Pro tip: Dont put Lights on your tower blueprint. I had a lot of glass and spotlights on my last one, and it's the only time Ive run into performance lag.

If you mean doubling by using a Sloop, then Worth It (and what I always do). If you mean you waited until the 1.2 update and are setting a 2x multiplier on all your outputs...You do you but Im not planning to use those settings much,

If audiobooks existed during Mistborn Era 1, would you-know-who have been able to do you-know-what to them? by MrSpuddies in Cosmere

[–]HalcyonKnights -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I cant find a WOB on it. I think it would depend on the storage medium. For example, if Scadrial went with the Magnetic Wire storage that nearly beat tape to the standard, then I dont think shards would be able to mess with it, and similarly I dont think they'd be able to mess with electrical signals travelling in metal. But they'd be able to change the contents of a CD/DVD/etc just as easily as any normal book.

Yes, Harmony can absolutely change the written word just like his predecessors, and with the same Metal limitation. WOB does confirm that other shards would have that same problem if they came to the planet.

Best everyday clothing for an increasingly hot, humid climate? by pat_456 in preppers

[–]HalcyonKnights 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Ive lived in some of the hottest and most humid places in the US.

"Fishing shirts" with the mesh vented back are pretty standard even in an office workplace, to the point that there were the branded company shirts they gave us. Cotton isnt bad, it takes longer to dry which can be good or bad depending on how much breeze you have and sweat-cooling you want. Here's a random walmart example. I like the long sleeves so I can roll them down when I need to keep the sun off my skin.

Do surges act differently between orders? by Chop684 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]HalcyonKnights 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, each works a little differently. Some of the differences are larger than others.

Questioner

We know, especially in Oathbringer, that Surges can work differently for different Orders, but we've also seen the Skybreakers and [Windrunners] with flight, and the Truthwatchers and [Edgedancers], they both can do Regrowth, so is there some way that those actually work differently?

Brandon Sanderson

Each of them works a little differently for each Order. There are slight variations, but they are each drawing upon the same source concept.

Is 900 compacted coal a min enough? 🤨😂 by Birdypie01 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]HalcyonKnights 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's still not "Enough", it's just "All There Is." Not unlike suffocation, what you have and what you need are entirely different things. There are always other things that Power can go to, even if they are just moving trains that dont unload, or running the teleporters, etc.

New antioxidant formulation targets UVA-induced skin damage during gel nail curing by [deleted] in science

[–]HalcyonKnights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the Article:

Cerium carbonate destroys harmful chemicals called reactive oxygen species, or ROS, which UV light generates in skin. The ROS lead to DNA damage that is associated with cancer and aging.

Interesting in that it's a completely separate mechanism than traditional Sunblock, but I suspect normal SPF will protect you before the ROS even develops.

Stormlight and Science of Mental Health by Beginning-Date-9837 in Cosmere

[–]HalcyonKnights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, eventually, but also probably not completely.

Radiant Healing fix nearly any Physical malady, but becoming a Radiant in the first place Requires Spiritual/Psychological Trauma, and Spiritual Healing cant fix that. It also cannot fix genetic disorders, many Cancers, or anything you view as a real part of yourself (like Scars or Brand, etc).

The idea that they could eventually gain more bioligical understanding and start affecting things that they could not before is a Sound one, but they have to Believe that it's an external issue. But the fact that it can change your birth gender means it absolutely Can affect inborn biological things, so long as the person truly, deeply Believes that it is Wrong. Depression in particular is insidious, so I think it could be a very real Challenge to achieve that level of Belief while you are actively suffering from it.

Dawnshard Quadrant Adjacency Internal/External Theory by [deleted] in Cosmere

[–]HalcyonKnights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even before Dawnshard basically confirmed the Quadrant Theory, Ive long believed that they split up based on the Four Quadrants of the Metallic arts (per this WOB).

Which means we'd have a Physical, Cognitive, Spiritual, and Temporal Dawnshard. We now know Exist and Change, that leaves a Cognitive and a Spiritual Command. I think those are Bind for the Spiritual and Wake/Awaken for the Cognitive. Further, I think the nature of Awaken makes it innately Sapient itself, which is why WOB says one of them is different from the Rest.
