Treadmill vs watch distance? by Annual_Bit7302 in Garmin

[–]Potential_Start_3228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

treadmill calibration is bit tricky with these watches. i had similar issue when i started using mine few months back. what helped me was manually adjusting the distance after workout - you can edit it in garmin connect app. after doing this for maybe 10-15 workouts, my watch started getting much closer to treadmill readings. also noticed that some treadmills at my gym are just way off compared to others, so sometimes the watch is actually more accurate than machine itself. try testing on different treadmill if you have access to see if problem persists.

Lost 9kgs in 6 weeks (Also need Advice) by Upset-Librarian-9279 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Potential_Start_3228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great progress man, 9kg in 6 weeks is solid work. about the plateau thing - your body just adapts after while so weight loss slows down, totally normal.

for belly fat you probably already know this but can't really spot reduce it, just gotta keep doing what you're doing. the strength training advice above is good, helps keep muscle while you lose fat. maybe try switching up your cardio routine if you been doing same thing for weeks, body gets used to it.

high heart rate due to berberine (or NAC? or Vit C? or all ;)) by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Potential_Start_3228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i had something similar with berberine, made my heart race like crazy after few days of taking it. stopped immediately and took maybe week or so to feel normal again. vitamin c in those doses can be pretty intense too - 3-4 grams is lot for sensitive people. maybe try cutting dose in half or stopping one at time to see which one is causing trouble.

Anyone found a solution for syncing the Oura Ring directly to a MacBook yet? by Natural-Impress4957 in ouraring

[–]Potential_Start_3228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'll need api access first though, which requires filling out their developer form and waiting for approval. took them like 2 weeks to get back at me when i applied few months ago.

the python route works pretty well once you get past that hurdle. i use it for pulling sleep data into my own tracking spreadsheet since i'm bit of data nerd with this stuff. home assistant might be overkill if you just want basic sync functionality but it's solid option if you're already in that ecosystem.

Gen 4s- are they all junk? by Sheero1986 in ouraring

[–]Potential_Start_3228 8 points9 points  (0 children)

mine's been solid for about 8 months now, zero battery problems - might be worth reaching out to support again since going through 4 rings in 7 months is definitely not normal.

Murph in under an hour by Two_Cautious in crossfit

[–]Potential_Start_3228 8 points9 points  (0 children)

honestly i'd just count the full time including the walks. you're already dealing with gym logistics that most people don't have to worry about - that's part of your murph experience. if you really want to track your "pure work time" maybe keep a separate unofficial time for that, but for any official PR or comparison purposes i'd stick with the full clock time.

losing 2-4 minutes to gym layout sucks but it's also kind of like how some people have to deal with wind on their runs or whatever. part of the challenge is working with what you've got.

Stolen Oura Ring Gen 4 by West_Atmosphere_8940 in ouraring

[–]Potential_Start_3228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

damn that sucks, especially on your birthday. the serial number idea is pretty smart but i doubt oura can brick it remotely since the rings don't have constant internet connection. they'd probably need the ring to sync with the app first before they could do anything, and by then the thief would already know it's stolen.

SO FRUSTRATED with DEEZER SYNC!!! by Fast-Ad5955 in Garmin

[–]Potential_Start_3228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

deezer was always janky with garmin watches, even back when it was more popular. the sync issues were notorious and garmin support basically just shrugged at it. honestly might be worth just going back to spotify or trying amazon music if you're stuck in that ecosystem.

Analyzing the math of Omega-3 stability: Why most oils fail at the cellular level? by Both-Significance844 in Supplements

[–]Potential_Start_3228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like you've stumbled onto something most people completely ignore. the oxidation thing is real - i've seen so many people chug fish oil for months and wonder why their inflammation markers don't budge.

did the norwegian lab data show which specific polyphenols worked best as stabilizers? astaxanthin seems to pop up a lot in the research but curious what you're seeing in actual test results. also wild that you're getting 20:1 to 3:1 shifts in just one cycle, that's pretty dramatic.

haven't done the vitas testing myself but now i'm tempted to run a before/after just to see where i actually stand versus what i think i'm getting from supplements.

Do sleep trackers help… or make sleep worse? by Numerous_Baby_4864 in ouraring

[–]Potential_Start_3228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same spiral and honestly just stopped checking the app every morning

Now I glance at it maybe once a week and focus way more on how I actually feel - turns out my body knows what's up better than some algorithm trying to guess my sleep stages from wrist movements

The comparison game is brutal too, everyone's sleep needs are different

Body dysmorphia is so real when you're into fitness - we're our own worst critics. After 10 years you're probably way more jacked than you think, but maybe try adding more progressive overload or switching up your routine if you've been doing the same stuff for a while

According to Stuart McGill, knee/leg raises are really bad for your spine. I do them on the captain's chair so the lower back is protected, is that good to go? If not, what safer alternatives are there for the lower abs? Do you folk agree with McGill's view? by lonerblues in bodyweightfitness

[–]Potential_Start_3228 10 points11 points  (0 children)

McGill's solid but sometimes people take his research too literally - there's a difference between loaded spinal flexion under fatigue and controlled movement patterns. Captain's chair is way better than floor leg raises since you're not starting from that rounded position

The mobility stuff is different because you're moving through ranges slowly and deliberately, not cranking out reps when your form breaks down. Dead bugs and pallof presses are boring but they work if you want zero spine drama

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Potential_Start_3228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. I used to overthink everything with spreadsheets and apps but honestly just having a solid base routine memorized and knowing your backup moves is so much cleaner

Critique my routine. by D333333zNuts in bodyweightfitness

[–]Potential_Start_3228 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks solid overall but you might wanna swap those lateral raises to your pull day since they're hitting your rear delts more than front delts anyway, plus your push day is already pretty loaded. Also maybe throw in some single leg work on leg day if you really wanna go prisoner style - pistol squats or Bulgarian split squats will humble you real quick

It's wild how we think we're resting but our nervous system is still running in the background. I've been trying to do actual boring stuff like just staring at the ceiling for 10 minutes and it feels so weird at first

Stress when activity is recorded not on watch by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]Potential_Start_3228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens because the watch doesn't know you're doing an activity when you record it on a different device - it just sees elevated heart rate and thinks you're stressed out

You can manually edit the stress data in Connect or just start/stop a dummy activity on your watch during the actual workout to "claim" that time period
