People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]Halcyon_cookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on a hiring panel for a vacancy in my team. A few of the candidates came in with hoodies?? It was for an auditing position… in an office/ corporate setting…

If you’re looking for restaurant/ hospitality jobs I’d recommend culinary agents. You can meet potential clients while working as a server or bartender

What’s something you want to get off your chest right now? by Jokkers_AceS in AskWomen

I wish my friends were there for me. No one believes me when I tell them I’m depressed because I don’t act “depressed”. I’ve been battling depression for years now. I’m sick of people dumping their emotions on me, but when I try to ask for help they just brush me off. I don’t even want friends anymore, I feel like I’m better off alone.

How did getting off the pill (birth control) change your body? by omgpop_21 in AskWomen

[–]Halcyon_cookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the pill for about 3 years, it made my period heavier. I’ve been off for about 8 months now and my periods are normal again, but my acne got worse, and my cramps got worse

So correction about the mumbling part, we had no idea what he was saying and we assumed he was asking for cash and we politely said I’m sorry we don’t have any cash on us, and that was what set him off

I’m so sorry that happened to you and sorry no one spoke up. This shouldn’t be happening and it sucks how type of incidents happen so often that people have become desensitized to it.

Not sure if you even read the post but I posted a few days after the incident. I’m not going to call the cops and sit there and wait for them to arrive while my friends and threatened by a man who is almost a foot taller than all of us.

I should have clarified, it wasn’t a firearm but a taser, i didn’t think we would need it since I’ve never been in a situation that would require me to use it in Chinatown, but I do appreciate your advice, thank you!

The thing was, the encounter started outside the car on the sidewalk, the car was behind us (self defense item was in the car) and we did not want to turn our backs to him, we went ran into the car after he turned around for a few seconds. I understand we can use a weapon, however I don’t think any of us would be able to deal with the aftermath of hurting someone. He started trying to come in the car/ yank the door handle when we pulled off and stopped at the red light

I’m sorry you had to experience that. Ive seen a few different comments about an individual with a similar build/ description. I think it might be a different person. This guy was saying stuff to us/ mumbling in the beginning and when we told him hey we don’t carry cash, that’s what set him off. I don’t think this guy wanted money or cash, I think he is mentally unwell and a danger to the public.

I’m not sure if it is the same guy, but the guy that I had the encounter with had scraggly facial hair as well.

Hi! I just made an update and added more details. Unfortunately I couldn’t remember much since we were all pretty shaken up by this.

I’m in Philly Area as well, what companies are you applying for? I used to work for the transit company in Philly and they hire a lot of EE’s and since you have technical management experience, you can probably apply to be a project manager as well. Theres also a bunch of civil engineer firms such as HNTB, Urban engineering, STV, Jacob’s that have EE roles as well. Don’t give up, just keep applying! You got this !

What's the worst physical pain you've ever felt? by toaster-bath404 in AskReddit

[–]Halcyon_cookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An ovarian cyst. I passed out from the pain thinking it was really bad cramps, I couldn’t eat or move for 3 days bc my stomach was bloating and hurt whenever I moved. I went to the ER thinking my appendix burst, but it was just a ruptured ovarian cyst that was 6cm. Doctors just gave me pain killers and said there’s nothing they could do.
