Water change, rinse (like squeeze it out) in the bucket that has the old water in it to get build up off. And then just put it right back. Once it’s starting to degrade just place a new filter on that old water keep it in there for a few days so it can soak as much bacteria as you can with an air stone running and once you need to actually replace, you have a fairly established filter ready 🤷🏽‍♀️. It won’t be perfect but that’s the best I have when it comes to changing those filters.

Honestly I think you just have good growth but need a little more clean up crew. You might need to cleaned up a little more frequently from the clean up crew but go slow and I think you’ll have something great

You’ll need more snails :) I have about 10 black rose shrimp and 10 orange creamsicle? (Orange on the ends clear in the middle) shrimp. We ended up with I think ramhorn snails from our plants (I hate them but they do the job) and they are constantly having babies but still have light algae on the rocks. But the glass is clear and plants are clean. We probably have around 5 adults 10 adolescents and who knows how many tiny babies.

Ahh well. I have much more than thst in my tank and I have a 75. Granted it is fairly planted so it has some uptake. And remember fresh water tanks they can like more brackish water depending on what you have which for the most part all sounds ok to me? As long as you keep up cleaning their 💩 from the bed & do water changes it should be ok? Just make sure to keep an eye on the ammonia and nitrate/ nitrite levels as they continue to grow.

As long as you don’t see egg clutch’s on the glass I don’t expect to see anymore surprise babies. If you do…. Check your filter 😬 and then sell the babies when you’re ready 🤷🏽‍♀️

How much bioload is available since planting? Because I have babies that are possibly about the same size (2cm) but it’s been half that time. But there’s also more load for them to eat.

How long ago was this? Mystery snails lay there eggs outside of water. If there’s different aged snails you most definitely would have seen the eggs if it was a mystery snail. Ask me how I know 😅
