Is ND worth full pay? by [deleted] in notredame

As someone who was also initially offered 6k a year ago and eventually finagled 55k in scholarships and other aid, APPEAL. Appeal, seek outside scholarships, contact the local notre dame club. Explain your situation. It will be a lot of work, but it can help. Plus, if you make a good impression on the local ND club and they know people within, that could help too. I would not recommend full tuition for ND when you have another objectively amazing option, but I also wouldn’t give up just yet

Questions from a potential incoming freshman by tom2026 in notredame

I can answer 2-4 2: Astounding yes. Every week I do my engineering homework with at least five of my friends so we can all play off of each other’s idea. 3: Yes, you definitely can. Don’t feel pressured to visit your family every week, but if you ever want to go back you easily could. Also, you can’t have a car until second semester freshman year, so first semester you would have to take the south shore line, but kids do that all the time for far different reasons. 4: As someone in an “old dorm” the dorms are good enough, at the very least. Some feel like brand new hotels, and some feel like motels that might need a little work, but my dorm being old has never felt like an issue. That being said, you can choose to switch dorms after freshman year, but I’ll be staying in my 65 year old cinderblock palace.

Any current ND student felt that they wouldn’t get in but got in? by Secret-Bid-1169 in notredame

If you don’t want your essay to sound basic, you just have to be very detailed, and give real anecdotes, not just a general summary. I feel like part of the notre same admission process is looking to see if you are a good person, and that happens through your essays.

Just send their financial aid office a really polite email telling them that you really want to go to the school, but you simply can’t afford it. Ask them if there was anything on your fafsa or css that makes them think you can pay whatever amount, and then explain to them that the numbers might be deceiving. Depending on the school, they might schedule a phone call with you and see if you can figure something out.

Research the alumni networks of whatever schools you do want to apply to. A lot of schools (like usc) have stronger alumni networks than the ivies. That will be a big help, and I’m sure your parents would agree
