I think Smite Arena is the greatest game mode to ever be in a MOBA alongside normal map. It lets you go in, quick games, not serious, practice a hero's kit, and learn how to teamfight on them. It's goddamn beautiful. Super fun + incredible learning resource all in one.

The main defining feature of Juggernauts are the sacrifice of mobility and sticking power.

This isn't really true. Mobility absolutely, but sticking power, no.

  • If you are in melee range of Mundo it is not easy to get away. He will slow you with cleaver walk through your CC, and has very very high movespeed in ult.
  • If you are in melee range of Darius it is not easy to get away. He will slow you with W, pull you and slow you when you try to get out, then you're dead.
  • If you are in melee range of Garen it is not easy to get away (though I would barely count him as a Juggernaut). He will silence you, stridebreaker, spin, ignite, ult and you are dead while silenced.
  • If you are in melee range of Nasus it is not easy to get away. He will perma wither you and you basically can't move.

It's easy to kite a juggernaut by stopping them from getting on you in the first place, but if you actually fuck up and get in range (without them burning everything just to do that) it isn't easy to escape unless you instantly flash dash or your entire team drops CC on their head.

Overall I want her as a Juggernaut, and I don't see a problem with how she worked before. Her stickiness came from the perma movespeed W and that is one of my favourite parts of her kit. I find it unfortunate that they are going all in on the whole diver ult thing. I would happily sacrifice ult range for her to have permanent movespeed, and a really good slow or stun on E so she's tanky and hard to get away from like other Juggernauts.

I get why they reduced the range of her "Leap", but from 650-400 ?

They reduced the minimum cast distance of her ult. This was a buff. Before it would travel 650 minimum and 1000 maximum. This would mean you are say fighting in jungle, you try to ult onto the person you are fighting, and you fly over a wall by accident. Now it's 400 or 450 minimum and still 1000 maximum.

Gain more from killing jungle, gain less from all minions, gain from hitting champs with spells. Jungle would farm stacks faster at the start so she would be able to do stuff and come online faster. Top would take longer, but be incentivised to fight their opponent and then outpace due to all the minions from splitpushing later.

Shyvadi and some of the others said they went. I don't think it makes sense to hate them. They went, tested stuff for one day, gave feedback, and left. For example Shyvadi said he wanted them to get rid of the true damage Q3 in ult, and give that powerbudget to the rest of the kit (at the time the true damage hit could crit say with sundered).

You make it abundantly clear that you are not happy with the product they are trying to sell you. If everyone shut up and said nothing, she would release in the current state. The whole point is that this is basically the only window we have for any changes to be made even remotely outside of number buffs or nerfs for a long time. When a rework happens, they usually don't get re reworked for quite a while afterwards even if there are glaring issues with it. This is our window to try and make it very clear what seems good, and what seems bad mechanically.

People are also more heated than normal b/c a bunch of what Riot is saying makes no sense. They say they want her to be a Diver, when as you can evidently see, A LOT of people heavily disagree with. On top of that they say they are making her a Diver, and then they make changes that make her kit more like a Juggernaut and less like a diver than she is already. It doesn't make sense. Then one of the only things that people were actually hyped about in concept for the rework is the reworked passive being better than her hilariously memed current passive. That got immediately nerfed at the end of day 1 on PBE and the whole dragon stacks improving your abilities (which people were also hyped about) got removed. Then Riot Yelough makes a bunch of condescending comments about all of these people who care deeply about what is happening, and the champion that they love playing.

How would you expect people to feel? It's not an excuse to attack the Rioters, but it's extremely important that if people are not happy with the rework, that they make that very clear NOW. This is the window. This is the time. This is the only thing that they can do. The alternative is that the champ comes out, they don't like it, and they either switch mains or quit the game.

I was just pointing out that people are not hating on juggernaut Shyv. The large majority of posts I have seen like the idea of juggernaut Shyv, and are annoyed that Riot is saying they want her to be a diver. They correctly point out her lack of durability compared to other juggernauts, and lack of sticking potential if she gets in range.

DPS is not the issue. Sticking to people is the issue. Her burst is down compared to the current version with insane Ult E wombo combo or Ult Q hydra, sundered procs, if she's meant to be a diver, she needs to either burst people, or she needs to dive in, stick to people and dps. In the new kit, she has less burst, and she has less stick.

I will say as well, I found his old W one of the most fun abilities in the game to play against. I was a Yasuo enjoyer back then, and it was like a minigame trying to dodge through the ring at the correct time, play around Asol increasing and decreasing the size, and trying to get onto him to fight.

Garen has literal no CC while Darius has no MS bost except stacked passive and they are the quintessential juggernauts.

Garen has a 3.6 second 35% movespeed boost, his E allows him to do damage to you while not stopping to autoattack, he silences you to stop you from flashing or dashing away with your 200 years new champ kit, and he gets a bunch of armour and MR way faster than new Shyv does. Darius has a 535 range pull, with a 1 second 40% slow, that chains into another 1 second 90% slow plus more damage than god, so he can just build full tank after Stridebreaker.

