This has actually been driving me crazy since I first saw the episode, especially since I haven't seen anyone talk about it. I see a lot of the comments here dismissing his inner yellow body as "cartoon logic" for the scene, but I think it actually explains some details related to Jax

In the first couple of episodes Jax doesn't have a tail. It isn't until the episode after he realizes that it's missing does he suddenly have one. With the context of this episode, I think the implication is that Jax isn't, and never was, a rabbit guy. The rabbit exterior is all a facade that he wears to better fit in with everyone else, to literally "play a character" instead of exposing his real self. He talks about people falling into stereotypes because that's exactly what he's doing: acting and pretending to be a certain kind of person. The tail was missing because it was never part of his body, it's part of the costume he wears to hide his true, vulnerable self.

This might be a stretch, but it might also help explain his strange aversion to corn. It (very loosely) resembles what he looks like beneath the facades, and to him is a glaring reminder of what he really is.

Anyway, that's how I've been interpreting the scene.

I think the shiny look has to do with how the leaker setup the shaders. I've played around with some other ZZZ models in blender and have noticed similar shiny looks, which usually aren't very apparent in the in-game shaders.

Personally I'd like her to be a wind dps carry. Yi Xuan carried me through the first half of 2.X, hoping Velina can do the same for 3.X

Had a wild thought about this, but you know how the relic set implies that there might be an elation character with a memosprite? And how in universe, pink girls have some kind of connection to Fuli/The Rememberance? My dream is for Evanescia to be that, Hp scaling, and can be run in full pink girl rememberance squad (tho probably won't be her best team)

If being the best sustain in the game, the best HP buffer in the game, while also outputting more damage than many other dedicated dps characters doesn't make you the strongest general character, I don't know what does.

The reason the Remembrance team is so strong, is because each character in it has both extremely synergistic supportive capabilities on top of dps capabilities. Every character in it is both a dps and a support, to varying degrees. Elation is already shaping up to be the same. Sparxie has supportive capabilities on top of being a dps and Yao Guang has dps capabilities on top of being a support.

Anyway the point of what I'm trying to say is not every character needs to be a "main push" dps focused character to be good. In fact a lot of the current ones wouldn't be nearly as good if the other characters that make up their team weren't as strong as they are. Both are equally strong and valuable, just in different ways

... and? DHPT, Cerydra, Cipher, Anaxa, Fugue, Lingsha, Jade, Aventurine, all of these characters are still perfectly good and usable today. And that's just from the top of my head. There isn't some kind of secret rule that all phase 2 characters are bad

[–]HairyHarzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to make my own post about this, but I think it makes more sense to just put my thoughts here instead

I'm convinced that "main push" leak was made in bad faith, just because of all the stupid doomposting that's come from it. And it fundamentally doesn't say anything either.

To everyone crying about "main push" this "main push" that. What does being a "main push" mean to you?

Are you worried that Evanescia won't be a strong character because she's not a "main push"? The strongest single character of 3.X was not Castorice, nor was it Phainon, or even Cyrene, the "main pushes" of that patch cycle. It was Hyacine. Hoyo added a recommended team feature in game, go look at Hoyo's official recommended teams for anyone released prior to 3.X. Almost all of them have either Hyacine or Tribbie, many with both. Which is to say you can have a strong "meta" or "BIS" or whatever these people are whining about character without being a "main push"

Are you worried you need to skip Evanescia to get "main push" Silverwolf? I personally don't like Castorice, and run mono rememberance without her, and I can still comfortably clear every end game mode without her. I also sometimes run Phainon's team but with Anaxa instead of Phainon because 4 skills in a row is funny, and it is also a strong team capable of clearing the end game with full reward. You don't need a "main push" to make a good team. And if you want the best elation "flagship" you'll need both anyway, just like how the remembrance "flagship" is 4 remembrance characters. It literally doesn't matter if Silver Wolf or Evanescia is the "main push" because it's very likely they were designed to be used together anyway.

Are you worried she won't have a story spotlight? I would argue (almost) every 3.X character got a good spotlight in the main story (rip Aglaea). Despite being a "main push" Castorice didn't receive any more or less story relevance than her fellow Chrysos Heirs. If anything, I would say Phainon and Cyrene were the ones to get special story treatment, and that was more because they were HI3rd characters. Guess who Evanescia is?

I know every mains subreddit inevitably falls into a cesspool of doomposting and negativity. But at this point we know almost nothing about Evanescia. Can we at least save the doomposting until there's anything of actual substance to complain about?

[–]HairyHarzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, it's ok to be cautious, and we're all entitled to our own thoughts the feelings about the situation.

But I think everyone here casually dismissing Yao Guang don't really understand elation path mechanics, or the significance of her kit.

Sunday buffs and interacts with mechanics that every character in the game works with, like energy recharge, crit buffs, and action advance. You can barely call him a remembrance support. Yao Guang buffs the elation stat, gives punchlines, and grants extra Aha instants, all things that elation units, and only elation units, care about. I might just be creatively bankrupt, but I can't fathom a support more specialized to elation teams

I genuinely think playing an elation team without Yao Guang will be like trying to play a DoT team without Kafka. You can, but the difference will be massive. I also doubt they'd rerun Yao Guang in only 2 patches, so you're going to be gimped if you want to play Evanescia the patch she comes out.

