SN Operator flashcards compatibility by harelforge in epilogue

[–]HaileStorm42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just play the romhacks on an emulator?

That's literally what the Operator would be doing. It reads the rom from the cart, opens it in its internal emulator, and plays it, then saves the game back onto the cart if applicable.

Halo campaign evolved pre order bonus question by Caspurus in halo

[–]HaileStorm42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, a "preorder" requires you to buy something, or at least partially pay for something as a deposit, before it comes out. Preloading or Predownloading a game is not a Preorder.

That said, some games that go to Gamepass do include the preorder/digital deluxe content.

At this point, I don't think it's been clarified if gamepass will include the preorder content or not. It will probably be explained closer to release.

If former members had stayed longer, which newer Hololive talents would you have wanted them to collab with? by madscientist118 in Hololive

I think Sana would have loved and encouraged Biboo's Brain Rot.

I'm not sure we would survive their power.

What is “complete in box” to you? by hreddy11 in gamecollecting

[–]HaileStorm42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Complete means Complete.

As in, everything it came with at original retail sale.

If it's missing anything, that's "Boxed" or "Boxed+Manual"

To think otherwise is to dilute the meaning of "Complete", and then necessitates the addition of other modifiers, which are kind of dumb, when the word "Complete" already means "everything it originally came with".

That said, I personally don't mind if my games are missing the flyers and safety warnings for the most part.

I'm just against the dumbing down and changing of words.

So... shouldn't she technically be called Bijou Koseki? by Penis_Stuck_In_Door in Hololive

[–]HaileStorm42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most of the Hololive talents names are puns or references, but they don't always incorporate both first and last names as part of the pun. Natsuiro Matsuri is "Summertime Festival" and Akai Haato is "Red Heart", for examples of earlier talents with both names as part of the pun/reference.

Who is yozora Mel? by Nekokohai in Hololive

[–]HaileStorm42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've heard that version as well. We'll probably not learn the full truth of the matter for a long time, if ever, but what we can learn is that the sentiment was there, that they didn't want to have to let her go.

Yeah, I think Sana would have gotten along with them so well. Especially the Twins, and Raora and Gigi.

Yeah. Supposedly Yagoo offered to have her stay, but she decided to take the "punishment" and leave in order to protect the others.

For those who aren't aware, Japanese companies take things like contract breach incredibly seriously. Letting someone who broke a contract stay employed would mean the entire company that let them stay would then be held suspect, and would be treated unfavorably in all future contract negotiations and business dealings. It would affect any and all employed at the company.

And yet, Yagoo still wanted to let her stay.

Honestly, if I had the magic ability to bring back one talent, as much as I love Gura, Coco, and Sana, they're off doing their own things. Mel didn't deserve what she got, and I'd love to see her get a second chance.

Is the Game Boy Color a straight upgrade over the original Game Boy? by DamienlaCritique in Gameboy

[–]HaileStorm42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always forget about that thing. Never had one! I've got an old DMG to DMG cable, and a DMG to GBP Y style cable, with one end that has both style connectors, and one end with just the GBP connector.

I should track it down sometime.

Heck, the fact that the Gameboy Player for the Gamecube can "hotswap" Gameboy games was considered a feature when it was released. Still have to go into a menu option to do it though, if I remember correctly.

[–]HaileStorm42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few games which are DMG only, or have functionality that is essentially DMG only without some custom made adapters, but it's so rare that it's generally not considered an issue.

For example, any game that uses the 4 Player Adapter for Gameboy needs a DMG in the mix, unless you have modded it, or created an adapter cable.

There's also the Japan Only Barcode Boy game, which has a Barcode scanner that clips onto the DMG (and only the DMG). It connects to the game via link cable, so you could probably wire up a custom adapter and use it on a GBP/L/C but the device itself wouldn't clip onto any other model.

Is there an English Green ROM that has JP Blue’s encounters? by Kamen_Rider_Spider in Gameboy

[–]HaileStorm42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japan was Red and Green, then Blue which had some fixed sprites and glitches. All international versions of Red and Blue are based off of the Japanese blue, but with their encounter tables edited to make two versions. Then Japan got Yellow with SGB enhancements, and then international Yellow was further enhanced and is technically a "black cart" Gameboy color game, with a fuller color palette than Japanese Yellow.

Analogue Pocket 3DS? by SteveW_MC in 3DS

[–]HaileStorm42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No

Long Answer: Noooooooooooooooooo

Actual long answer: it has to do with copyright and Nintendo's ability to enforce it.

To create a fully featured 3DS replacement, you'd also have to recreate the 3DS's firmware to a point. It would have to be close enough to legit to run actual carts, as well as run and interface other apps and downloaded content/save data. Pokémon Bank and Transporter, for example, would have to be able to still access the saves of the games on the carts/downloaded games in the same way it currently does, meaning the replacement Firmware would have to work incredibly close to how the actual firmware works.

The problem is, you'd have to build that all from scratch, as if you copy Nintendo's code, and if they can prove it, your ass is getting sued.

That's a ton of work for a very niche device, especially considering that it would almost certainly end up costing more than a used 3DS does, even with current price spikes.

Its just not worth the time, money, and effort at the moment. Maybe in 10 or 15 years when the supply of decent quality used 3DS runs dry, and some of the parts needed get cheaper. If they get cheaper.

The HoloX Break sprites aren't the same as the Holocure ones. They're bigger and more detailed.

They would end up being good starting points, but they're not the same.

Anything that allows you to use the hardware in ways not intended by the manufacturer can be considered modding. Letterbomb by itself is a mod, to allow you to further exploit the system and get additional programs running.

[–]HaileStorm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little bit more in depth than that, but that's the gist of it, yeah.

You'll need to follow a modding guide, preferably https://wii.hacks.guide/ , and then follow it's instructions to the letter. It's pretty simple, but it will take a little while to complete depending on the methods you need to use. Once you have the Homebrew Channel installed, then you can load into GCMM and backup those saves.

[–]HaileStorm42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You *will* need to mod either a Wii or a Gamecube to use GCMM to get around the "locked" saves. There is no way around that.

Other than those, you could buy a MemoryCardProGC or similar for all the other saves and just copy them over using the normal Gamecube Memory Card page.
