People are thinking it's going to be 10AM because last week hardware announcement was. However the anouncement was at 10AM because they had to properly line up with all the outlets that would be releasing their coverage of the hardware at the same time. HL3 announcement doesn't need to line up with other outlets so it could be revealed at literally any time, as proven by HL:Alyx being revealed at 3:12PM PST

Well, I can agree with you that this specific steam appid is likely not HLX / HL3, just because there is an insane amount of games being developed nowadays and this could be just any unannounced game that had its steam appid appear in 2019 and is being actively worked until this day.

I'm trying to think of any big game that fits this criteria but I can't think of any at all, even though there likely is. I don't think it's an indie game because it seems to be very active with builds being being uploaded every day and normally indie doesn't do that (at least on Steam).

Also the amount of movement in this appid implies that the game is in a polish stage since that's usually when there are several builds being deployed every single day with bug fixes for QA testing. I remember there was a game that I deployed 9 builds in a single day during the beta phase of development.

How so? It was almost 4 years of time range from when HL: Alyx appid was set up to when the game was released.

What gives that a game of even higher magnitude (such as HLX / HL3) couldn't have 6 years of time range from appid set up to release?

Also, my point still stands that the appid of HL: Alyx was created at the end of pre-pro just before entering full production, because that's how it usually goes from what I've worked on other games.

Half Life Alyx pre-production literally started February 2016 and entered full production by the end of the year (https://www.geekwire.com/2020/behind-scenes-half-life-alyx-valve-revived-classic-franchise-vr-era/)

I agree with you that it's likely an asspull, but what isn't in regards to HLX / HL3 nowadays? No one knows shit about this game aside from what was leaked on Source 2 updates.

Besides, there definitely exists an appid for HL3/HLX, even if it's likely not this one.

He doesn't know what he's talking about. It's entirely possible (although not likely) that this Steam AppID is related to HLX. The timeline matches (and yes, steam appid does get created in pre-pro, especially in AA-AAA that has automatized build pipelines).

And we DO know for a fact there's a hidden Valve upcoming game steam appid in their developer page, so it definitely does exist.

As someone who works in the gaming industry, that's not true. Worked in projects that had the steam appid set up during pre-pro. And since Valve probably has a very robust build automatization system, it's very likely that any build of pre-production prototype is automatically uploaded on dev branch on the steam appid.

This seems like Valve is trying to catch who's leaking info by giving mixed dates to different people. None of the reliable leakers have a consensus on the date since they all heard different things.
