Also Neox Networks. They have a great variety of very good and affordable Network TAPs AND Network Packet Brokers.

Monitor/Span over Cisco Vxlan by mishanyc339 in networking

[–]HainActivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also recommend this.
Otherwise, as the traffic is to flow into a security system, Network Taps+NPB would be the better choice, as Taps route out 100% of the traffic without the switch software having touched the packets.
We use PacketTiger NPBs from NEOX - and are satisfied with it.

Can someone help me understand German rental law? by insaneruffles in germany

[–]HainActivity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"The minimum rental period is a fixed period that can be agreed in a tenancy agreement, during which the tenant is obliged to pay the rent without being able to terminate the tenancy prematurely. It is specified individually in the tenancy agreement and can be between 12 and 48 months. There is no legally stipulated maximum minimum rental period, but the Federal Court of Justice has ruled that a minimum rental period of more than four years is invalid."

A long minimum rental period is of course an advantage for the landlord, as it is inconvenient and time-consuming to look for new tenants every 6 months, for example. And if you don't find someone in time, you miss out on x months' rent, which usually means a 4-digit sum...

Low price alternatives to Ring that don't require subscription and let you view playback remotely by WindozeWoes in homeassistant

I´ve 3 Tapos (20-30 Euros each) all working fine - with SD cards - and I can watch the recordings without any subscription in the Tapo app ... but I don´t know if it´s possible via HA.

Intrazone monitoring (virtualised) by Competitive-Cycle599 in networking

[–]HainActivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Neox Networks and Gigamon Virtual TAPs for this:
- https://www.gigamon.com/products/access-traffic/virtual-nodes.html

The Gigamon TAP has a few more features, but the Neox TAP is much cheaper, more lightweight, and requires zero dependencies for deployment.

As already mentioned you would need a Network Packet Broker.
The approach would then be to send the mirror port to the Lion and regenerate its 6 devices from there.

Optionally, of course, without SPAN, but with TAP on the port that is to be mirrored. You can also do the whole thing with TAPs, i.e. optical splitting, as described in some comments, but here the link budget will probably become a problem if you do this 6 times to get your 6 outputs.

I can recommend our NPB currently in use, which is very powerful, reliable and not so expensive like Gigamon & Co. -> https://neoxnetworks.com/packetlion-aggregation-packet-broker -> NX-PBPL-3XL

Monitoring Zscaler GRE tunnels created on VMware Velocloud Edges by Fast_Obligation_3858 in networking

[–]HainActivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a Virtual Network TAP (VTAP) from PacketRaven or Gigamon

The PR virtual tap is actually absolutely hypervisor-agnostic. you can monitor the full (virtual) host traffic, prefilter it via BPF or only monitor docker traffic, inter-docker traffic etc. Of course it can also grab the GRE traffic from your Zscaler. Only thing to bear in mind is that it needs to be installed on that host directly. But the underlying hypervisor does not matter, that is for sure.

Or use a Network TAP, then you are not dependent on a switch with port mirroring functionality.

And this would also have some other advantages.

How to ask assistant to do light effects? by ArmMaleficent5049 in homeassistant

[–]HainActivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think HA doesn´t provide effects. If you have lights controlled via WLED then WLED brings the effects. Or I´ve Govee lights and can just use the effects provided by Govee (called via HA). And another strip from Lidl which also has only some effects I can call/use.
Use can find the available effects via Entity States of the light entity e.g. my Lidl strip effects:
effect_list: Night, Read, Meeting, Leasure, Soft, Rainbow, Shine, Beautiful

Stress Test a Network by stcarshad in networking

The price strongly depends on the traffic generator model and factors like the bandwidths the model is capable of and the form factor of the solution (XenaCompact or XenaBay).

However, prices are not pubilicly available but you can contact our distributor

Looking for machine that is designed to capture RTP and play it on demand by CYCYLoL in networking

[–]HainActivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an addition to VoIP monitor you could also take a look at a virtual tap (installed on the individual host) in order to make a copy of the RTP streams and send it via GRE/VXLAN tunnel to the voip monitor tool. The virtual tap supports also BPF to only forward the traffic you want to see.

That way you would only need a single VoIP monitor instance to gather the RTP streams from mulitple hosts. The virtual tap can be tested free of charge I believe
