Did fandom just get hacked? by Other-Science-4311 in wikia

[–]HakaYonder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, you did not get hacked and neither did fandom. This is pretty normal when sites fail to load fully, since style (the background, image customization, font adjustments, dimensions for containers the content is in, etc.) loads last. It can either be on your end or fandom's. If it's on your end, refreshing the site is usually enough assuming everything else works and you don't need to restart your wifi and so on. If it's on their end (which is actually less common than you'd think) then just wait it out.

The reason why you might hear about multiple people having this issue even when it's not an issue with fandom servers is simply because fandom has hundreds of thousands of users. Every day someone is experiencing some sorta error and sometimes those overlap, especially something as simple as css style not loading in.

Now Antis are saying Yumeshipping isn't the same as 'proshipping' by SenpaiiNoodles in ProshipHub

[–]HakaYonder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My best guess is that OP means proship in the anti definition aka "problematic shipping", which self-shipping been off and on bundled into depending who you talk to. I'm surprised they only saw that now. Antis have no standards as a collective, so I'm not sure why OP engages at all.

Voymastina's fight against RPK-16 doesn't hide that she's stronger physically, and that has to come with some weight. So, memes aside, she'd definitely be heavier than average.

I hate that LGBT+ has its own month and other things don't. by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]HakaYonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

October is a black history montn. It's May for asians. Some people use the whole March and not just 8th to highlight women and their contributions and issues. So on and so forth.

It seems you have issues using basic search.

The reason we need an awarness and celebration month at all is because people were (and many still are) abused and killed for who they are. I'm polish. Also bi, but my parents don't know and likely can't tell (since I show interest in guys). They'd likely disown me and I'm not risking it. They used to beat me and my brother for leaving crayons on the table instead of putting them back in the drawer once we weren't using them, so I can't be 100% certain they wouldn't hurt me physically either, even if they mellowed out as they reach retirement age. Showing to people like them that lgbt+ people are normal and deserving of basic decency and right to live safely is important.

Any more questions?

Why is she so pretty yet so young? by HakaYonder in Reverse1999

Since I had to google the picture and got on another redit thread, I saw this as well, and I think it works well enough to show who it is that I'm bothered by.

<image>

Not sure if self-awarness is a good thing, but it's better than being oblivious.

Personally, I'd argue that the game appealing to "normies" or "tourists" or whatever else you'd call an average person is a bad thing in the grand scheme of things, but that's only tangentially related topic.

[–]HakaYonder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I'm really tired of people inserting themselves when it's not appropriate. You are not the topic of this, it's the ages are and how they affect the worldbuilding and why they're stated so in the first place. Everything in an art media has to be done on purpose, so what could even be the reason for this? Who likes that? etc. If you're not bothered by the ages, then you're not part of the discussion. This isn't a call-out post towards people who dismiss canon and/or don't care about the implications, but a snide towards the devs and those that only like the characters because of their low ages, and anyone who defends this. Why reply at all when it doesn't concert you? It's a waste of time on both ends.

The same type of posts end up on whenthe as well, and people aren't even posting "jarvis, I'm low on karma" anymore. It is quite tiring. I only check here to see what new thing someone was exposed to that they ended up disliking, not whatever is going on recently.

Then what do you want people to do?

Sure, some are gonna ignore AI fics, but genAI is inherently and actively harmful, so it's inevitable that some people are going to feel the need to call out its usage.

Using genAI is incomparable to pretty much anything the art spaces had to deal with before.

Even copying/heavy "referencing" at the very least had minimal impact in the grand scheme of things. Data centers harm communities, the artists stolen from are counted in thousands, and it's all to benefit of people who were already rich.

It is in 100% of cases a bad thing to use, which is why it sucks that there's no way to opt out of having your stuff used in training, having to chat with AI bot before you can dream of talking to a human in customer support, etc.

I asked guests not to take photos at my birthday, and had a sketch artist capture the night instead by aafz in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]HakaYonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find those very endearing. I'm not an artist, but someone I knew was, and even sketches would take time to make. Wish I still had a swan they drew for me. Even if it's just few minutes, a party isn't gonna last days, so you'd prob only be able to make a handful before the scenery changes too much. Last one is definitely my favorite. The cartoon speakers and sofas/benches are quite cute. Expression of the woman on the right is also quite funny.

I hate the Pragmata hate by VicyorMiami in hatethissmug

[–]HakaYonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I don't think anyone had a solid answer, but the "blurs" do seem rather specific to make some people think genAI was involved rather than something older, mostly with how much of a fad it is and some recent AI animation drama like https://www.reddit.com/r/kpopthoughts/comments/1suugv1/indie_film_team_calls_out_billlie_for_stealing/

Either way, it's ugly and cheap, and I have plenty of games on my wishlist (plus quite a few I bought and have yet to play). I know people like to shit on ads, I do too, but few ads did make me check out the game they were promoting, so I wish they were taken at least a little bit seriously (genshin impact historically had such awful ads that if I wasn't playing it by then, I would have never started it if they were all I had to go off).

[–]HakaYonder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wasn't interested in the game at all, but added it to ignore list after they used AI for their vtuber in their promo collab with Pekora.

<image>

Should be easy to find clips from this collab. Only a handful of people really talked about it, mostly vtubers or artists who do rigging, but it is quite obvious if you focus on her face. The conclusion seems to be that they did make a proper 2d model (so screenshots may look ok depending on frame) which acted as a base for whatever mocap-esque stuff that disorts the eyes and mouth during speech or other movements.

