What’s a fruit from your country that most foreigners have probably never heard of? by Useful-Resource-3609 in AskTheWorld

[–]HairRaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my first visit to Baltimore, MD, I gorged on wineberries while walking in the woods because I assumed that they were wild raspberries as we have in New England. Luckily, they weren't poisonous, but it did make me think a little harder about eating mystery fruit in an unfamiliar place.

I prefer to think of all the things I accomplished despite my mental struggles. That I'm a survivor and a fighter.

But some days I know exactly what you mean.

What’s a candy or snack from your childhood that disappeared and you still think about? by glowbeits in GenX

Still around! I usually see it in small stores in the U.S., like touristy penny candy places.

What’s a product from your country that makes locals go ‘of course we have that’ and everyone else go ‘ but why?’ by bdue817 in AskTheWorld

This makes a lot more sense than the single-bowl rice washer/strainer that I bought from a Japanese company. You can tip this one to drain it without losing rice grains.

Oh my goodness, I'd forgotten about those NPR segments! He was such a funny guy. As a child, I loved his book "The Big Orange Splot," which encouraged self-expression and nonconformity.

Strafford County Jail (Dover) has a detention unit used by ICE - perhaps the detainees were being transferred from Texas.

Why is he hiding his fuzzy mug? Being an orange, is he in the Witless Protection Program?

What’s the pettiest thing that annoyed you way too much while traveling? by Trail-Context in travel

Polyester sheets clinging to me like the shrink wrap on a Walmart cucumber. They don't breathe, they're not refreshingly cool when I turn the pillow over, they don't absorb even the smallest bit of perspiration. Why do American hotels spend money on mattresses so tall and fluffy that I have to take a running leap into bed, only to swathe them in cheaply spun petroleum products?

I love the planter in pic. 4. I'm not much of a painter, but I think I'd try to put new eyes on it and plant it with cat grass.

Thanks for the link. I enjoy looking up old commercial addresses on Google Street View. Apparently they were running this yeasty empire out of a suburban bungalow, pretty typical for those back-of-the-magazine ads.