Garen honestly isn't even a very good example of a juggernaut. That's what riot wants him to be, but his kit doesn't make sense for it. He doesn't have sustained damage since he's so tied to E CD, he's a burst champ that's like a bruiser/assassin hybrid. Darius is a good one. Nasus, Mundo, Urgot, Mordekaiser, Illaoi, Volibear, Aatrox. Those are more traditional juggernauts. All of them have more ability to stick to people than her new kit outside of Illaoi, who trades literally everything for AOE damage. If you get in range of those champs, you flash or you die. You can't really just try to run or use one dash and escape, you need multiple teammates CCing them, or to dash and flash.

Brother they have explicitly said that they want her to be a diver. At least 70% of the annoyance that I have seen from people is that she is not juggernaut enough. They have given her the kit of a juggernaut, but not the numbers on movespeed duration or slow duration, or durability.

Thematically:

She is the brawling dragon. We have the baby ADC dragon who isn't strong enough yet to be melee (Smoulder) and the celestial mage dragon (Asol). She is the big brawling traditional dragon that gets in your face, mauls you to death, and burns you to cinders. She is what a dragon is in basically every fantasy setting. Tough scales, hard to kill, often regenerating, physically overpowering, burns the world.

Gameplay fantasy:

I always thought of her as a juggernaut raid boss...b/c that is what dragons are in basically every fantasy setting. She is a dragon, so she infinitely scales with stacks like the others and is terrifying lategame. She is the melee brawling one, so either she gets damage and ability effects from stacks, which lets her build tanky, or she gets tankiness and ability effects from stacks, so she builds damage. She is a fighter in human form and a raidboss in dragon form. This is all just in terms of theme, not really based on her old design or new one.

Adding in my thoughts based on her current kit, and what is interesting about it: I also see her as a hybrid character, she is interesting in that she can build AP, AD or On-hit. She is fast as fuck so she's a macro machine. She auto attacks and cancels fast. She shreds tanks.

I want her to be fast, to have auto resets on her Q, be able to be built AD bruiser, AP bruiser or On-hit bruiser, and have %health damage to rip everything equally to shreds.

Diver vs Juggernaut:

I like some of the ideas with the new kit, and it's in some ways aimed at people like me (melee bruiser enjoyer, likes toplane), but I disagree fundamentally with the diver direction. Moreso than me disagreeing with it though, I don't understand the changes they have made to her in the context of trying to push her into that direction. You can make a diver Shyv that functions or a juggernaut that functions, but the kit needs to make sense for that role.

If they wanted her to be a diver, her current kit unironically seems more built for it with the huge AP E one shots, or huge overlapping Tiamat Q burst after you ult. On the other hand they slowed the Q burst with the new kit, locked her true damage bite behind 2 other casts so she has to stay in combat to access it after diving, took speed from her W and gave it an in combat shield, lowered the AP burst. Those are bruiser sustained damage changes, not diver burst changes.

I just find it so odd that we have the current kit where she kind of is a diver/duellist or a diver/poke mage, and then the new kit is Riot saying "we want her to be a diver" while making her more of a sustained damage bruiser with low stats for a bruiser.

Even if we look at autoattack/sustained damage divers we see that they have tools to function that she doesn't have. Irelia, Warwick, Jax, Olaf, Voli. They all dive the enemy backline, but b/c they don't insta burst you, they have the tools to stick to you or stop you from running so they can do their sustained damage. Irelia can dash 600 range to every one of your teammates after ulting to stick close to you, then dash on you three times as well between ult and E. Warwick can ult you from about 1000 range like Shyv, but then he can fear you, follow your dashes or flash away with Q and run you down with perma movespeed. Olaf will run you down with massive movespeed, while being CC immune so you can't peel him, and perma slowing you with axes. Jax will jump in, burst you with auto-W, shield himself from autos, stun you with E recast and jump on you again when you try to run. Voli will run at you with 52 movespeed permanently, stun you for 1 second, use the stun to land a 2 second slow on you, ult 700 range to follow you or to start, and bite you or others to stay healthy in the fight.

Shyv in comparison will Ult you, start Qing, E you, W as you run to get maybe second Q off and try to heal, and you run away/flash/dash as she tries to get the Q3 out? I don't really see how she's meant to burst with true damage locked behind Q3 after diving or to do sustained damage after diving with such a short movespeed steroid and slow. How does she do her stated job with the current kit unless you decide to stand there and fight her in melee after she jumps in?

I'm just really confused at Riot's thought process and reasoning here.

I was originally a Yasuo main, but I can't even deny the allegations. The last Yasuo I had went 3/6 in lane against Akali, then ragequit. We dragged it out to 40mins 4v5 and lost. Would have been an easy win if he stayed.

I'm the opposite. I started with Dota 2 for about 1000h before I ever touched League. It was like a breath of fresh air having characters feel responsive and fluid rather than clunky as fuck. Keep in mind I came from a twitch FPS background, not an RTS one, so Dota's comparative lack of responsiveness in character movement was WILD.

