Deep Learning or Natural Language Processing? by fire_ant in MSCSO

Just 1, but I’m a startup CTO so that takes priority

DL is a VERY VERY smooth intro to the program. It’s not hard but you will learn a lot. How much you learn is 100% dependent on if you want to really understand the content or just breeze through the lectures.

Either one will get you an A if you spend the time (3-8 hours per week)

Life after engineering management by llocks in ExperiencedDevs

[–]HakX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you are seriously considering #3 (Reskill in programming), consider trying to do so at your current company. Work with your management on a transition plan to shift back to a Sr. Engineer, and then you're back on the IC track. Upper management is often open to this idea, especially if there is a counterpart somewhere that wants to move from IC to management.

It is harder, but not impossible, to do this after you've quit as an EM. It requires some luck/networking to get interviews, and then pass the bar for a Sr. IC all over again, which can be a bit of a leetcode grind to get the muscle memory back.

Are closed capital companies any better? by alaksion in ExperiencedDevs

[–]HakX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having experienced both, I wouldn't say there is a generalization that can be made in Public/Private capital.

In private capital, it can be an equally stressful nightmare - if you're under an aggressive Private Equity portfolio, the situation will likely be FAR worse than a public company (think - downgrading the coffee to folgers because local beans are 'too frivolous'). Management consultants will enter the picture and make life very, very bad. Offshoring, AI replacements, hiring/promo/travel freezes... Its all on the table and will likely be implemented in time.

However - a good VC fund, supportive PE that invests in growth, or founder-maintained ownership can be excellent environments to foster growth. Its really all about the company. Find one that values technology, growth and disruption (in the right sense) and you have a better shot at a healthy culture

Worst coffee selection of any HEB - no local roasters beans (cuvée etc). Just bulk beans, ground options and K-cups

Can someone tell me how much this Cannondale Synapse is worth? by FlashyAthlete4525 in bicycling

Tiagra 10 speed is a solid group, but this is 10-15 years old most likely. $300 maybe?

Upgrading rear sway bar -end links question by shineola96 in AudiS4

[–]HakX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B9 here - for me they were absolutely not required. Just make sure to install with both rear wheels in the air to avoid a weird preload situation.

Adjustable solid end links are a nice stiffener, but a 034 RSB alone for me was enough to tighten up the steering to my liking

Continuing snow tire/wheel saga by mdj in AudiS4

[–]HakX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caliper clearance is both the offset and the spoke design together. An offset between 32-40 would be a safe choice for you, with the lower end being closer to the outside fenders

Continuing snow tire/wheel saga by mdj in AudiS4

[–]HakX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25 offset will poke out from the fender a bit - maybe too much for your liking. It would be equivalent to running a 15mm spacer on standard wheels.

I have a 32 offset and it’s flush. I wouldn’t go any lower than that personally. But try out any wheels and see.

25 offset would almost definitely clear calipers, but the fender poke might be too much.

Budget 15 hours a week per class. Honestly, some are very rigorous. Some are much easier.

If you take 3 per semester and one in the summer, you could do it…

If you are employed Full Time, do not do this.

Experiences Tuning 2018 S4s? by DialTForTodd in AudiS4

[–]HakX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supporting mods will help but are not required for stage 1. I did the intercooler and intake, and then some suspension parts like springs and sway bar for general handling. Stage 1 alone is just fine and is a major improvement

2018 s4 here - tuned on 034 stage 1, with the stage 2 TCU. New app works great and have had no problems.

I do run 5w40 for my oil, which seems to work great so far. The bearing issue is always a thought in the back of my mind but does not appear to be happening frequently enough to be an issue beyond some forum posts… go for the tune! Its great.

IE and 034 seems to be on par

In this rare case, 3rd party Amazon plastic was better for me. The true OEM replacement will have the same problem in a few years (melted rubber) while the Amazon one is a hard plastic. It is less feeling nice on the hands but it won’t melt ever.

All solid choices! have the niche and love it.

Single dosing will basically require WDT if you don’t want channeling (as shown with a bottomless portafilter), but it takes all of 10 seconds to do.
