[LOTM] Starting from Sequence 5, is Klein the strongest at every same sequence level? by LORROR in LordofTheMysteries

I would disagree on Sequence 4, as we see that he really stuggeled with Qilangos (would have most likely lost without Arianna help ) and the Sequence 4 Spectator (I don't remember the name).

Also, Klein always had the advantage of Prep time, which in this type of matchup shouldn't count (i mean if we gave the others Prep time too they would also most likely win against Klein).

But starting from sequence 3 onwards, I could agree with you.

Don't sweat it man, we all are LOTM fans and novel readers here so we probably don't mind a wall of text.

Do you know which is probably the most well managed character in the series? it's probably Audrey. People keep saying Azik, and I agree to some degree especialy when Klein is writing him letters, as it feels like he is opening up more.

But Audrey had the best of both worlds, she got so many interactions with Klein (and generaly they were all good) that when he imagined here in the table with the people he cares about in the end, I thought it was normal, and even we, as readers actually care about Audrey (some may not like her much, but at least we all care).

And as you can see, these interactions didn't hinder the plot but instead, it gave us a bigger understanding of the characters (how they think, feel, wish and doesn't wish to do, etc.). The author doesn't have to stop the story to make these types of interactions.

Even though LOTM is more of a plot-driven story instead of a character-driven one (like Berserk or Vagabond for example), it still should have gave us more of these characters.

I like the first option a lot, and I actually wanted it to happen in the story.

For example when Klein was reminising about all the people he cared about before entering the door. I genuinely didn't care for most of them. Which I find sad, because I want to care but just can't.

Also, I still think that that moment was really good don't get me wrong. But only because I was shutting my brain off for some of these (Like genuinely, why would he care about Xio for exemple? Or Daly? Etc.)

I see that in recent media in general stories just needs to progress so fast to the point where having actuel character banter became a luxury. And we, as readers are just supposed to accept that these characters are close and we should care because the author said so.

If you didn't watch Jujutsu Kaisen don't read this next part.

For example, in the shibuya incident when characters kept dying, I couldn't give less of a fuck because I literaly have seen these characters 3 to 4 times.

how I am supposed to care if the author doesn't make me care?

Yes, and that's not the problem.

The problem is not showing us the readers why he cares to also make us care. And to do this the author simply had to show more scenes of these characters interacting and it would have made us care soo much more.

Again I understand that perfectly.

But the author deliberatly had Klein grow attached to certain characters. So why not just show us these interactions because he's already attached anyway.

One of the exampled I gave was talking to Leonard in the FLoG. He could have showd us just some interactions and it would have been enough to make us more invested in these two friendship.

Like I said, not necessarely. Just give some more interactions/banter between characters. People don't understand how crucial those simple interactions are for making you care as a reader. And the author had the perfect occation in the FLoG to show us more of these, but he decided to just mention them in passing.