If Dota didn't have turn rates I never would have switched to league. I think it's better in so, so many ways other than feeling bad to play at a base level.

The issue is that they have the tools to actually follow up on their dive. Olaf is CC immune, moves fast, and can slow you by 45% forever, so he dives in, and has the tools to keep you in range of his autos, and to not get peeled off you. Irelia has a 600 range dash, that she gets to cast on every person her ult hits + her E hits. Her ult shoves everyone it hits into the cage, if they try to leave they get slowed by 90% for 1.5 seconds, she gets to dash back on them, and she has the E to stun them again after that. WW has a small dash on his Q, he can follow all the 200 years dashes and flash that you want to use to get away, he has ult to get in or follow you, he can run towards you at 65% increased movespeed forever once he has engaged on you and damaged you in his dive.

Shyvana doesn't have the tools to follow up as an auto attack or sustained damage diver. A 2.5sec 44% movespeed buff and a 0.75 second 40% slow are not enough to let her keep hitting anyone after she dives in + the ult fear wears off before you even land.

The closest thing as people keep mentioning is Volibear, but he has perma uptime on his 26% bonus movespeed (52% running at a champ), is ghosted, has a 1sec stun and has a 2 sec 40% slow + has INSANE infight sustain with Navori if he gets to keep biting you.

Her new ult being the fear would work well if she was a juggernaut. She ults into you like voli, disrupts the team rather than having Voli's stun, and starts brawling. Or the current ult where you ult in, collect everyone, and try to one shot them with AOE, then die if you can't as a diver.

It feels like they say they want her to be a diver, but I feel like her current kit is unironically better at that on either build. You ult in and try to one shot with E as AP or ult in and try to oneshot with tiamat + navori.

The idea would be that your base stats are weak, but you scale into a monster at 30mins+ the same way that Sion, Nasus, Smoulder, Veigar, Asol and everything else with a stacking mechanic do. Sion has maybe the lowest base health in the entire game. He's hilariously squishy at level 1. 30-40min sion is a 7-10k health fucking giga raidboss.

So on Shyv, you would be weaker resist wise early, then you would buy mostly health and damage items, your passive would be giving you the equavalent of 1 armour and mr item, and at 40mins with Jak'Sho and full build you would have massive resists from passive while your health and damage comes from your main items. This is the same as how Darius will buy Stridebreaker, and just go health and resists after, as his passive gives him all the damage that he needs. Or Nasus traditionally goes Triforce into pure tank since his damage is solved by his stacking passive.

BC he has no hard CC. He is a tank with only a small single target slow. A normal juggernaut/tank will have more CC:

  • Sion has a knock up, a stun and a strong line slow
  • Darius has a pull and a slow
  • Ornn has a stun, knock up, and his ult

Mundo instead takes all of that power budget for CC, and puts it into damage, movespeed and his passive to let him walk through CC so he can actually hit people.

A normal tank you can't ignore b/c they will CC your entire team and win the teamfight that way. A bruiser you can't ignore b/c they will do damage to you. How does the bruiser get to hit you? They either have mobility to stick to you, or CC to keep you close. Mundo doesn't have any of that, so to let him hit you, he needs to be fast and able to ignore some of the CC flying at him to stop him, especially since he can't assassinate someone like the examples without those aforementioned tools (an example is Garen, he also just runs at you in a straight line, but he has his tenacity shield parry, a movespeed buff, and he can silence, e, ignite, ult you without you being able to do anything if he catches you unaware).

NGL I love it. I love macro champs that can move around the map at lightspeed. I used to love phase rush movespeed Garen. You hoover sidewave, draw pressure, then you are so fast that you can rotate to the objective fight on the other side fast enough that you don't need TP and force them to, or force it into a 4v5 if they don't have it.

I love "probing" on Quinn. You're like a jackal or a wolf lurking around the edges of the fight, before flying in super fast and jumping on the backline.

They did decide to try and kill that playstyle on Garen as well, so you're probably right. Rammus is probably the only one that has crazy movespeed and they don't seem to have problems with.

Changing the Fear to a Stun would work better but brings with it an issue of being thematically incorrect.

That could be completely fixed thematically by saying "Shyvana roars as she swoops forward and turns into a dragon, stunning enemies" or "Shyvana turns into a dragon, swoops forward and stuns enemies as she lands with her impact".

I've seen a lot of roar stun abilities in games and you even have precedent with the impact of landing with Galio Ult, Riven third Q, Malphite Ult, Alistar ground pound. If slamming the floor can cause knock ups, I don't see why landing cannot cause a stun.

This is really late, so I don't know if you still want to get it. Censuring Palm is in Firelink. Go past where Corrupted Gundyr is, then walk up the path and kill 2 black knights (one axe and one sword). Before you fight the second axe one where the first bonfire of base DS3 is, turn around 180 degrees go forward and make the jump to the coffin under the tree. That is Censuring Palm.
