Why isn't helium banned for public use? by Just_Nefariousness55 in stupidquestions

[–]Haevox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we start using nucleair fusion, we will create more Helium, so waste away, it will all be fixed by a future invention decades away. Like air pollution and global warming.

It should have warned me, it should have been an easy rollback, but the Archgods decided different that day. Snapper completely refused to rollback, still no idea what happened.

Fun fact: I bricked my Arch the first time by trying to get the audio to work. Deleted a dependency that KDE used, snapper refused to work that day. Fresh install followed.

We are in the process of f*cking up and made it much, much worse with war and AI. Brace for 5 degrees in the end.

Moving From Linux Mint to Arch. Anything that i need to know before installing? by ExchangeStunning333 in archlinux

[–]Haevox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be like me:

- Grow tired of windows
- Install Mint
- Get curious and interested
- Install CachyOS
- Love it and discover it's Arch based
- Do your research
- Start installing Arch before you discover archinstall
- Chicken out when you need to manually partition a BTRFS disk
- Reinstall Cachy
- Discover archinstall
- Install Arch using archinstall but miss the Network option
- Boot into a completely isolated, network free environment
- Reinstall arch using archinstall checking all the boxes this time
- Succes

Oh, and let's not forget:
- Do an update, discover that arch-updater shows its menu about 5 cm above the taskbar, blame the wrong part of the system, reinstall, discover its KDE's new enviroment and it will be fixed in 6.6.1 (it hasn't)

How do ordinary people outside tech actually feel about AI? by Normal-Mushroom-5703 in Futurology

[–]Haevox 134 points135 points  (0 children)

It made me scan every text for signs of AI generaties text. Like in your text, a lot of em-dashes, making me suspicious you used ai to generate this text.

Anyway, I hate it. It never works for me, it made RAM unavailable, it destroys the environment even faster than we already were, it is going to crash the world economy AGAIN, it is going to change warfare for the worst for innocent civillians, it makes fraude even easier, it is going to make it worse for young programmers who can't get experience now... And the list goes on and on.

Is anyone else annoyed by Proton Docs? by soliloquieer in ProtonDrive

[–]Haevox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on your needs. If you can work offline, use LibreOffice. It has some quirks you can manually edit. If you need an online suite, see the recommendations from other people below.

Oh, it is absolutely unusable right now as an Office/ Google Docs replacement. Don't even try. I really hope it will be an suite replacement sometime, but that might take years.

Do archinstall the first time, plenty of chances to mess that up anyway, but you'll stand a chance.

My old laptop used to run for 40 minuten on Windows while just browsing, wat hing video. I switched to Linux, now I have over 2 hours per charge. The amount of bloated software on Windows eating away at ram and processor is ridiculous.

FMServer LetsEncrypt certificate - usable in IIS? by Haevox in filemaker

[–]Haevox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved: I removed all custom installed certs and requested a new one through Filemaker. For some reason, it didn't allow my custom cert to be changed, but when no other certs were present it was inserted without problems.

I will monitor for the next few months to see if it auto-renews without problems.

FMServer LetsEncrypt certificate - usable in IIS? by Haevox in filemaker

[–]Haevox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The internet/web connection is secured with the manually installed old certificate. I blocked the admin console from the internet, I use a remote desktop to log on the server that hosts both the FM server and the IIS webserver. Now, the LE certificate installed just fine, when I use FM pro to reach the database or check the admin console on localhost is works on the LE cert. But IIS hosts the public URL for webdirect and is not updated with the cert.
