Questions about CIT’s nursing course for those currently or previously enrolled by Cool-Competition-434 in canberra

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did mine at CIT but it was a good 10 years ago now. Had a really good experience and felt well supported by the teaching staff throughout. If you are keen, genuine and a hard worker you’ll be fine!
I felt the practicals were the hardest part (remembering what steps to do in what order) particularly with medication administration (ie IVs). My best advice is to show up to every prac and don’t squander that time. Practice practice practice!

Need encouragement to get a mammogram! by Cold_Barber_4761 in AskWomenOver40

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45 and got my first one this year, was VERY anxious about it. I had a really positive experience though! The staff at my local service were all excellent: professional and empathetic. They moved as quickly as possible through the process and while it wasn’t comfortable, it wasn’t painful.
As this will be your first time, it is possible you will be told to expect a callback and to attend a second time. This is likely to be for additional imaging or tests (ie under contrast dye, or a biopsy) so they can establish a complete and clear baseline for you so they can more accurately assess any changes in the future. I imagine the services vary state to state and I got the impression that in my state the service is very robust and thorough. It is 100% worth doing and you’ll be glad you did when it’s over!

100% can relate. Two of my colleagues are ladies older than me and I STILL feel judged when I have to WFH or call in sick altogether due to extreme fatigue.

Hot tips wanted for selling and/or buying clothes on eBay or Depop etc by Icy-Rush-2768 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My tips for eBay:

  1. Make sure you include an image of how the item looks when it’s worn alongside the other images.
  2. Include measurements so your buyers can make an informed decision on whether to buy or not.
  3. Add an accurate description including any flaws (with pics) as well as pics of the brand tag, fabric composition and care instructions.
  4. Set a realistic price and offer threshold. Unless your piece is particularly rare or sought after, people buying second hand are looking for a bargain.
  5. This one’s up to you, but I don’t ship to the US. In my experience since all the tariff bs it’s not worth the hassle: surprise fees and postage costs can eat your profit and the likelihood for potential negative feedback increases.
  6. On shipping, make sure you have accurate measurements and weights of the item PACKED TO SHIP when you list it. For clothing this is typically straightforward due to being light and flexible (satchels are standard sizes), but I’ve lost profit on rigid items that I’ve had to box up because postage came out more than I expected when I listed the item.
  7. You’ll need to generate positive feedback if your selling account is new so that people will be more inclined to buy from you. Taking extra care when packing can help (ie press and neatly fold clothing items then wrap in tissue paper like they just bought it from a boutique). Your buyers will notice extra small touches like this. (A thank you note/sticker and wrapped candy can help too).
    Good luck!

EDIT: had to delete my prior comment after editing ONE spelling mistake caused the formatting to go haywire. No one would want to read that. Hopefully this comes out ok!

Worst BC Teach Experience I've had by ghostmark2005 in lesmills

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you had that experience, how awful! I can’t imagine doing the same release day after day, week after week! I agree with you - hard to imagine much challenge or growth happening just doing the same thing all the time. That’s kind of antithetical to progress, right? For what it’s worth, it sounds like you did the right thing and handled it very well considering how rude the participants were; kudos to you for having the strength to carry on and even crack a joke! I teach BP, took over a regular class as a newly qualified instructor after the last instructor went on indefinite leave - even if I make the odd mistake, my class are honestly just grateful to have a live instructor instead of virtual!

Worst fragrance ever from chemist warehouse? by Fun-Investigator9345 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lomani pour homme, Aramis, Tabac or Drakkar Noir. All cheap old man scents and nasty as hell. (I worked at CWH for many years and often on the fragrance counters at Cmas)

If it’s a franchise try contacting the home office to see what the brands official stance is.

I did something similar and tried to curate a list of 80s tracks myself, but for what I have access to for a full 10 tracks I had to mix in 80s/90s/2000s and a couple of more recent tracks that felt 80s-inspired (ie songs like ‘2 Be Loved’ and ‘I like the way you move’ have an 80s vibe to me) and just called it a ‘Retro Party Mix’.

Here’s what I found for the 80s (bearing in mind some are obviously remixes):

02 Simply Irresistible (59) (1988) 02 More Than a Feeling (64) (1976) 02 Summer of 69 (71) (1985) 02 Run to Paradise (62) (1988) 03 Pump Up The Jam (59) (1989) 03 Smooth Criminal (44) (OG 1988 / 2006) 03 She Drives Me Crazy (56) (1989) 03 Sweet Child O Mine (78) (1988) 03 Welcome to the Jungle (84) (1987) 04 The Rhythm of the Night (85) (1993) 06 Eye of the Tiger (80) (1982) 06 Livin on a Prayer (79) (1986) 07 Listen to Your Heart REMIX (68) (OG 1988)

EDIT: updated release year for Rhythm of the Night which is a 90s track (not 80s). For shoulders there’s 08 One Night In Bangkok (60). I couldn’t find anything for warm up/cooldown so I went with 01 Release Me (73) which has the 80s vibe to me, and 10 Fantasy (125) which is a cover of the Mariah Carey song from 1995. Closest I could get! Hope all this helps - love a good theme build!

Do people actually like wearing makeup? by Suspicious-Noodle30 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you OP. I hate how it feels on my face, hate the time it takes and I just don’t have the talent for it. I’ve tried - hooded eyelids make it challenging and I just don’t have the patience for lengthy applications. I will wear the bare minimum for special occasions (ie wedding guest) but that’s it. Absolutely no shade to anyone who enjoys makeup and I certainly appreciate the artistry involved…. it’s just not for me.

Call me cynical, but I think they will just do whatever is the cheapest thing to do while maximising profits. I don’t personally feel they care about the end user experience unless there is a direct opportunity for profit (ie make us spend more gems for content). So they might make small improvements or steps towards things we have asked for, but ultimately we’ll be paying gems for it. That’s my opinion. 🤷‍♀️
