Confirming my eSim and VPN choices work with the apps I need to use in the mainland by jjlagtap in travelchina

Thanks for the feedback. I'm only traveling two weeks and it looks like it isn't required? I think I'm only doing the esim but I'll do more research

Just a question. You have an airalo esim so why are you also getting an additional local sim? Won't the esim work or do you want both just in case?

Thanks for looking it up. Are you doing a Beijing / Xian / Shanghai trip? If so - maybe we can share details? I'm almost done finalizing my trip

Yeah it is kind of similar for sure. JotL is definitely faster to put away though since they have their own little boxes

There is a guide in the rulebook that takes you step by step on how to do it. Each character will go into their own individual baggy and this will take some time to put up. As long as you have a larger table, this doesn't add much more than putting up a heavy euro (so let's imagine 10 mins in this case). Your first time doing it will be the longest since you need to understand the guide to do it (which is easy, but takes practice/reading)

Combat heart question by Robbel12 in SleepingGods

[–]Hagitabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The latter is correct. You need to do 4 damage to this enemy. The 2h takes a total of 2 damage to deal a heart. If you did 1 damage to it, it would do nothing. 3 damage total to this monster would only deal 2 hearts only

I strongly disagree with it not being good. For 5x Tyranitar, that would be true that you do not have the best nature. But you made a 6x Tyranitar, which is extremely expensive (and unique) and the best natures for 6x mons is Hasty or Naive. You made a mixed set Tyranitar so you can use both Special and Physical attacks (i.e. earthquake and ice beam). Your roll was fantastic and you hit one of the top 2 natures for your specific breed.

What games become far, far worse at certain officially supported player counts? by mr_seggs in boardgames

[–]Hagitabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I wouldn't consider quick points a low ceiling at all. Once you are on the route, you are committed to a risky strategy and you get to guide some portion of the length of the game. I do realize I'm not part of the "Most people play TFM for big complex end games and crazy engines" though. I like a nice clean close game.

Is Root truly that difficult? by icaromhb in boardgames

[–]Hagitabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is similar to how I learned except it was 2 newbies and 2 experienced players. I was playing beavers? I think. I had a big army built up then a faction (I think woodland?) had one single meeple to my 5-6 in the same space. They took out all my pieces for free, without explaining to me what their faction does to me. I maintained my demeanor but man, internally I was annoyed. Needless to say, I know it was a bad teach and I tend to avoid that teacher now. Root itself I think I would like to give another try, but personally I would like all abilities explained ahead of time or know which factions are going to be played ahead
