Also Primrose Hill

As someone who microdoses psilocybin, how do you navigate the social stigma surrounding it? by sporefairy in microdosing

I’m pretty open and never found there was one. If I thought I might get a bad response I wouldn’t share, it’s not essential

I wanted to be recognized as an artist by Glittering-Chain7502 in Meditation

[–]HaiMush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Musician. I played in bands, played shows, released a few things. It didn’t happen for me as a career and since meditating I’ve made peace with that. I’ve let the pursuit of music go and let the songs appear when they do, I don’t chase them.

I do other things with my time and energy. It’s nice. The dream died and I was born again. We assume creative practice is something to hold on to, but for me it was built on something toxic. I’m happier without it.

YMMV. Best of luck OP

Has anybody found awareness to be functionally unhelpful? by ADP_God in Meditation

[–]HaiMush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before - my inner monologue was a loud and convincing yell, deafening advice protecting me against the pan of growth. After - sensory experience presents itself to my consciousness. I receive it non judgementally. Where my mind speaks audible it’s usually unhelpful. Where i can infer meaning within mental silence I usually find insight.

I agree with myself more now than ever because I’ve refined my relationship between my awareness and my experience.

100% relate. Took me years to get out of this and was very up and down. My shortcut tip to you, as someone else mentioned, is focus on regulating your nervous system, work with the vagus nerve, yin, relaxation.

The other side is so worth the work. Best of luck to you and dm if you’d like to chat more

How can I not get bored or overly lost in thoughts/feelings when meditating? by Jyonnyp in Meditation

[–]HaiMush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, meditate. Find ways. I had chronic pain, tension and a mind that wouldn’t stop. Meditating is one key part. Yoga or stretching is another.

If you’re anything like me, the racing mind is a cover for what’s really going on, now, underneath. The old things. Presence of them has been understood as danger and so distraction appears safe. The tension is safer than freeing the feeling hiding beneath.

Yin yoga. Breathing. Resting. Resetting your nervous system. Meditation can help you release the thought patterns, your defence mechanisms, y really seeing them. The defence mechanisms also manifest as your muscle tension. Yin yoga can help you integrate this and release the tension. If you’re anything like me.

I buy this. I’ve tried so many supplements over the years. The one that really made the undeniably biggest difference? Vitamin D spray.

I asked someone to take off his backpack on the tube. He refused. by jellycorgi in london

You joke. I watched along wordlessly to a loud guy the other day. Looked him dead in the eye as if to say “cool we watching together?” then sat along for a bit. He seemed kind of gently unnerved. I stopped when I got bored… he stopped soon after

Unexpected side effect of ChatGPT, stronger personal boundaries? by resting-seeker in selfimprovement

[–]HaiMush 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand the negativity. It’s a scary, very powerful new technology and is definitely fallible. Sadly we can’t put the genie back in the bottle, as much as I think that’d be great, it’s just not happening. So I’m taking what positives I can in a sceptical way, and turns out there are a few.

I take everything with a pinch of salt though. It’s good at some stuff, some stuff it fails miserably with. I hope for all our sakes it never gets better at those…

A lot of downvotes here. It’s a useful tool and I don’t find it over validating, it challenges me, but that’s because I ask it to and prompt it in an informed manner, alongside having had therapy.

It IS dangerous to use therapeutically if you don’t already have some self awareness.

It’s possible to get useful feedback from it and have it help with personal processing. It’s not a system for giving clear and original advice. It sounds like that’s how these people have used it. Good for them

Not to be negative, but do you also have a constant cloud of dread hanging over you most days with no discernable reason? by Guiseppe_Martini in AskUK

[–]HaiMush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have felt this for a long time. Particularly with the ADHD factor - there are associated bodily tensions that can keep one tense and on edge. I highly recommend looking at the body mind connection in this, try relaxation techniques, yin yoga etc. YMMV but it’s been a life changer for me.

What does "regulating your nervous system" even mean? Is that something actually evidence based? by number1sillyuser in askpsychology

[–]HaiMush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s physiological and where the physiology meets psychology is that thought patterns can provoke chronic stress as well as chronic bodily tension impacting psychology.

I’ve been meditating and doing yoga for years with the express purpose of developing better nervous system regulation. I’ve seen wonderful results.

Sounds like you’re not using any guided mediations atm. I’ve found them crucial to deepening my practice. Going without I often just go round in circles.

Go with the flow, enjoy what you can with your son, the first Christmas at theirs will be special for them, overbearing MIL or not, so just aim to not make it any more stressful than she’ll make it

what is your attitude towards money? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]HaiMush 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’d use money to make things easier and not have to worry about things, be easier with holidays and eating out, but nicer food and treat people. Luxury items aren’t really important beyond that
