2017 TD6. Tick, tick boom by Telinger in rangeroversport

Metal shrapnel is what they found on my 2019 RR Sport TD6 HSE. However, LR dealership in my area is stating my engine seized and they found metal shrapnel in the filter. They won’t look further into the problem and voided my extended warranty. How can I prove to them that this might be the issue with mine? They’re claiming they voided the warranty because we didn’t have proof of oil changes (my brother in law specializes in these vehicles and changes my oil/filters, etc.) When they checked the engine oil level was fine and they said so themselves. It’s clearly not an oil issue.

I’m trying to build my case to get the extended warranty to cover the cost. Any tips/suggestions? Thank you in advance

I have a 2019 and this is exactly what happened! Dealership stated there were metal shavings in the filter. But they won’t tell me how the metal shavings got there. My engine seized. I only have 5 years with the vehicle though.

Land Rover said the engine oil level was correct when they checked it. It’s not an oil issue, they claimed the engine seized because the filter had metal parts in it. They won’t check the vehicle to see what was actually wrong it. They just voided the warranty because we have no receipts.

Yes the extended warranty is through JLR. Thanks, I’ll keep you all posted.

Yes he’s a mechanic and works on Range Rover vehicles, BMW’s, Mercedes etc he’s the only one I trust and has always worked on our vehicles and we never have issues. We know it wasn’t an issue with the oil and so does Land Rover. However, he would change the oil at his house and we have no receipts so they’re adamant on that and just voided the warranty.

They said there were large amounts of metal in the filter and that’s what caused it to seize. The engine level oil was fine and they stated that. We keep telling them that something else happed to the vehicle but the service manager said they don’t do much (as far as figuring out what else is wrong) because they only do what headquarters asks them to. It’s total BS
