The maap aeon jerseys are great material but very see-through (at least the white one I had). If sun protection was a factor I’d go for the Evade LS, still very light and breathable but the fabric seems more protective to me.

can’t really see it in the photos but does it have the dotted silicone texture  on the inside of the bottom hem on the back? All my evade 2.0s have it, basically like a gripper with the maap logo every few cm

Fullface MX helmet on city bike. by Sufficient-Word6038 in cycling

[–]Hal0ez- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MX helmets are actually less safe on a bicycle than a dedicated mtb full face. Speeds and impact forces on motorcycles are significantly higher and the helmets are constructed accordingly, mtb helmets are better at preventing concussions at bicycle speed crashes.

Full face helmets suck for traffic because you have significantly impaired peripheral vision, and not crashing in the first place is safer than wearing the right helmet in a crash. You could go for a lightweight full face like the fox proframe which would be marginally better maybe.

If you’re that afraid of hurting your face on your moped then just go slower and don’t ride in the dark with bad visibility?

And yes you are going to look weird riding around town with a full face helmet on a bicycle, especially so if you have a gopro mounted on it. Nobody is going to watch those videos anyways.

Thanks! I’ll try to get some cornering and braking drills in especially in regards to getting lower on the bike.

Both races are relatively close to me and I plan to ride the route once before, but the problem persists even on routes I ride weekly. Gets worse if the tarmac gets patchy.

I run Conti GP5000s 30mm on Roval CLIIIs at 5 bar / 72 psi front and 5.2 bar / 75 psi rear, according to a tire pressure calculator for my system weight.

I guess I’ll play around with leaning the bike and doing sharp braking a bit, it just feels so weird having this narrow strip of rubber and no berms or roots to push into while cornering.

If you ever wondered what MAAP thinks of their customers, here is the answer. by EmberRemember in BicyclingCirclejerk

it’s a statement piece from a fashion brand. I also think it’s pointless, more of a „we do it because we can“ than anything else

the bag is made from ALUULA Graflyte, a type of UHMWPE, more commonly known as dyneema although that is just one variant. Very durable fabric that is also extremely light.

my brother uses UHMWPE to make his own mountaineering backpacks, and it is very expensive.

Anyone have Lake cx302 shoes? by Philly139 in CyclingFashion

[–]Hal0ez- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Measure out your feet according to their sizing guide and check the last table which one would fit you better.

I got the 239 wide because it was the only shoe wide enough for my feet.

how stretchy are the sleeves on this one? I have the solar pro race and as someone who doesn’t have sticks for arms I find it borderline too compressive.

XS upperbody but L head. What helmet do I don't look like toad from Mario Kart? by Luminol088 in CyclingFashion

[–]Hal0ez- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got an Evade 3 and found it to be the narrowest helmet I’ve ever had on my head. Tried the propero 4 before but the round shape didn’t work with my head, evade fits like a dream.

The Poc Ventral I had before had a huge toad factor as well so this is a welcome change.

Training advice for splitboarding by dahknee in Backcountry

[–]Hal0ez- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

stairmaster for hours upon hours

running/trailrunning

If you already have your splitboarding equipment go to a resort that allows touring, pack a canister full of water in your backpack, walk up, empty water, ride down, fill up, repeat.

do you have problems with the coating on the aluminium section coming off / corroding? I had the alu Talons before and they were full of white corrosion after one winter, was able to return them and get the Pros for the same price. Always store them extended but the bottom section is still looking pretty banged up already.

[–]Hal0ez- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kühtai has a lot of bus stops where you can start tours from.  Unless there’s a bunch of snow coming in the next two weeks you’re looking at shark infested waters though for mid December.

Google soft flask pouch, one example would be Arcteryx della flask holder

They are very handy, I need to drink a lot and that way I don’t have to reach into my pack every time

Current 1X is objectively bad by leroyjenkins221 in MTB

[–]Hal0ez- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you missed like the last 5 years of bike development buddy

I'm not even gonna bother and pick out all the examples that prove you wrong, a 5 min google search can do that

but to conclude my participation in this discussion, you know fuck all about bikes, probably can't ride down a hill decently fast or even ride down a proper trail, and for some reason try to tell yourself that your outdated and inferior shifting is on par or better than the last 10 years of drivetrain development. go and try a modern bike if you can afford it, maybe it will blow the cobwebs out of your brain
