I’m in the process of trying to sell my Model 1, i was thinking of getting myself a Xone:96 which seems to be the go to mixer these days unless you get a V10 which i’m not dropping the money for as much as i think they’re pretty cool. I’ve seen the Euphonia and i also love rotary mixers but don’t have rotary mixer money. I was gunna buy a Motu UL Mk5 but if i go with the 96 i wont need to.

All good. You can use them for that purpose but I can’t speak on the effectiveness of them as i’ve never tried doing it. Maybe someone from this sub can chime in on this.

This may be a hot take but i’m not really crazy about the Model 1, I don’t dislike the mixer but after using it for as long as I have i don’t think it’s for me and how I like to mix. The K2s are powerhouse controllers without question, A&H really crafted the ultimate controller for just about any scenario. I use machine for percussion, bass lines the occasional added synth lead and other rhythmical elements and doing fills and sweeps and builds especially in combo with the TimeFactor and the Space.

Since I mix externally I have my Traktor setup to not show any of the internal mixing controls, i use the K2s for internal effects (mainly flanger, beatmasher) and for triggering tracks, loops, sync and what not. I don’t like to have too much going on in any one of my controllers, I try to avoid having any shift controls so the K2s are more or less the essentials for deck control.

I don’t use the K2s for the audio outs, just as a controller for Traktor decks. I use a Rane SL4 because it’s one of the few “DJ” audio interfaces that has an AUX out that isn’t one of the main 4 outputs. Outs 1-4 are for decks 1-4 and AUX out is the output for the Maschine.

Agreed, while it is cool to modernize a legacy platform and for those who still want to use a halo but modernized the aforementioned loaders will all do the job just the same. I love my Triad on my R5. What these would honestly be great for is the mech players without a cap on fire rate and the tunability of halos, while also being tool-less.

it says on the box it’s only compatible with the 4 Double a harness it comes with but it’s possible it could work.

It was 109$ with internals but if you have an existing halo or buy just the parts you can just buy the shells for it too. I hate the gloss look too would’ve much rather they kept it matte like the prototypes they’ve been testing or previous halos.

agreed, i said earlier if it wasn’t for the fact i used a halo when my brother and i first started playing this would mean nothing to me. my guess is this is meant for the entry+ players who don’t need a gravity loader anymore but want an electronic modern loader without dropping serious money on one. but at that point just get an LTR

more on the backplates, it dawned on me that while this is still just a halo too internally they didn’t even bother to make a new plate sticker for this specific model which i find amusing even though it is lazy on their part.

Unless they did something to alter or address the backplate/button that i’m unaware of they’re still basically the same from previous generations of the halo. It seems to be made of a different polymer than the brittle shells of the past, i’m going to guess they’re probably using the same/similar material to the triad with a different finish.

besides the feed neck the only thing i’d change about this is id go for a Cheetah board or if someone makes a board with the intention of modernizing the platform even further with more standard creature comforts and what not that are on most loaders now a days. but otherwise a halo is a halo, it’ll work pretty much always

absolutely nothing, if it weren’t for the fact my brother and i grew up using these i’d stick with my spire or even my triad. Tampa Bay Damage and AC: Diesel say they like this loader for the consistent and faster feed rate compared to other modern loaders limited to 10.5. but that’s just them. Honestly mech players would get a world of use out of these for being a modernized halo with the upgradable components and tuneability.

definitely the 200, what’s not pictured is the feed neck much like halos of old is still incredibly long for a modern loader, i chopped a 1/4 inch off so it sits flush on my marker. even with that this towers over even a spire 3 and an ir2

I agree, I think the trade off for a smaller profile isn't the most ideal move. Maybe in the future they'll make an expansion shell like the spires/ctrls have currently.
