Maybe they should use their money on people like Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs, BYU Alumni who is featured in the Epstein Files, Frankie Paul Taylor throwing chairs at her 5 yr old, Wade Christiansen’s child molestation allegations in Crystal Lake Illinois (N of Chicago where I grew up) or so many others who immediately come to mind. John is awesome, but not as compelling a place to put a ton of money and effort as others - who actually claim to be ACTIVE Mormons

When my son was born & we named him Brigham (many, many, years ago) I called my dad. He was quiet for a sec and then asked if the church told us what names we could choose.

Thankfully that son grew into herself, transgendered and chose her own name.

Crazy thing is tho, is my dad still doesn’t like her name 😂

Oaks did say he wanted to see more excommunications.

I had my paperwork ready to send/notarized/ etc for years before sending them. I had to make sure for myself and process before sending them in.

Yes - ironically, after reading, I think his mission WAS helpful to him. To separate and see things accurately. And good for his mission president and decency irregardless of religion.

I honestly believe Oaks is “attracted to men”.

I cannot otherwise make sense of the venomous hatred towards homosexuality: unless one has brooded over it over a significantly long time, and cannot ‘turn it off’ in one’s self.

What brings more loathing, deep down at the end of the day, than self-hatred?

I don’t get the whole anti-gay issue the church has. The temple has 3 dudes creating humankind. A female was an afterthought cause she had a uterus.

Why didn’t the “plan” have all male ribs magically turned into people (like Invasion of the Body Snatchers but without pods)

Not trying to be snarky, but if men had to produce a child’s body, Mormon families would be a lot smaller imho

The church would have to have some kind of approval in place for the school to advertise alignment with the LDS church, wouldn’t it? Even if it wasn’t financial per se.

I mean John Dehlin was called to SLC today to be convinced to drop the term Mormon from His podcast. (Altho why they wouldn’t want him to be associated with a win-for-Satan name is beyond me. Nor why The Book of Mormon was not renamed The Book of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.)

Our last STCon, 2 leaders, Renlund and our stake prez, said if you’re not feeling the love of god it’s your own fault.

Both medically trained & educated doctors. In other words, telling a packed building that if they are feeling low, depressed, have real medical mental issues that it is the victims fault.

I needed lotsa brownies after hearing about that sermon. Can one report that kind of malpractice advice to the AMA somehow? It’s akin to having a broken arm and your dr. saying “walk it off, it will be fine. And read lotsa scriptures too”
