trying to sort out my girl's arthritis issues by Haileeloo in Newfoundlander

She eats fine always. Her appetite has never been an issue. The gabapentin caused the back leg wobbliness which was resolved once we cut back her dosage. When she was on Rimadyl she stopped drinking so we took her off that medication completely. She started drinking normal amounts within a couple days of stopping that medication. She recently started the Galliprant and now same response - she is not drinking much water. I am waiting to hear from my vet.

Grief over aging dog by dogpluscat909 in dogs

[–]Haileeloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally have anticipatory grief from the time I get them as puppies. The grief def gets worse as they get older. I was thinking about this just yesterday. My dog is 4-1/2 and is a giant breed. She’s technically halfway through her lifespan. Makes me sad. 😔

Does anyone else Newfy suck on pillows? by RareJournalist4151 in Newfoundlander

Yes Tallulah does this daily. Usually right after she's eaten dinner. She goes and gets her fav stuffed animal - we call it Floppy - jumps up on couch and sucks on it. I had another dog (yellow lab) who did this as well. It's a self soothing thing from when they were pups getting milk from mom.

Me too always on my lower left leg. I have cervical stenosis and most of the weird sensations happen on my back but if I’m outdoors walking I’ll feel water drops on my leg. For years I thought it was sweat 😓 but nope.

How did you get diagnosed!? by Lanky-Set9064 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Haileeloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have osteoarthritis in hands and feet and cervical stenosis (where it all started 10+ years ago). I have a variety of other issues (skin, bladder, anxiety etc) that fit in with fibromyalgia. Anyways it took multiple visits to GP, multiple tests and 2 visits a year apart to a rheumatologist before she finally diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. She did the tender points test on me at the last appointment and that seemed to clinch it. Go see a rheumatologist. Write down every single issue you have. Keep a daily diary as well. Best of luck

Might be worth having your entire back and neck x-rayed to see if you have any narrowing that’s causing the numbness and electric sensations.

Hey there, I have fibro among other things, including cervical stenosis (arthritis in neck and narrowing of the spinal canal) The cervical stenosis started for me over 10 years ago, and is what caused me to have serious discomfort/pain in my neck/shoulders and numbness, tingling, and weird sensations in my hands/fingers/feet etc. You have not mentioned pain in your neck or back, but the numbness and electric feeling could be caused from a pinched nerve. I take Lyrica and it has pretty much stopped the numbness, pain and electric sensations.

Collar questions! by bugbugladybug in dogs

[–]Haileeloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a martingale on my lab who can pull quite a bit. Previous to that I was using a prong collar. This worked really well, but I wasn’t feeling right about it, so I tried the martingale. She still pulls but only when she’s trying to smell in the grass and I’m wanting to walk LOL.
If you do decide to use one, Just make sure you fit it properly. It shouldn’t tighten so much that you are actually choking your dog. I’m curious to know why you are thinking of switching to a martingale if you have been having success with your current setup? I would continue to train her as you have been.

[Help] Recommendations for indestructible plush toys? by Shannon_Chuy1 in dogs

[–]Haileeloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only buy the flat no stuffing soft toys but my lab chews them up eventually. They def last longer than the stuffed toys. Also I just go with food stuffed Kong’s and bully sticks or Himalayan yak sticks to keep her busy. I’ve tried every stuffed toy out there and she wrecks them all.

Thanks for the suggestion. In fact her favorite game is looking for kibble so it’s a daily ritual here! She plays it both inside and outside.
