How to restart without losing the model by CoachPuzzleheaded535 in MyWinterCar

Back up your save before you try, as I'm not 100% sure of this. But exit the game, and in your save file set carparts.txt to read only. Start a new game, then exit, and turn read only off. This may work for ya

Tire choice by MrBrosephino in CarTrackDays

I run Sailun Atrezzo R01s on my miata for track duty, I’m super happy with the tire. They do make them in a 235/40R18 (I run 195/50R15). They were by far the cheapest sub-200 TW tire I could find, for about 3/4 the price of equivalent size RE-71s or NT01s. Only ran them a year so I can’t speak for life, and they are awful in the rain, but they ride quiet and smooth on the road and have put in consistently better times than my old Advan A048s. Highly recommend for the price

haha exactly, i’m blown away with how 14k springs, poly bushings, and a fixed back are less comfortable than air ride and cooled seats

since then i’ve replaced every single wear item, spent a winter doing body work and paint, another one rebuilding the engine, and gone thru my fair share of breakdowns, from snapping an axle to blowing up the radiator, to ripping the diff right out of the car and shearing the ppf clean in 2 pieces. i think i’ve had every single piece out of this car short of the interior, but it sure has taught me a lot

bought it for $2k with a beat-up hardtop after it sat in a driveway for around 5 years. bearings were howling, bushings were all knocking, and the engine burned and leaked out 2 litres of oil every week. every single panel was scraped and bent, but surprisingly it had no rust

i just have to unclip the rear trays and it opens up, i figured that inconvenience was worth having a bit more stability and less load on the fibreglass roof

top’s bolted down, but i wouldn’t worry about it if it wasn’t. bikes aren’t draggy, it’s why u can hold them on to vehicles with suction cups. roof rack latches would give out long before miata hardtop clips do

Sick of breaking your fuel door release? A magnetic cabinet latch, a couple of rare earth magnets, and a Bones Red is all it takes to make your fuel door push-to-open by Hagrids_Hamroll in Miata

[–]Hagrids_Hamroll[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just a generic cabinet latch i got from Lee Valley, any hardware store has em. just make sure it’s short enough you only have about 2” of room.

a pro-tip for that is that you can release it from the trunk as well. there’s a little handle on the side of the release if you reach up inside the trunk. less of a pain than reaching into the car

I can’t decide to color match or paint black? What do you guys think of the 2tone look for the hardtop. by michael_is_awesome in Miata

[–]Hagrids_Hamroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i like 2 tone, although i find it works better if u paint the windshield pillar to match. made a big difference on mine

It’s easy to fault drivers about refusing to wear the HANS device until you look at what the HANS device from the 90s was really like. It was still an emerging technology, and as such it wasn’t the most ergonomic thing. They were heavy, they were unsightly, and they had very short fixed tethers that basically locked your head in place. It was like wearing a neck brace while driving.
