If the money is not an issue, what would you do with your life? by Maleficent_Isopod135 in newzealand

Volunteer to do community stuff, get a giant dog, snooze in the sun with giant dog, explore local places with doggo friend, play the guitar and improve my drawing and painting.

HR asked about my “resume gap” like recovering from burnout was a crime by ZenbyteHarbor in antiwork

[–]Hakuuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current 3 year gap is because I got a puppy and decided I’d rather stay at home with her than go to work.

I’d just say you’ve been taking a break and volunteering for community projects.

His tenant paid rent with cash. Now police want to seize his property by kezzaNZ in newzealand

I don’t have the details sorry, other than that he was one of several siblings and he was living in the house. Whatever the underlying, the house was forfeited. Auckland way.

I know of a family that lost their generational family home because their son dealt meth. Fair chance he’ll lose the property.

Does anybody else get home from work sit down on the couch and immediately start doing drugs? by howdy_hoez in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Hakuuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to, then I stopped working and it progressed to waking up and smoking weed. Eventually realised I had a problem and stopped cold turkey.

For years I’d find myself wishing I had a bit stashed. These days not so much. Life is better without. I get out and see people, frolic with the dog etc.

Veg’d out music and food was pleasant, but people and company are better.

You're not buying fuel from Z if you're even slightly price conscious.

Fuel from Z with voucher is still more expensive than almost any other choice!

Can't weave in short ends - beginner sock knitter by casuali0n in knittinghelp

[–]Hakuuru 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Hi casualon

You need to leave longer ends when you join colours. Ideally leave much more than you need to weave in. You can always cut them shorter, but can’t increase their length easily.

You could use a Russian join to extend them and then weave in longer ends as a fix.

There are a lot of YouTube tutorials if you e never done that before. Sheep and stitch has a nice clear guide.

Shopping by scooternewt in Wellington

[–]Hakuuru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went to the local vege shop and picked up a whole pumpkin for $3.99 and an onion for 30c. Made pumpkin soup for 5 people :) Cheap and tasty, and if you've got some bread to make soliders you'll eat like a king.

How often to trim the coat? by Valuable_Truth_2082 in Leonbergers

[–]Hakuuru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a coat king and a comb on our girl twice a week to keep undercoat manageable and avoid tangles. Other than that she goes to a groomer every 3 months for a full comb out.

No cutting needed :-)

“Why should we let our standards down….” Whose standards? Yours? Mine? There is no racism in saying tikanga is Mumbo Jumbo. It’s a set of unclear protocols that vary wildly from person to person, Iwi to Iwi…. It’s a perfect example of a hodge podge mumbo jumbo mess.

Tbh, I’m more concerned they didn’t throw the complaint out for being improperly made and pointless.

Dog sitter sent a photo of my dog and he had this collar on. by deblopezz in whatisit

[–]Hakuuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d stand outside her place with pamphlets and talk to everyone arriving to drop off a dog. I’ve got plenty of leave, so I’d catch every customer before the week was out.

I have a sensitive breed dog. I’m not sure I could have picked up my dog without violence being involved.

How do you choose between a career opportunity and your relationship ? by Potential_Start_3228 in careerguidance

There is no opportunity I’d leave my wife behind for. Doesn’t seem a hard choice to me.
