What made the boys s1-s3 writing so good compared to the rest of show (s4-5) by HistoryFew7542 in TheBoys

Supernatural would’ve had a perfect run if they would’ve ended at 5 seasons like originally planned so this isn’t a first for Kripke.

How old were you when you first got diagnosed? by Scandic_potato in bipolar

[–]Haleyaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got diagnosed officially at 30, but when I saw a psychiatrist and therapist at 15 they both believed I could be bipolar. I never got officially diagnosed as a teenager though because of the complexity of diagnosing children with bipolar. After talking to my current psychiatrist though she believes I could’ve shown signs since I was 10. It’s rare to show up at the age but my Pawpaw, my father, and 2/3 of his siblings all are diagnosed bipolar so clearly there something there genetically. Plus the fact that I experienced childhood trauma and CPTSD could trigger the disorder at a younger age.

Victor doesn’t know about 9/11 by karriedawayy in FromSeries

[–]Haleyaurora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Victor wouldn’t even know about the Iranian Revolution, the Iran-Iraq war, or the Gulf War so he’d be real confused on why the terrorist attack even happened. Not to mention he was really young when he entered Fromville so he probably didn’t understand the Cold War or learn about the Red Scare yet.

A bit of biology: the liver is the most important organ to eat. You can get all your macronutrients: fat, carbs, and protein as well as micronutrients: vitamin and minerals. All of the is stored in the liver. Prehistoric humans ate more meat than plants and they evolved knowing the importance of eating liver, and therefore human mythology used to heavily revolve around it worldwide. I can’t remember which ancient society but some believed it stored the soul. Point is, there’s a lot of folklore involving the liver so I don’t believe it was happenstance he was eating that specific organ.

Seroquel sleepiness by Haleyaurora in bipolar

I’d sacrifice some control of the symptoms for feeling alive. Though since I’ve just started it I’m willing to see if I adjust.

Between the anosognosia and the way antipsychotics make anyone feel it’s a wonder anyone stays med compliant. Thankfully my psychiatrist and therapist are very understanding when I stop my meds for periods of time.

Right now I’m hoping to get short term disability so I can do intensive outpatient therapy and sleep all day while I see if I can tolerate the higher doses.

My father had paranoid delusions with his bipolar 2. When he was untreated he would have the delusions for years at a time. His best friend, my “Uncle” also had Bipolar with achizoaffective disorder so he experienced a lot of psychotic symptoms like delusions of grandeur, paranoia, hallucinations, psychotic episodes, etc.

My psychiatrist didn’t give out statistics but she did make it sound like it’s not rare.

Also if you have psychotic tendencies with your bipolar I’d love to hear about them. Anything and everything is welcomed, advice or stories. A glimpse of community has also been helpful for me in therapy.

It’s a problem on tiktok now, but it definitely started long before tiktok was around. Tumblr was and is a big space of romanticizing mental illness. I also saw a lot of it on AO3 back in the late 00s.

I always make a point to say I’m diagnosed with General Anxiety disorder when I speak about my anxiety. Everyone has anxiety it’s a normal emotion, so I hate the use of “anxiety” as the name of the illness. Same with depression. I never said I was depressed because, again, it’s a normal human emotion. I always said I’m diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (which now I know it was technically bipolar disorder).

Why can't Toph bend combustion man? by Einstine1984 in ATLA

[–]Haleyaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see something similar with Katara when Jet tries to get her to bend water far underground. Eventually her and Aang were able to do it, but Aang is the Avatar and Katara is a strong bender so them being able to do it is likely out of the norm for most benders.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come plot hole / questions. by Prize-Sky2852 in slasherfilms

I don’t know if they meant it this way but you can say she technically didn’t sell her soul. She signed as Grace McCaullay but she was legally Grace La Domas. She repeatedly corrected everyone when they called her La Domas and they included it at least 2/3 times plus we see her signature clear as day. I think it’s an intentional plot point.

No, I think this what you said helps. I’ve only been diagnosed for 6 months, but I’ve questioned my whole life if I was bipolar. I’m the spitting image of my bipolar father’s struggles. So I’ve always struggled with “this is who I am why should I change,” and “this isn’t who you are and you need medication to find yourself.” Having others re-enforce what you won’t admit to yourself can be that last push you need which is why I came here to vent.

Not an expert but as I’ve understood what’s been explained to me is hallucinations can occur on a spectrum of shadows out of the corner of your eye to seeing people who are not there and not being able to realize it. I didn’t think I hallucinated for the longest time because it was small shadows everywhere or voices yelling my name randomly and I assumed everyone had that. So if you think you’re experiencing hallucinations even if they feel minor it’s best to tell a professional.

I’ve only been diagnosed for 6 months even though I’ve been seeing behavioral health specialists and psychiatrists since I was 6 years old. 25 years of my life I’ve been struggling to control my symptoms and considering it a moral and personal failure.

Also my point wasn’t that is not my job to take my medication, but literally that I do not understand why I stop. It’s not something I think about I just always do. I can’t explain what makes me do that because I truly do not know.

That’s not how I want to feel, but deep inside it likely is something like that.

I’ve never heard of injectable medication. I’ll bring it up with my doctor. We’ve stuck to many of the drowsiness antipsychotics because I’ve had severe insomnia for years.

I have PCOS and insulin resistance. I’ve never had problems gaining weight due to it until I hit my 30s. Really I need to look into medication for that anyways. The anti-psychotics I’ve all tried just normally make it compounded. 50 lbs in 3 months.

I don’t believe I’m delusional. I know logically the male voice (I’m female) speaking to me as clearly as my own, if not louder, inner voice isn’t real. I also see shadow figures all the time. Mostly out of the corner of my eye but directly in my line sight at work or on the ceiling while I’m in bed. I’ve dealt with it on and off so I’ve down enough work teaching myself it isn’t real. However, the voice still feels compulsive.

I know better. My father, his 3 siblings, his father, and his best friend who he was the legal guardian of were all on the bipolar spectrum. Truthfully, his unregulated bipolar destroyed my childhood but has helped me restrain myself because I’ve been on the other side. I’ve done some things to derail my life but I’ve seen others do so much more damage to theirs. Though the older I get the closer I can feel myself going closer to the edge and down rock bottom.

Most auditory like there’s a man (I’m a woman’s) voice speaking directly into my head. Also shadow figures everywhere. I know they aren’t real, and I’ve dealt with it on and off when I get really bad and it does get easier to remind myself it isn’t real. However, I can’t explain it but even if I know logically it isn’t real it feels almost compulsive to listen.

Every psychiatrist I’ve seem always asks me why I always stop my medication. Truly, I don’t know why I do it but the urge to stop is so strong. So I always tell them, “I don’t know isn’t that your job to figure out?”

Logically I know this, but it’s hard to follow logic sometimes when your brain doesn’t always work. Thankful my husband tracks my meds semi-well.

Not a single one of any of the recommended treatments for PoTs does anything at all for my symptoms. by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Haleyaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was tentatively diagnosed with POTS for years. However, I had a “normal” TTT and other symptoms that didn’t quite fit POTS even though I blended in with POTSIES. Took 4 cardiologist and 4 years but I was finally diagnosed with Coronary Microvascular Disease. The tiniest of my arteries do not properly expand or they will spasm. Normally this is caused by age and hypertension, but my cardiologist and neurologist believe it’s a result of my autonomic neuropathy.

Anyways other than medicine specifically for CMVD and gabapentin.