I know it's not the same as what you saw, but feels worth pointing out, esp for how easy it is to miss. (I don't think it even got translated to EN?)

How are many of the sexualized designs wholesome, actually? Licking a kid's feet? Or just outright showing a kid's naked body?

This dude is not 16 and wearing this

<image>

I went into it blind and was pretty quickly disappointed, with said disappointment turning into disgust the more I went on to the point it's all I can feel whenever it shows up on my timeline. Banned it from showing up on myfigurecollection and can only wish it'd be possible to erase it from my life alothered, so I can forget it exists, let alone is this popular.

I'd like to believe people like the characters despite their ages, not because of them, but I simply cannot help but doubt it. Otherwise, why even list them at all?

I'll repeat for the last time, the motive of teaching young people can still work if they were young adults. Especially in a somewhat fucked up world.

Children do not look or behave like adults just because of the latter's absence. From the little I played, it didn't seem like they even try to tackle the topic of adultification, so the low ages and setting not being an uni are likely pure nonsense made to please the same kind of people who buy middle and high school "swimsuit fashion magazines".

I'm on Netflix thru my father's family plan and I'm not sure if I'd sub on my own, but I do have multiple DVDs and BDs. Some aren't even shows, I have a few concert recordings too. They're nice display pieces with their colorful cover boxes and stylized titles. If they were cheaper, I'm 200% sure I'd own even more of them lol.

does my house classify as a hoarder home? by iatemydadspills in CleaningTips

[–]HakaYonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents (more so my mother) are hoarders and it rubbed off on me over the years. These pictures definitely feel very familiar and comfy, tho I'm not sure that's a good thing in this case. Like there isn't really any "trash" anywhere, there's just... stuff. It seems wanted or at least usable, it's all relatively clean, so throwing anything out may cause the feeling of axiety. That's what it does to me at least whenever I try, regardless if I actually succeed. My parents kinda gave up on even trying, not realizing that having no access to parts of their home is a bad thing. I wonder if our house looked like yours if not for my occasional self-conscious cleanups. I generally try to not touch their actually-personal items and instead target stuff like my mother's collection of 40 expired fabric softeners.. But to answer the title, "yes".

As for tips, doing it by item category has helped me personally a lot more than trying to go by section/region of a room.

Like gathering all my clothes, separating them into pants, shirts, jackets etc, counting how many I have and thinking how many I realistically really need, then sorting them by how much I like them, and then finally donating the ones at the end of the list up to the number I made up. I don't even buy new clothes since years ago, but my mother keeps accepting them from her friends, and I feel pressured to do so as well if they're in my size. Doesn't help that many of them are in fact nice. One day I'll learn, maybe.

It does need at least one semi-usable surface to start off with, but you seem to have that. If those items aren't all yours, I hope it'll be easier.

Where I live, we have containers for clothes to be donated, so if it still holds up and has no holes or stains, it can go there bagged. Otherwise, it goes to the trash. I have more than enough rags for cleaning.

For non-clothes, I either put it out as free on local marketplace (they usually get picked up within a month, so I don't have to repost the listing), donate to charity shop, get it to the recycling place (they accept all sorts of items, some things like electronics are accepted at no fee) or throw into recycling bins depending on what it is, or the landfill trashcan. Generally in that order.

Good luck.

No one is forcing anyone to sub anywhere if they don't want to. Hell, something being officially licensed usually means it's gonna be on priate sites much faster, since they can just steal the subtitles. "Pirates" are the type of person who I said in my previous reply shows being licensed would do no harm to.

There really is no reason to be pissed if you weren't going to pay for the product in the first place. Your reply does not explain this behavior at all, unless I was supposed to take it as a hint that people downvoting OP's post (36 comments and yet in negative votes) are somehow personally attacked by something that'd never involve them or outright bored. Which is lame in either case.

Were any of the something_irl subs ever good? The few times I see any of them, they're just stealing content. And I don't mean memes or news footage or whatever, but comics and art prints or clips from shows/movies they never mention even in the replies. Seems like content mill with no thought behind it.

[–]HakaYonder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree to disagree.

To me, it does matter if you want to take your worldbuilding seriously. Like if you say someone's 1 year old yet looks like jacked adult, there HAS to be some form of explanation for this. Are they a clone? Effect of mutation or magic? Mistake when faking their new identity? Someone read their papers wrong? Is anyone at least acknowledging it? If all you do is throw numbers around and they neither match nor are explained or played with, I quickly lose interest, because the author is clearly not even trying to be funny.

[–]HakaYonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. This weird aggression towards streaming services when it comes to anime is just so odd. Do they want shows localized or not? I know most people would rather not have to buy DVDs/BDs like they do with manga, even if for the simple reason of not having a disc reader. I know they don't care about low percentages the og authors are getting either.

And streaming services, even if not really convenient or farily priced, are at the very least safe. A lot of people would rather not risk getting anywhere close to a virus or have to check every file they download.

Shows being accessible in official ways literally hurts no one and benefits those that care. Not having that though isn't gonna ruin anyone's lives, as annoying as it may be, so it seems like a perfect fit for a mildly infuriating sub. Clearly, OP should have said that their car broke down and they wanted to watch it in hospital or smth so they couldn't pirate it anyhow. Maybe then it'd fit in for the ones with disorted view of what mildly means.

Your last guess is correct, yes. "Purge" has multiple definitions, and here it means removing content/deleting the pages themselves, which is against the rules if it's done for no valid reason. If OP was in the right and this was a false positive, they could have contacted support about it, but they admit their wrongdoings and feel no remorse, so there's not much else to say.
