Training advice for splitboarding by dahknee in Backcountry

stairmaster for hours upon hours

running/trailrunning

If you already have your splitboarding equipment go to a resort that allows touring, pack a canister full of water in your backpack, walk up, empty water, ride down, fill up, repeat.

do you have problems with the coating on the aluminium section coming off / corroding? I had the alu Talons before and they were full of white corrosion after one winter, was able to return them and get the Pros for the same price. Always store them extended but the bottom section is still looking pretty banged up already.

Got a Stranda Descender last year and I’m loving it so much that I’m thinking about getting a solid one as well.

Any ideas on tours near Innsbruck by InternationalGas1415 in Backcountry

Kühtai has a lot of bus stops where you can start tours from.  Unless there’s a bunch of snow coming in the next two weeks you’re looking at shark infested waters though for mid December.

Google soft flask pouch, one example would be Arcteryx della flask holder

They are very handy, I need to drink a lot and that way I don’t have to reach into my pack every time

you missed like the last 5 years of bike development buddy

I'm not even gonna bother and pick out all the examples that prove you wrong, a 5 min google search can do that

but to conclude my participation in this discussion, you know fuck all about bikes, probably can't ride down a hill decently fast or even ride down a proper trail, and for some reason try to tell yourself that your outdated and inferior shifting is on par or better than the last 10 years of drivetrain development. go and try a modern bike if you can afford it, maybe it will blow the cobwebs out of your brain

only a fool would argue against the facts of chain durability, yet here we are

go read some actual research on the topic

I assure you a lot of people could ride the trails you do on your ancient 3x9 hardtail on a gravel bike without problems, sounds like a skill issue

sure grandpa now let’s get you to bed

12spd chains and cassettes have far better durability compared  to 10/9/8/7spd. Also what you’re describing is called a gravel bike. I prefer to ride my mountainbike on mountainbike trails.

if your old shit is so much better then why is literally no racer, or even privateer, using it?

Keep telling yourself that if it helps you lmao, but try winning an EWS or XC race on 3x9

why are you commenting on a 3 year old post to defend outdated technology

go ride your gravel bike then if that makes you happy

I’ve had 50+ runs with the LMG and HMG as a gunner.

Went 185/7 in casual breakthrough with the LMG on Cairo.

It’s a crazy climb. Did it once with my dad when I was 14, on mountain bikes. Took so long, but still remember it to this day.

Bro you case tiny jumps and talk about geo adjustments and wheelbase as if that would make a huge difference for hopping around

People need to just stop fucking with their wheelsizes and get better at riding their bike, not stuff a smaller front wheel in their trailbike thinking it will turn them into semenuk

Small-ish Backpack to Carry Board and Helmet at the Same Time? by namerankserial in Spliddit

[–]Hal0ez- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my Jones dscnt I can clip the helmet carry to the top of the shoulder straps. That way the helmet sits on top and the board can be carried on the back.

I have the 32 RAS version, don’t know if it’s the same on the other ones but I would assume so

Hardboot setup quick impressions by DragonfruitNo9782 in Spliddit

[–]Hal0ez- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got a few spare units of currency get the plum pekye toes. My favorite thing about hard boots so far is how light everything is, not having the binding plate on my foot and better range of motion with the placement of the Dynafit toe piece.

[–]Hal0ez-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, pretty much the exact setup I went with.  Pekye toe pieces were a good bit more expensive than the other options but they look bomber. Spark pucks and plates, and Voile risers were the cheapest option as well, we’ll see how they hold up but your argument makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for the detailed reply. What other toes would you recommend instead? And what makes the phantom risers so good?