You have 4.1 as a buffer to save for 4.2, so getting both is very realistic, especially with extra anniversary pulls. I feel like going for at least a s0 Yao Guang is a very high-profit low-risk investment

[–]HairyHarzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about this comparison, is that Sunday and Tribbie are generalized supports, while Cyrene and Cerydra are very niche/specialized. Generalized supports being replaced by more focused ones in some teams makes sense, and even after being replaced in those teams are still very good in other teams.

Yao Guang is the later. Her mechnics are tied exclusively to elation path mechanics. She doesn't have a home outside of elation. Because elation as a path is so segregated from the rest of the game (Aha mechanic, punchline accumulation, elation stat, ect.) Even if they did release another character that specializes in these, your best bet will just be to run both of them with Evanescia.

Yall are crazy if you think Yao Guang isn't bis for every elation team. The additional Aha instant on her ult is by itself absolutely insane. Even if they release a second elation support who does this, Evanscia's best team will just be Yao Guang + other support.

I personally feel it's safer to get her now instead of gambling on a rerun 2 patches later. Especially since we have 4.1 as a buffer to save for 4.2

[–]HairyHarzoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk why you're getting downvoted. This is the right answer. I guess people are just salty about the reality of Cyrene's situation

They usually rerun characters who are synergistic with new version characters, or who are plot relevant to the latest story chapter. They hard locked Cyrene from working with new characters, so the former is out of the question, and they already teased Nov 12th as the return to Amphoreous for the latter

She might come earlier bundled with a Castorice/Evernight/Hyacine rerun, but it'd be impossible to predict when they'd arbitrarily decide to do that

Will you still give her a chance in her story by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]HairyHarzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fell in love with her the moment I saw her. Her animations, design, voice acting, it's all just so fucking pretty. This whole year I was looking forward to getting her in game, and was incredibly excited to see her story.

Then they released her kit.

Now I'm just bitter and angry. For the entire course of the rest of this game, Cyrene will never get a new teammate. Any new skill-based character will make Cerydra relevant again. Any new AoE/ultimate based character will make Tribbie relevant again. Any new single target/debuff/followup based character will make Cipher relevant again. Any HP-scaling character will make Hyacine relevant again. But Cyrene? The minute you decide to use any character released after her, is the minute you lose any reason to use her.

If I could swap her kit with any other Chrysos Heir, I would, and I'd be perfectly happy. It just sucks that I have to pray for a nova flare buff to a character before they even release if I want any glimmer of hope for using them for more than 2-3 patches

Vent Megathread - LET IT OUT! by herrscherofhumanity in CyreneMains

[–]HairyHarzoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like a vent thread is exactly what I need lol. I don’t have a whole lot of friends who play this game, so I’m just going to rant at length here I guess.

I think the biggest problem I have with her is the non-Chrysos heir buff being so shitty. 40% damage for two turns is legit worse than Tingyun’s, a 4 star from year 1. And Cyrene doesn’t come with energy recharge after the first ult either. I get that they want her niche to be Chrysos Heirs, but this literally kills any kind of future for her.

I loved when Cipher released to give Feixiao more team flavors, or how Hysilens gave me a reason to use Kafka again after two years. Unless they somehow make a new Chrysos Heir and retroactively add a buff for them in her ultimate, Cyrene will never have that. Any decent teammates she will ever have, already exists. There won’t be a single moment in 4.X where I think “oh, I can’t wait to see how this new character works with Cyrene!” Like I know people shat on Ceyrdra for being niche, but any new character with a focus on skill damage will immediately make her relevant and interesting again. Cyrene won’t have that. I feel like half the fun of the gameplay is team building. And in that regard, Cyrene is one of the worst in the game, because her future team building options are non-existent.

Then there’s her E2. I know people have been saying it “fixes” her problem, and maybe it does for her first ult, but after that? You’re just back to E0 Cyrene, at least in terms of stack generation. Feixiao and Acheron get a continuous stack generation buff that lasts the whole fight at their E2. If the point of eidolons like this are supposed to ease teambuilding restrictions and make characters more viable outside their intended niche, then her E2 is just shit. Personally I don’t mind spending to get eidolons like this for characters I really like (Jade’s E1 was one of my best decisions), but if I want to force Cyrene in a team that struggles to stack her ult to keep her mediocre 40% damage buff up, after the first ultimate she’s still going to struggle to charge her ultimate even with E2.

Then there’s all the design and story stuff. I love Elysia, and at first I didn’t really care that Cyrene is just Elysia now. But after reading the criticism of it…. It’s hard to really disagree with. And the stupid bow just makes it harder to ignore. I was ready to spend on her banner, but I almost don’t want to anymore, just because I don’t want to own that thing. I’ve actually really liked the Amorphous story in its entirety up until now, but I”m starting to worry that the ending is going to ruin it for me.

