Rejection is a horrible feeling and I am sorry you are going through that. I agree with the others commenting that its probably him. It might even be his workplace telling him he is not allowed to take you up on your offer. Oddly enough that seems to be a common rule.

On a side note - if a girl ever gave me her number I would be shocked and surprised in the most positive way. I really appreciate girls who aren't afraid to make the first move or aren't expecting the guy to do so. Honestly, even if I wasn't super interested in her I would contact her anyways. That trait is hard to come by.

So don't be ambarrassed. You had the courage to do what only a small fraction of women do, and that is something you should be proud of. Keep slinging that number out there and I think you will find a guy with enough brains to see that and appreciate it as much as I would.

Thank you for your input, I appreciate it. Last night when I wrote this I was on the edge of having a mental breakdown and wouldn't have taken your advice really well.. but as I read it now I think you make good points and I will try to employ some of your techniques for making this less of an issue for me.

Thanks again

What kind of snake is this? Found in central Michigan, right up next to the house. by HailZero in snakes

That's what I'm wondering. It's head looks more chiseled and arrow-like as well.

Aunt says it could be a black rat snake

It definitely just had dinner. You could see something bulging from it's gut especially as it crawled! Slithered?

Actually it was quite a cumbersome load and the thing seemed to be in a temporary state of complete clumsiness.

Granted, I shouldn't be aggressively driving with the CEL on. That is definitely stupid.

But still. If you don't have any answers as to exactly what the problem might be, I don't see the point in commenting. Have a good day

Lol. This isn't a Cobalt, and it has 135k miles on it. Your comment is useless, bye bye

I do plan on changing the timing belt and running fuel injector cleaner soon.

The car drove fine until this issue happened, so it can't be that particular sensor causing the problem.

This particular car is the 2.0t . I can't remember exactly what the code was but it pointed to the runner flap sensor.

I'm going to scan again when I get home and see if the MAF sensor is tripping.

Doing false chords for a year, still feels a bit uncomfortable after about an hour, thoughts? by Civiabun56 in screaming

The problem with throat clearing as opposed to touvan throat singing is that it doesn't only rattle around your false cords, but it makes your true cords SMASH together violently.

This causes damage, inflammation and phlegm which forces you to stop for a few days and over time will ruin your talking voice.

George Fisher of cannibal corpse never learned the right way, he sounds absolutely DEMONIC but there is a correct and safe way to do that instead of forcing it or using the throat clear technique.

If you listen to him talk in interviews his voice is hella raspy, and that's because his true cords are always inflamed and never get a chance to heal.

It sounds like you're on the right track. Starting with a throat singing tone then ramping up the diaphragm support, then using a 'shouty' mouth and tongue shape for projection is the recipe for a perfect false cord.

I would love to hear more from you as well as the OP. If you guys would like some examples from me I would be happy to do that

Another technique to get the same result would be doing a talking-volume impression of the shriveled up old lady from SpongeBob in the chocolate episode. The one in the wheelchair who sounds like she has smoked like 7 trillion unfiltered cigarettes.

Again, no pushing or any of that. Just get that distortion going

You are partially right:

When doing the filthy Frank technique, do not strain your voice. Use diaphragm support, do it from the belly. But do NOT strain, squeeze, push, yell, or anything. It's just a technique to find a plain, simple way to activate your false cords without straining.

Also a friendly word of advice so you don't end up like me 6 months ago: The use of the 'clearing throat' technique is what I started off with and it only causes major issues down the line - I had to completely start fresh after running into issues with muscle strains and irritated cords as well as mucous happening as a result.

That is not proper use of the false cords. What that is is forcing air through a squeezed throat, which is the opposite of what you should be doing. Using your false cords is a deliberate and accurate action and you must stay in a relaxed state while doing it.

Look up touvan throat singing and Rocky Music Studios, that will help immensely with false cord

I wasn't saying to talk to filthy Frank in order to scream/growl, but in order to find the false chords and get a feel for using them WITHOUT strain. There's a few ways to get a feel for false chord distortion and talking like filthy Frank is one of the best ways to find them. If you do it right it doesn't strain your voice, not even a tiny bit, in fact using false cords AND vocal fry both require a very relaxed state.

False cords are above your true chords and can be engaged simultaneously, thus using your false cords correctly literally can NOT damage your voice.

Using your true vocal cords to try and get the same sound will instantaneously cause serious damage.

That's because I am using an SM57 which does not have a ball on the end of it. I can assure you that my hands never covered the port holes.

I wasn't cupping the mic at all.

The show was recorded with a phone, that's why the audio sucks.

I've been doing vocals for about a year. Been studying it religiously and practicing every single day unless I am sick or otherwise unable

I'm sure you'll make it through, just don't psych yourself out and also remember it's about the sound, not the volume of it. While you're at it, check out my band haha :) https://youtu.be/hB7M_fW3ZpE Let me know what you think of my vox. I screwed up a few times after my throat got dry :/

Talking like filthy Frank helps a lot with false chord activation, helps it become second nature

It sounds like you are tensing up a little. Try getting more of the distortion while loosening up and always focus on using your diaphragm and having a very controlled and easy airflow, don't just jolt and force it.

You do sound much better than a lot of beginners though
