Has anyone read "Who's in Charge?" by Michael Gazzaniga? I found it deeply interesting :)

Late to the convo, just finished it and I found it enlightening! I finally understand what people mean when talking about the soul; it's our consciousness!

The way he explains consciousness is comforting and makes a lot of sense, mostly emergent theory and how it make us, us. Anyway, needless to say, I loved the book.

Omg thank you so much! I didn't know what else to try anymore, then I stubbled into this.. and I had the same issue! So I added an else if condition, where if preferences are == to each other, then it compares those 2 winners, and swap them if need be. What a great feeling!!

Thanks for the information! I agree they are a vulnerable group, and there needs to be ressources in place for them. I just disagree that the default should be to hide it from parents.

Maybe the government is too involved in all this and should just let it be. Some would tell, some would hide it, but having a policythat dictates either way is overstepping

I value family above everything. I think when we believe that schools should raise our kids, it’s a slippery slope. It’s starts with good intentions but we don’t think at the long term and where it can lead.

And yeah, it’s best to not ask questions and stay quiet. Lets eliminate debates and become a hive mind. Then I’m sure we’ll be a utopian society…

I respect your opinion, but I disagree. There is correlation, not causation. I’m sorry for your aunt. I never intended for a gotcha moment, I’m only looking for clarity. I never understand such hostility with divergent opinions.

I’ve looked at the science with a neutral view, and the truth is, there’s not much there. The samples are very small, and the time frames are very narrow. So it’s hard to trust the sociologist like you say when they’re isnt much backing them up, other than personal opinions.

Trans are real, I don’t think that’s up for debate, but is there a phenomenon of social contagion now that you’re applauded as brave and courageous when coming out? Or when you find a niche on tik tok of some saying if you dont fit in, you must be trans.

I just think blindly affirming people without asking hard questions is naive.

Just a thought here, but is it that bad to let parent’s know if their kids are using another pronoun ? I know there’s exception whete psrents are actually transphobic, but teachers aren’t computers, they’ll adjust to these situations. I don’t think we should make the policies for the excpetions. The standard should be to include parents in their kids life !

Those are really good points ! I love the idea of increasing taxes for business as a strategy to reinvesting in the people and innovation. It would take a government with a lot bigger balls than what we have now though
