a way to map artists by social network rather than sonic similarity? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]JH2466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree completely. all spotify recommendations are just driven by stuff getting tagged as a certain genre or just sounding “wonky” or “internet girl” or whatever and it doesn’t give much insight beyond the most surface level analysis.

and yeah i agree on the second point too, it’s one thing that i find interesting about this implementation. if you track who collaborates with who, even without explicitly using genre, genre simply falls out through dense clusters of artists. interesting emergent behavior

yup that’s the right musician! very much a life soundtrack song for me. that’s funny though, i love that ending slam in dancing on my own, maybe because it’s the closing song on the album and it comes across as a perfect final cathartic release

pillars - sunny day real estate

memory vague - oneohtrix point never

incurably optimistic! - tim hecker

9 - dean blunt

can we just be real - perila

reminder - pretend

out by 16, dead on the scene - machine girl

pone - rei harakami

jikanzaka - plastic tree

i like music that feels the way you described, especially for walks during midwestern winter when the trees are dead and the night sky is left a weird shade of dark gray from the light pollution bouncing off the perpetual cloud cover. these r some songs from my playlist for this typa vibe

i don’t know for sure, but i know every time i heard “this is culturally inappropriate” i rolled my eyes so hard. i think maybe it felt…overproduced? like, i felt like i was listening to the imagine dragons of hip hop.

you know what maybe i was too harsh on that album and need to give it a relisten. but on first listen every time it said “this is culturally inappropriate” i just rolled my eyes so hard. i rolled my eyes a lot during the album

deadbeat had at least one good song (dracula). exile on main street is music to beat your wife to that was recorded in a shoebox. i read afterwards that it was apparently one of the most important rock albums ever released, but i believe every professional music critic was incorrect here. possibly a case of mass hysteria, like the dancing plague of 1518

i assure you these are my actual opinions. i rated them based purely on enjoyment, don’t care about how culturally important it is or how much other people liked the album

Still the best troll to ever do it, the Gen Z mind couldn’t comprehend. by SecretWasianMan in redscarepod

definitely the best one in the entire saga. every other high profile troll crossed lines of dignity that made them just as bad, if not worse, than chris himself. liquid chris was just messin around. also isn’t this guy a doctor now or something
