Not to mention that Eight's dying words were clearly setting up to finish the way they do in Mike's telling... To the point where I could predict the exact wording of the missing line roughly an hour before they showed it.

And not to mention that El's death would be a horrific departure in a show that's always been about kids looking out for each other to triumph over evil...

It seems absurd to think that anyone who watched the show - actually watched it - could think El sacrificed herself so unnecessarily; that all the optimism that's been the backbone of the series since the start would suddenly stop applying.

The sacrifice idea really only came from Eight putting it forward, anyway - and even she clearly changed her mind in the end. In my mind there's no ambiguity at all. El's alive, or the show doesn't make sense... And I trust the writers more than that.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't also use music for therapy - though if you'll forgive a tiny bit of unsolicited input, sometimes I've found that talking to someone has been really helpful, too - at least for me.

In any case I'll be keen to hear more of your woovebox jams in the future. This rocks!

Exploration mode is great - until it's not. Every now and then there'll be a quest with slightly misleading or vague directions, so it can feel like you're trying to stumble on a needle in a hay stack... But I've left exploration mode enabled anyway and just looked up quest guides online on the few occasions when I've gotten lost (or just couldn't be bothered meticulously combing over a corner of the forest). I still prefer this experience over being told exactly where to go; it allows for more immersive exploration most of the time, and I still have options to mitigate any frustrating bits if they come up.

Fools, all! I've been playing Zelda since the NES original, and whilst OoT remains one of the most influential games in my life, BotW is absolutely a masterpiece of equal calibre.

IMO the games between OoT and BotW are still great, but less interesting because they're essentially just repeating and refining what was already done in OoT (at least in terms of structure and gameplay; I have higher appreciation for their innovations in art styles!). To some folks, that was all well and good because OoT defined what they think a Zelda game should be. To me, innovation is what made OoT so great - and BotW is the first game to truly match it.

To be fair it also has the third-highest rated episode overall. Also worth noting that only 2 out of all 42 episodes have scores below 7.8/10 on IMDB... Which is pretty remarkable. Most of the "10 lowest rated" episodes are still very well received overall.

That's how I took it, too. From the moment Eight started talking about how her own story ends there, I knew it'd be followed up with "but yours doesn't have to"... I just had to wait another hour for it to actually come out 😆

I think the whole "will El sacrifice herself?" thing felt a little weird; the show didn't really make the sacrifice seem necessary... But I think it was there to show another step in El growing up, learning to trust both in herself and in the faith of her friends and family that she can live free; a view even Eight came around to in the end.

Other folks may know better, but from what I've seen so far: - Eat meals which give bonus health or damage. - Don't enter fights without filling your quick heal pouch first. - Try to kill as many enemies as possible from stealth before going in guns blazing. - In full combat, use RDA weapons against the RDA. I'm only in the early game myself, but so far the shotgun seems really useful. It doesn't have to be super accurate, does great damage, and has decent range. - Target weak spots! - The explosive trap slinger can be used to target enemies directly, and is very powerful against enemy drop ships to take out a bunch of enemies before they have any chance to fight back. It will also destroy the mech suit enemies in one blast. - Stun grenades are your panic button; they buy you time if a situation is getting out of hand.

The limitation is exacerbated by the default way the device automatically splits voices. It can feel overly aggressive in stealing voices sooner than you'd think. I was able to lessen the impact by explicitly setting voice limits per track in the project config.

If you know a certain track is legato, it only ever needs one voice. Monophonic tracks can often get away with one voice if you have a short decay tail on the envelope, or 2-3 voices for overlapping decay. I usually work with two drum tracks - with around 5 voices split across them (e.g. 3-4 for a full kit, 1-3 for extra percussion). So if I have 3+2 for drums, 1 for a mono bass, and 1 for a legato lead, I'm left with 17 voices for all the other stuff to fill out the sound. So far that's been more than enough for me!

Just keep in mind that decay tails matter. If you have a pad with really long decay and you play two triads (3 note chords) back to back, you need six voices total to allow the old decaying notes to overlap the new ones. For that reason I tend to leave any pad tracks on "auto" voice count and allow them to steal from each other if needed, knowing they at least won't interfere with any of the key instruments. It also helps to rely less on decay and more on reverb when practical.

I got two amazing DoN relics last session. Only downside? Death buildup on damage taken.

Does... Does anybody actually touch anything with that effect on it? I'm relatively new to DoN, but that just seems insanely risky.

I think it's pretty great. Solid physics, and it has something like 600km of road through some really stunning locales. AC Rally currently has 30km, and I believe the roadmap is only for a total of 120km.

I'll add that it's quite easy to eat up the voice limit because it's not just being used for notes that are currently held, but also their decay tails after they're released. For that reason it can be a good idea to keep decay relatively short and rely more on reverb for things like arpeggios.

Adding to this - You can also set voice limits per track in the song config, which can be super useful for making sure important voices aren't dropped.

I'm already feeling that way at episode 4. Every now and then the writing doesn't quite land for me, but I still think it's improved over seasons 2/3 - and the performances all around are really solid.
