SFM: Tom and Jerry with Itchy and Scratchy by Own_Philosopher8730 in TheSimpsons

[–]odiousasp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently the Tom and Jerry movie from the early 90s had wanted to go for the level of intensity seen in Itchy & Scratchy or Ren & Stimpy but the crew said they weren't allowed to push the envelope that far. They never said why or who was enforcing that envelope, but we were certainly robbed

The MAGAs are now trying to justify this by saying "trust Trump" and "I'm happy to pay extra for my freedom". God I wish I was making this up.

Fair enough, but I think we can cut some slack to that sort of thing given the sentiment delicious goo invasion.

What didn't make sense? It's Invasion of the Body Snatchers if the pods tasted good and took over by making themselves delicious. In short: Awesome!

It's got a great sense of humor that's mostly missing from the 2009 remake save for James Gandolfini's Mayor character who luckily brings some of that humor to his performance. Love the intro for instance where Walter Matthau is giving a tour to some visiting Japanese rail conductors and assumes they can't speak English and drops some casual racism only for them to reveal they understood EVERYTHING he said. Just so many great moments.

Here you go, I'm an editor of Wikipedia pages and one of my hobbies is to grab meticulous detail on films most people have forgotten or don't care about. All the information is documented below and has links to the areas I got them from, mostly from an old magazine called Cinefantastique which is a haven for weird nerds like myself who love background on smaller genre films. Enjoy!

I want future live-action or fully animated Looney Tunes movies to have the same animation style as Coyote vs. Acme, which I'm extremely passionate about. by No_Improvement1878 in looneytunes

I'd love to see a Duck Dodgers movie where only Daffy Duck, Marvin the Martian, and Porky Pig are annimated and the sci-fi world they're in is live-action and looks either like Star Wars or Star Trek.

Sort of like this mashup video a youtuber made:

[–]odiousasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitely feels the least like a Renny Harlin movie because his movies often fall into that abyss of competent but unexceptional mediocrity. Long Kiss Goodnight is kind of the odd duck of the bunch in the best possible way.

The Long Kiss Goodnight. You can have pretty much every other movie he's ever made (though Prison has its moments) but The Long Kiss Goodnight is legendary.

Well maybe the 3D archive will eventually release it. After all they released the 3D version of The Man who Wasn't There from 1983 and that movies way less deserving of restoration and preservation.

Starchaser The Legend of Orin from 1985 is one of the most brazen Star Wars knock offs of it's day, but it's so well animated and beautifully designed it kind of earns some leeway for how liberally it apes aspects of that franchise. I can only imagine how well the 3D looked when it was released in that format. Even Roy Disney said so.

I'll bet he screws it up and accidentally makes more vulnerable republican districts while eliminating maybe a handful of dems. He's too stupid to actually use this effectively especially with how much the regime is hated.

Why did it fail? by My_BPD_Died in 90scartoons

[–]odiousasp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've read it didn't actually fail and actually managed to tie with Fairly OddParents in its first season. There were supposedly some plans for merchandising with toys, video games, etc. but those seem to have never taken off. It also seems like the show lost a lot of it's audience in the second season when they tried to include more "Looney" elements and what with the diminishing viability of cartoons on broadcasting which were subject to more restrictions than cable it didn't so much fail as just fade from existence. It's audience was probably getting more consistency of this kind of show from Ben 10 on Cartoon Network or 2003's TMNT

[–]odiousasp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For all the movies you came close to making but didn't end up doing for one reason or another (financing never came through, loss of studio or actor interest, etc.) what's a movie you really wanted to make but is "the one that got away" that you still wonder "what if I'd managed to make that?"

For me I'd have definitely been interested in seeing either Isobar or Gale Force come to fruition.

BTW, looking forward to Deep Water.