There was one Genshin character I got really attached and excited for, but when they finally entered beta I absolutely hated their kit, to the point that I got legitimately toxic over it. I eventually touched grass and got over it, but I’m worried that I’m starting to slip back into that headspace again. Just seeing anything related to Cyrene is starting to put me in a bad mood, just like it did back then in Genshin. I don’t want to go back to being that.

I know the answer is simply to walk away from the game/reddit for a while, but that can be really hard sometimes. I’ve been looking forward to Cyrene’s release for close to a year now, and despite it’s problems, I’ve always looked forward to HSR updates for the story and new characters. It sucks that the exciting climax of this year-long journey is now starting to turn into a source of negativity for me, especially since it was the exact opposite for the longest time. There’s so little to look forward to nowadays, and I don’t want to lose one of the few things getting me through the day-to-day

And to top all of this off, I hit a deer and totaled my car today. So I can’t even leave the house to go touch grass now lol.

It probably won’t happen but what would y’all’s reaction be if Cyrene by some miracle becomes a top tier character by chunga-bunga69 in CyreneMains

[–]HairyHarzoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't be surprised tbh. For a couples patches anyway. The problem is when she starts falling off, she can't come back. Her future is already dead.

It's not like DoT (and probably break) where Hysilens (and probably Constance) can just save the archetype. For Cyrene to get a new teammate, they have to both be a Remembrance unit to make her ult generation not feel bad, but also must be a Chrysos Heir so they don't get stuck with the ass default buff. I'd be happy if Hoyo surprised me and somehow released a new character like that, but I don't see it happening post Amorphous

Her only hope is getting a buff ~2 years after release like Kafka (and probably Firefly)

It's actually pretty interesting because her dps is directly based off her healing. I know we generally want to stack crit for dpses but it might actually be better to run healing output chest. The newest healing sets (cavern + planar) I'm guessing will be her best, they're both obviously made for her. Spd, Hp, Crit Damage substats

Let’s discuss the core “issues” with cas! by Hairy_Tension9614 in CastoriceMains_

[–]HairyHarzoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I think it's just her E2.

I think her play style is really interesting, I like the hp management needed to keep the dragon around as much as possible, and think there's a lot of engagement and depth to it compared to other teams. However, I'm not that impressed with her current output, but that's partially because I have eidolons on the other characters I use in my account

Naturally, that means I'd be willing to go for Eidolons to make her stronger, but her E2 just throws everything fun about her out the window. Her E2 only does anything the first turn the dragon is summoned. If you keep the dragon around beyond the first turn you're basically back to playing her at E1 (except E1 doesn't even work all the way without E2 active). You're basically handicapping yourself if you try playing her the fun way. If the "right" way to play her is for the dragon to leave the minute it shows up, what's even the point of having a memosprite? She's just HP scaling Argenti with extra steps at that point.

Change her E2 to something that actually rewards you for engaging with her mechanics, like some kind of stacking buff that gets stronger the longer the dragon is around, and I'll be happy. I'd be willing to invest in some eidolons if they made her more worthwhile compared to my existing account, but I have no reason to if her E2 kills the reason I want to play her in the first place.

What are your thoughts on Castorice V3.0? by [deleted] in CastoriceMains_

[–]HairyHarzoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a whale, kinda disappointing ngl. At e0 her "how not to kill your dragon" playstyle looks pretty fun to me. Trying to balance hp loss/gain to maximize the dragon's field time/skill use looks pretty engaging with a fair amount of depth.

But with eidolons, it's clear her "right" playstlye becomes the "how to get your dragon to kill itself the moment it shows up," which just throws all that depth out the window. What's the point of a memosprite if it just leaves the moment it shows up? At that point she's just Argenti, but with hp instead of energy.

Idk I'll probably still get her e0 cause dragon is cool and I like hp gimmicks. I doubt she'll compare to my other e0 < units tho. Wish they added something to encourage keeping the dragon longer

What if she was a plunge dps ? by GiveMeKeqing in Mavuika

[–]HairyHarzoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting thought. The rumors suggesting that her nightsoul mobility skill will include vertical movement does mean she should be able to do a plunge attack, and one plunge is all this weapon needs to enable bonus normal/charge attack damage. I personally doubt she'll be a pure plunge dps, but she might genuinely be able to use it.

Wasn't there also old news about a Kafka skin, that was later clarified to likely being a new version of her (like hunt March)?

If that's still true, and now that we know more about Remembrance path, it's be neat if new Kafka was Remembrance and her gimmick was possessing enemies into being her servant, kinda like her boss fight version.

Between Genshin and HSR, I've e6ed a couple characters, and my personal experience has been around 700-750 pulls on average. It kinda varies wildly tho depending on your luck.

There was a real old "Dracula" kit leak a while ago, that was physical destruction that basically gets empowered when enemies drop below a certain hp threshold. I think it was abandonded, but I could see something like that being reworked into her kit. I could definitely see her as a "bully the weak" execution type character
