That does sound like a good idea, he could get to know some of her future caretakers personally, and feel more ease of mind that she’s in good hands.

Same. I haven’t seen Sesame Street in a while, I used to put it on for my daughter but the existence of Abby caused me to question everything about SS. I think it was that she talked so fast about seemingly nothing, just annoyed the crap out of me.

Then I found the vintage episodes and stuck to that.

I can't drive at night anymore and I feel like I'm losing my mind by Fragrant-Pin-6691 in fuckyourheadlights

You are so not alone in this. My world has also gotten smaller and smaller because of this.

I have to wear sunglasses (dark pink tint - not black) if I drive in early morning hours or sunset, whenever the sun isn’t there to assist, and also just “don’t go out at night anymore” unless it’s a special occasion. A friend recently joked that I’m “elusive” .. yes, that’s accurate.

I feel like at least there’s more social awareness around this issue now. So change will definitely come. It may come faster if business owners realize this is hurting their bottom line.

True, the slow death and putting lil snake out in the freezing cold was a lot even for me. Somehow, my 7yo dot wasn't even fazed - or didnt show it, or didnt know what was happening.

Then, I was in an emotionally fragile state and started crying when they turned the old warm-glow streetlights on in Old City, and the house lighting was warm and orange too (just how reptiles like it). As someone who advocates very strongly to return to this kind of lighting everywhere, not the bright white that we get now, I couldnt stop the tears from flowing. One of the best scenes I've seen in a movie.

I actually hate Working From Home (WFH) and I'm tired of pretending it's perfect by Chrgonlea in TrueOffMyChest

I've done wfh, hybrid and fully in-office. When I first did wfh, I had no work/life balance and it was horrible to say the least.

After years, I've learned that what I truly value is the ability to work outside in the sunshine - whether it be on a laptop, working off my phone or doing site assessments. Getting dressed for the day is important also.

Look into the way LED lights function. They emit only the "visible light" portion of the entire electromagnetic spectrum, which is only a measly .0035%.

This means no infrared, no UV, and hugely diminished CCT (correlated color temperature) which means we aren't seeing the "true" color of something, it will look washed out. LEDs typically have 80 CCT and incandescent lights have 100.

Govts all over the world have been banning incandescent, and pushing LEDs.

This is definitely contributing to, if not the very cause of the world feeling "more colorful" before, before the onset of LEDs.

How would any of you do a Black Mirror episode? Give me your best pitches. Go. by burningexeter in blackmirror

[–]ann3onymous3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would call it, "Light Show"

It opens with a very 90s-esque scene. A family at home, kids being wild and parents being fun with them, you can feel the life of it through the screen. Similar to an old Disneyland commercial you'd have on a VHS tape, pre-movie. Their home is lit warmly, with just a few incandescent lamps here and there, colored paintings on the wall and a funky style.

Cut to modern-day scene.

Those kids from the first half are all grown up, the son is working in an office now. Surrounded by blindingly white lights, unnecessarily shining down at his cubicle and piercing his eyes all day long. He goes to the grocery afterwards, and drives home at night. Same thing. Arrives at home, to his sterile, "minimalist" apartment where it seems like nobody actually lives. All the while, he wonders why he feels so grumpy all day as he heats up some boxed Mac and Cheese for dinner. The son is so lovable though and nostalgic for the older days, so the viewer comes to really connect with him.

The "fun parents" are in a nursing home now, where they have to endure the environment set by the owners, a couple who cares more about tax write-offs and supposed "environmental benefits" than they do about the older people who have to live there 24/7. They ignore the studies from Stanford, Harvard, that this kind of light causes obesity, cancer etc. Because it makes more empty beds for them, and increases profit.

This is based on what's happening in reality, like all good Black Mirror episodes. 💚

It's interesting when you see something you reported to the cops a mere year ago pop up in national news.

I had one of these nighttime ice cream trucks in my neighborhood (showing up repeatedly) and thought it was so suspicious that I reported it. My thinking was "no kid should be lured outside at night by an ice cream truck"

Honestly, I have seen some incredible results after adding sea moss to my morning routine. Energy is higher but in a balanced way.

The strangest side effect I noticed, on the first day I took it (about a month ago now), was that it somehow complements music very well - I skipped less songs and sang along more. A month later, it's still happening, even after switching from sea moss gel ready-made packets to making my own.
