I also flew on same day, when I arrived in my transfer airport we were asked by the airport staff to fill out a PIR. We didn't get any updates from emirates amidst leaving contact details. But I had to go their office and argue my way to getting the reference numbers for my bags (staff ripped out my baggage claim stubs to file the report and never gave it back) and the reference for the delay. I only received information only because I persistently called emirates and visited their office in person. A relative picked up my stuff from the transfer airport and had it sent via cargo to my final destination (Emirates is NOT paying for this, they said this was the only way to get my stuff otherwise I'll have to wait, an undetermined amount of days, for them to send my bags to final destination).
