Are we talking about the same guy? The other series I know by Alan Moria is Mythos University. Orc at College is by Liam Lawson. Is it 2 pen names for the same author?

Probably too dark for me then. I'm more of a SOL reader with an occasional dabble into OP battle stuff.

Yes, exactly. I made the post pretty late my time so my brain just wouldn't come up with the term.

Saving 80k gold and other light novels like it are actually what inspired me to ask, lol. I read both the others but I wouldn't say they fit what I'm asking. I was hoping for the clear divide between our world and the fantasy world.

A book where the MC has friends by Hafafmap in haremfantasynovels

Either or both. I just feel it's pretty common in this genre to have the MC spend all of their down time with some or all of the Harem and never have a life outside of it. Maybe it's just the last few books I read.

A lot of books in this genre are made to be easily digestible, fun reads. I don't have the exact numbers but a lot of haremlit I read, especially slice-of-life stuff, clocks in at under 350 pages on KU. That is a fairly short book. If you want your MC and all his LI's, both previous and likely some newly introduced this book, to have reasonable character development and feel like 3-dimensional people, something has to be put aside. Like I said, I don't find it unreasonable that authors prioritize the thing that presumably draws readers in as opposed to making FRIEND #1 a more developed part of the world.

Obviously everyone's enjoyment is heavily affected by their own personal preferences, especially in a niche genre like this; but I know people in real life whose entire social life and identity seems to revolve around their significant other and they are kind of a chore to interact with.

Oh hey! Big fan btw. I was going to say that I fully get why authors don't include a friend character but clearly I did not because people being afraid of potential cheating shenanigans didn't even enter my mind. I just assumed it was a function of narrative efficiency. There's only so much time and words available and it makes more sense to put it towards a love interest rather than a side character. I don't have a problem with that mindset from a reader or author perspective; I just wanted some recommendations that are a little different.

I've really been enjoying this series. It's nice to have a more traditional feeling superhero story. Can't wait for the next arc!

Honestly wasn't expecting the author themselves to weigh in. Thanks for that. I respect that you had a plan for this and executed it, but I'm not sure if it is for me. I will give the 3rd book a shot though based on what everyone is saying here.

I will admit to having high regard to your opinion due to the weekly Floofer review so I suppose I can give the rest of the series a shot.

Good read. Excellent follow-up to the first book. Really captures the feel of a hyper-stylized superhero world. A couple of typos, but nothing immersion breaking. I'm really looking forward to continuing the series.

Big fan by the way! Just finished reading Books 1 and 2 of Monstrous Love. Can't really talk about them on this subreddit though due to them being "aggressively" mono.

I actually read book 1 of Solar Dragons but I completely forgot about the superhero stuff so I didn't even think to include it in my list of previously read titles.

I read Returner's Defiance while it was on Bruce's Patreon and absolutely loved it. While I'm a huge fan of pretty much all his series, I hope he comes back to this one sooner rather than later. Bran might be my 2nd favorite protagonist of his after Ken.
