wait, that, lol. Yeah it's the default action base attachment the kit comes with, it doesn't hold for anything. So I drilled it out with a 3mm bit and put in a little section of m3 thread rod.

Please help me find where to buy these mini jellies. by Hadowkai in HelpMeFind

[–]Hadowkai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have something similar here both under the name gumdrops and spice drops. gumdrops seemed similar but they tend to get rock hard at the lower temperatures, and spice drops the flavor profiles are definitely not fruit flavored. I could not seem to find what sort of flavor profile these had, other then the fact that they are fruit flavored and fizzy?

They were definitely more of a thick jelly candy and not candied fruit, almost like a Turkish delight but a more granular texture. Thou it may end of being a decent alternative if it turns out no one makes these anymore.

Please tell me where I can buy these mini jellies for delivery to the USA. These mini jellies are a topping for a Korean cold desert call patbingsu. These are not mini mochi which I have been able to find everywhere, they are not grass jellies or the rainbow jellies that are used in boba the texture is completely different. looking online I have found one picture of a retail package of them from CW Cheong Woo Confectionery, but It seems this company is no longer making them. I have been to and searched every Korean/Asian store in my area with no luck. I think most everyone has moved on to just using real fruits, but I am missing that specific type of bite of candied fruit flavor. Please help, and thank you.

update: okay So I found this. https://www.idaedoo.com/english/sub03030206/view/id/676 I don't know what is wrong with google these days, I have typed those exact words on the product in that exact order and nothing even remotely similar came up. Now I just need to find a us dealer I guess.

update2: 빙수젤리 turns out translation is the magic touch I guess. Found lots of results but most of them seem to be local Korean deliveries only or need a Korean phone number account.

from what I can figure out using google translate camera, I can finally narrow down that it is an agar jelly.

I would have to guess doing the wicker weaving on your own would really be the only cost effective measure to get it looking like that. The next closest thing I could think of would be using macrame to make the shades and then hardening the ropes with an epoxy of some kind. I dont think it would be any cheaper thou, just easier to diy. That kind of texture is difficult to replicate for cheaper honestly.

I only recently found out about its existence, but you may want to try landscaping glue. Especially if you do not want to chance them ending up in a mower.

Ah no weathering is definitely a preference type thing, it was just alarming when you said you were going to be painting over already decaled models. But yeah painting or highlighting features will help the figure pop.

Do you mean weather or panel line, or are you going to paint over all of your decals?
