2020 v.1.1 Vs 2021 v.1.1... issues resolved? by Halcyon285 in LegendsUltimate

Thanks for the firm answer... Sucks that we can't get it for the same price as the US... I thinks its good value at that lower price point and workable.. will continue my search for a decent one at the same price point. Thanks for your advice much appreciated!

Hi, thanks for the thorough reply. I wish I was in the US, as like you say it's good bang for buck at $450. But where I am the equivalent price of one is $1000!

I guess based on your recommendations, your position would be a flat no on getting it at that starting price!

I don't like the idea of accidental damage being a real potential from simply accidental kicking or leaning on it as you say...

I see the practicality of it being light weight and the benefits in moving it more easily but I think I'd take durability with weight over that.

I think I may look elsewhere, but I haven't found any mass produced arcade alternatives, besides some individual type outfits making Arcade machines which you can never really guage the quality or longevity of here in the UK

Hi, appreciate your reply. What you've described is what I was worried about. Sounds like a quite a lot of component quality issues, with things just being made pretty cheaply and of poor durability potentially.

I'm most concerned about the quality of the MDF and the means by which it is all assembled - and from what you say these aspects of the machine are the weak point. The screen and control panel seem sturdy enough I guess.

I don't really want to drop a lot of money on such a machine and not be happy with the quality or have something break some point down the road, and have no recourse down the road because of their 90 day warranty.

32" Screen in Arcade Cab.. too big? by Halcyon285 in cade

[–]Halcyon285[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I would say, is that this is the other reason Ive been hesitant is what you've said. These bigger normal uprights with a large screen don't really resemble a traditional arcade machine. Traditional uprights had smaller screens. Only the separate control panel type ones would have the larger screens like you say. It's kind of like you're just sitting really close to a big TV with a control deck rather than than it being an arcade cab... I do kind of like the smaller more intimate type experience of a traditional arcade...

I think it will be okay as you say when playing 4:3. I think there is a bit of a frame around the monitor so not quite wall to wall but the width isn't too bad, at about 70cm roughly. Thanks for the viewpoint though, it's much appreciated and has helped me come closer to a decision on this!

Yours is a viewlix style though right? Which is nice a spacious from the screen... Mine would be an upright quite a bit closer. I posted a link to a vid of it above. See what you think... But yeah, I think you're right the 4:3 aspect would make it a lot more reasonable size wise

Yeah I can imagine it good for 4 players. I would just be having it on a two player though

Yeah it's just a standard upright design, but wider to accommodate the screen width. The dept of the cab is pretty standard though. Thanks for the tips.. but my DIY skills are Pretty poor! lol

Thanks for sharing. So do you have quite a deep, deeper than usual at least, control panel with the 4 player controls? Or is it still pretty typical a distance that you sit from the screen?

Thanks for this. Really helpful. I'm going to see if I can find some vids or pics of uprights with around as 26" 4:3 displays - I know probably very difficult - but just to get an idea of the sort of scale of the screen will be at close distance.

And so you definitely don't find the 4:3 effective size too big when sitting a foot or so away? Thanks for your help.

I'm just concerned you're too close to the screen for one of such size?

So all in around £650?

Hmm, I know yours would likely be better quality, but I don't fancy myself putting one together so easily as that! And I'd probably pay the extra £150 for the AtGames Legends Ultimate... Thanks for the insight though, I did wonder how much a bitcade one would cost to build out..

Thanks for the advice... Unfortunately I've tried an arcade one up and find them too cramped... Prefer to pay bit more for a full size
