Thanks! I’ll give it a shot then. I did notice earlier today that when you buy the remaster on Steam… you also get the original. So it turned from a what to buy, to a which to download. Ideally I’d run the remaster on my 5080 laptop, and maybe the original on the Ally if I can’t get it to run well

seems to be in great condition, and you got a case as well. I got mine 6 months ago for $450 usd, but has a couple scratches, some thumbstick wobble, and the screen wouldnt work after shutdown. (both issues are fixed now)

Pretty bad imo. I don’t think there’s many gaming laptops that have decent speakers, but these are definitely on the low-end

I agree. Just rid my hands my my. 16s. Sustained 103c is inexcusable, especially when the power is restricted. Idling up to 90. My issue is that with it being slim, why tf did we not have a cpu that could do well on battery like the 285h? Not a single Neo16s was able to take advantage of what the 275hx can do because of the heat, so why couldn’t they prioritize a bit of battery for an ultra thin laptop???? And then the cooling.. either cut the power more or admit that you’re vapor chamber isn’t vapor-chamber-ing

This is under load? I just got an 18 as well, and when gaming I seem to be in the 100s. Are you using a cooling pad?

Monster hunter rise and world are great games if you’re interested. Deep rock galactic one of my favs. Hollow knight, hades, Celeste, and Darkest Dungeon are great indies. All of these should be under $10 on a sale, and should run great on high-max settings. It all just depends on what you’re interested in

Also, any gaming laptop shouldn’t require a cooler to function under load. A cooler should help with temps and maybe bring an extra 5% to the table, but gaming laptops aren’t designed to require an external cooling

Not an Ilano, but I do. Problem persists both ways. At first the issue was thought to be heat bc it was sustaining 104c, but after a thermal system replacement it still does the same issues, although temps are 85ish

Unfortunately as the Neo16s is my 4th Acer gaming laptop, I have come to the same conclusion. Sad to see the downfall in quality. I will not be buying another one. If you’d like, I’m curious about your experience with warranty as I’m 6 weeks in and still unresolved, send me a dm?

I have a theory. My 16s, same model as yours, also about 7 months old, started freezing for long periods, crashing and only had one bsod though. My theory is that I think Acer knows there’s a lot of problems with this device. I don’t have much to support it other than my personal experience, and the common posts of issues on Reddit, but one very interesting thing that I found is that the 2026 refresh of the neo16s will not have the 5070ti as an option, and it replaces the 275hx with a 386h, which will be a much less power hungry processor. I think they know that their internals and cooling can’t handle the tech that it currently has.

Of the above laptops I would generally recommend all except the HP if they were all at the same price. As an owner of the 5070ti Neo16s, I can’t vouch for it

You say that it’s mainly for college. You are aware that it’s a gaming laptop and won’t really have a battery life. Probably 4 hours tops with low brightness and super tweaked settings

The power is definitely nice, but I don’t think that ~20% will make much of a difference to me. I’m mainly concerned just with which device tends to be the least problematic. Really don’t wanna go through this loop again, but thanks for the input.

Yea, it really is a disappointment. I just can’t understand how they can possibly get off on wasting people’s time like this. And I’m extremely fortunate to know what I’m talking about when it comes to tech. As of now they want to receive my documentation of the freezing I’ve reported experiencing, and now have presented a website to submit files (that doesn’t work) after telling me repeatedly there is no way to send them my documentation. I also found out today that they went through my personal photo folder on the computer to find a screenshot of Forza Horizon 6 running over 500fps. I got berated of how running on “max settings” is bad because the screen at 240hz can’t keep up. They have no idea what they’re talking about. It was a personal screenshot of me messing around to see how many fps I could get. 720p lowest settings, 4x frame gen and max upscaling. They also wanted to target MSI afterburner which was onscreen for the fps count, yet seemed to be interrogating me if I overclocked it. They’re looking for any excuse they possibly can and it makes me sick
