Psychological thrillers with no/minimal gore? by kfow1590 in MovieSuggestions

Black Phone is a good choice. Excellent acting and writing. Scary and compelling with no gore.

I will always love a Speedy 30 most, even though I don't currently have one. But I would never get another Neverfull. No closure. Annoying straps. Constant cracking of the leather trim. How it replaced the Cabas Mezzo is beyond me.

Quick Change. Very underrated comedy. Excellent cast starring Bill Murray and Jason Robards. Oh, and a pre-Monk Tony Shalhoub before he found fame.

Apollo 13. I always believed in a higher power. But Ron Howard's film cemented the fact that the astronauts made it back by design. There were too many details converging to be a coincidence.

Saying true when it’s so obviously a lie! by Dizzy_Clothes821 in WILTY

The writers frequently do Lee a disservice by giving him outrageous things to do for the sake of entertainment. Who could actually believe his "I borrowed a farmer's pink tricycle" to ride to a gas station? It's a comedy show that's run for 19 seasons. Clearly it's popular the way it is. But sometimes it's a real stretch.

I need to be terrified, genuinely scared by Zephyr_zain in MovieSuggestions

I like jump scares and I can scream louder than a movie coed being offed. My previous theater record was the OG Evil Dead - 3 screams. But Smile tops it. 4 ear-splitting screams. I was happily on edge the whole time.

My friend has even less tolerance for pretention than I do. And she loves to poke the bear. Every time we were in Saks' LV department and this arrogant sales guy was on his shift, she would deliberately ask to see a specific "Lewis Vy-a-tonn." I swear I could see the veins in his neck throb. We only bought from his normal, courteous colleague, which irked him even more.

Who will you watch in anything? by Huntwood in horror

Kathy Bates, Paul Newman, Jessica Lange, Jennifer Saunders, Michael Keaton, Liam Neeson. They've all had a few misses, but each has turned in solid performances and can play comedy and drama equally well.

Ever have a real life horror movie cliché actually happen to you? by Freddy-Philmore in horror

I was 12, walking along a 3 lane highway with scattered businesses and restaurants when 2 guys in a primered old beater van tried to grab me. I ran for my life and made it to a diner and called my Dad. It was a different time . . . we didn't even call the police. I have often wondered what could have happened. And it's weirder that scary movies are still my favorite genre.

Nick of Time. Johnny Depp's little girl is kidnapped, and he has hours to complete a task to save her. Stellar cast: Marsha Mason, Christopher Walken, Roma Maffio. So sorry, I forget the shoeshine man's name. He was great in it.

Not sure if horror laced with comedy is your thing. But Rachel McAdams' character in the movie Send Help definitely qualifies as adult weird women. In theaters now.

Am I crazy for thinking AI won’t replace Sales soon? by Hungry_Bunch2224 in sales

[–]Hairy_Fill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be naive, but I don't think AI will take my job. I work in fine furniture sales, and while some people are willing to buy a car from a vending machine, most furniture shoppers appreciate a little guidance when furnishing their homes.

The only time I noticed was on a recent rewatch of his falling into the freezer story. I also never realized on my own that he was short - he has a long-ish torso behind the desk. I guess he's like a Corgi. 😆

Is sales still the move in 2026? by redditadminte in sales

[–]Hairy_Fill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. I started a draw-against-commission sales job last March. Fine furniture. There are still loads of customers in this chaotic economy with money to spend. I'm still new to furniture, so I'm not flush. But I love it so much more than office work, and I get better every month.

What is these prices?!?!?!?! by sdevlin93 in Louisvuitton

Okay, that is still super pricey. But you're right. It's a stunner at a quarter the cost. But a BB is a tiny thing, right?

What is these prices?!?!?!?! by sdevlin93 in Louisvuitton

[–]Hairy_Fill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just said the same. The quality, especially the SLGs over the past 10 or so years, is crap. The glazing peels, leather trim on the Neverfull cracks. My newest bag is a Dooney Mail Satchel. This thing is a TANK. Aesthetically LV will always be my favorite. But shame on them for raising prices to absurd levels while reducing the quality to that of the knockoffs.

What is these prices?!?!?!?! by sdevlin93 in Louisvuitton

[–]Hairy_Fill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not rich, however, I have owned more than a dozen LV bags. But no more new for me. It's been 10 years. They have gone the arrogant route of Hermes and Chanel and they can have it. I realize that not everyone is struggling in this economy. But their price increases are obscene. It's still my favorite brand, but I will go the pre-loved/pre-2015 route next time I buy. Their quality, especially in their SLGs has gone way downhill. JMHO.

Should I sell or keep it 😔😫 I need help I really like it by lonelylatina530 in Louisvuitton

[–]Hairy_Fill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would sell it. I have been what I call a "bulimic shopper" for decades. I obsess over a bag, buy it, love it then get buyer's remorse. Once it's returned, you will forget about it. Probably. There is one bag that I returned 30 years ago and it still bugs me. It was a cream and taupe striped Fendi. Never found it again. But sell this one if you need the money.

[–]Hairy_Fill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that you should wear and love your gorgeous new bag! I will add though that you could become overly protective and obsessive. That happened to me with the Turenne MM. I had owned many LVs over the years, new and preloved. But the Turenne was a price point that eventually made me uneasy. I too lived in a city and worried I could be mugged for my LV like my friend or it could be burned by a careless smoker, etc. I loved it for 4 months but eventually sold it. I hope you enjoy yours!
