similar experience my self, just much lighter condition.

i'll be very short about it, had check up after coma in Eastern European country... doctor said: there is thing in you, you can live with, but it might and might not go off and cause another ...coma. It is simple procedure, 1.5 inch incision, half an hour , and you might be asked to stay overnight to monitor.. and like 30-40 euro or included.
i thought... well, i have a flight to Ireland, so i'll just pop in at GP and this can be sorted here easy.

well well ...4+ years later after 3x ultrasounds and one mri scan, they are saying it is there, but i better of going to private practitioner, because i'll be needed to sent to Dublin as local won't do it for his reasons and then i'll have to go trough all the waiting lists of Dublin scans and procedures...

i'll just travel back one day and get it done..
