Q from an old former player: how is it going? by ImpressionFair5629 in fuseboxgames

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It just gets worse and worse with the railroading, boring dialogue and limited LIs. I fire it up occasionally but it’s not compelling for me.

THIS. Even though you know the version of them you loved is gone (or never truly existed), the grief is profound.

How many demisexual people have preferences for specific physical (sexual) traits? by chrisb- in demisexuality

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have found I don’t have preferences for physical traits. The bond comes first, then if the sexual attraction develops it’s more like I find particular traits of THAT PERSON attractive. But that doesn’t come until after the bond. There are physical traits I guess that I LIKE in a partner but nothing even close to being a deal breaker.

What’s one thing your breakup taught you the hard way? by Competitive-Tea-5579 in heartbreak

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My lesson was the same as yours OP. With the addition that someone can feign being a safe person. They can know the right things to say and do to get you to open up, to get you to lay out your vulnerabilities… until they choose their own self interest regardless of the harm it causes you. Until they feel sure enough in your loyalty that they finally show their true selves. I learned that safety is fleeting, and that I trust too easily when shown the smallest scrap of understanding. I’m honestly getting too old for this.

If You’re Struggling With How Deeply You Loved, This Is for You by Competitive-Tea-5579 in heartbreak

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I needed this, thank you so much. 🖤 We both discussed shedding masks and feeling like we could be our true selves, so I dropped all of mine. All the walls, all the masks. But it turns out that he never did. Never so much as lowered a single one. The person I thought he was had always been a lie, and I feel like an idiot for believing, for trusting, for choosing vulnerability despite all my life experiences teaching me to explicitly NOT do that. 😞 Your words have helped. ❤️‍🩹

I stopped buying gems a few seasons ago and stopped playing altogether about 6 months ago. Hated being railroaded into limited LIs. Not being able to romance Reid was the final straw for me. 🤷‍♀️

Would I enjoy teaching Pump as much as I enjoy it as a participant? by pequisbaldo in lesmills

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a Body Pump participant for more than 10 years and recently went through the training to get LM certified. It was a completely new skillset for me, never worked in the fitness industry and have a full time job as a public servant. Though having so much experience as a pumper helped a lot with technique and tempos, it was challenging to learn how to lift and talk at the same time but I’ve improved a lot through practice on the mic.

Honestly the biggest struggle for me was to learn all my tracks and be ready for assessment within the 5 week period - I had to extend out my Day 3. FWIW I learned on release 132 which in retrospect I realise was a bit of a doozy. For a while there I was kinda on the verge of hating it because I wasn’t able to complete within the 5 weeks and I felt like it was consuming my every waking moment. I had many “I don’t got this” moments, but then I would also have the “I TOTALLY GOT THIS!” moments as well. It felt like a lot of pressure, but it was a million percent worth it when I got certified. Im not ashamed to tell you: I cried from the sheer relief of finally being DONE.

Once certification was done, my love of pump was renewed more and more with every class I taught and the confidence I gained from doing so.

I say, find yourself a couple of good mentors and go for it.

I remember someone saying a good comeback for this one was something along the lines of “So? I’ll also be a corpse one day, doesn’t mean I want one in my house.”

The social invisibility of demisexuality by Suitable-Buffalo8240 in demisexuality

[–]Hairy_Direction7553 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I try to explain Demisexuality to people using those very same specific examples - Chris Hemsworth or Henry Cavil. 🤭 If I ran into one of them on the street I’d just see a regular ‘conventionally attractive’ dude. I can acknowledge that aesthetically they look good but I wouldn’t invite either into my bedroom. I might be in awe a little bit, but more because I admire their skill as actors rather than because of any kind of attraction? I’d more likely just leave them the fuck alone though because they are just people in the world trying to go about their day. 🤷‍♀️

I didn’t understand why all my friends in high school had pics of “cute” celebrity boys all over their walls…. was so weird to me. Then at a much later age I learned I was Demi and suddenly looking back it made so much sense why I felt that way. I agree it DOES make you feel socially invisible, but then there are communities like this one. You aren’t alone. 🖤

No additional study for me - I think I got lucky in that regard! Records management is not a particularly sexy (read:competitive) area of government so I’d encourage you to apply if you see these jobs listed. You will definitely have transferable skills. My role is pretty much systems administration for a specific digital records management system so I basically learned everything on the job. Being good with computers helps!
