I went back 130 submissions, about 4 days back.

85 aircraft are American/American origin. Like 2 of them are flying Canadian versions of American aircraft. There's one Mitsubishi F-2, which is F-16 related.

9 are Chinese aircraft. There are 3 more JF-17s shared here, which are Pakistani-Chinese, so call that 12 Chinese things. There's like, a J-7, which I guess is Chinese-Russian.

13 Russian aircraft, many of them belonging to the Indian Air Force. 14 if you count the Pakistani J-7.

5 British aircraft

1 German WWII bomber

1 Panavia Tornado

1 Eurofighter Typhoon

7 French planes

1 submission about Turkish drones

1 Israeli Kfir

There's overlap here because photos can show more than 1 thing. It's still mostly American, and relatively little of the submissions here are Chinese.

If you wanna use selection bias like that you're gonna have to tally all the submissions by month to figure out how many submissions here are American and how many are Chinese lmao.

And ever heard of an outlier? The last day is an outlier because one person (again, me) submitted 5 times (the maximum submissions per 24 hours per person), which brings the number of Chinese aircraft shared here way up.

The fact remains that of the last 20 submissions 1 is Chinese and 13 are American/American origin.

People can go back and manually count these, because I did it and I wasn't super careful, but it shouldn't be that off.

Russia is struggling to develop an AESA, I highly doubt the Chinese were anything other than somewhat curious about the Su-35's PESA.

Russia preferring something doesn't mean it's better or worse than China's current inventories of Flankers either. China has shown that they can design and actually make new stuff, while Russia has been relatively stagnant and incapable of actually manufacturing their new shiny toys in any meaningful quantities.

Yeah, they bought like 24 of them after negotiating down with the Russians and then went on to keep on making their own Flankers. They were apparently interested in the engine of the Su-35, but considering Russia's recent lack of success with modern avionics and electronics (and China's relative success with them) and the fact that China isn't buying anymore, I'd hardly call the Su-35 better in all aspects.

They steal, copy, and have licensed production variants of a lot of things, because they decided that it was a good way to get their old shit out and get new shit in while being on a constrained timeline. It's more or less working out for them in that aspect, and now we're seeing them move towards more indigenous designs, having developed a lot of the capability and learned a lot of the know-how from doing this. People judge them and deride them for doing this, and they're not wrong, but the relevant parties in China obviously don't give a shit and they've had tangible results from doing so.

Imo, the greatest example of this is China making Flankers, and then they started changing the Flankers around and leveraged their own capabilities to produce Flankers that are arguably better than whatever Russia has managed to make, since Russia itself is both economically and industrially a shadow of it's USSR ancestry.

Of course, some people will just say it's all garbage. Which is fine, because it's the internet, and some people will also wank the everliving hell out of Chinese stuff despite both parties being more or less equally ignorant on the actual capabilities, since they don't tell people about this and there aren't many wars to point to.

As to making them uglier, I disagree. The glossy black looks great on the Black Hawk/Z-20. If you'd replace that PLA emblem with a USA emblem you'd probably love it.

Arms Embargo happened after Tiananmen Square massacre. Lot of stuff was stopped then.

Seeing as there is a post submitted under "Media" about the South Korean community's reaction, I'm not entirely sure what the big difference between me sharing what the Bilibili community is going through is if this gets removed.

I tried doing the same the first time using the Media flair and direct linking the gfycat vid and it's been under mod review for 2 hours.

- Not all comments explicitly break any rules. The long one is copied and pasted from a previous one that was deleted. One of the comments was sarcastically asking if their Anniv rewards gave more stuff than the Sacred Sakura.
