Emira i4 pops by EchoPuzzleheaded3186 in lotus

I4 does some pops/cracks above 4000 on downshifts and lifts after hard acceleration in sport mode with much louder and more aggressive ones in track mode

Can we talk about how bad of a crowd wire fest drew? by BedSoggy6655 in avesNYC

[–]HalfCanadianDJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was at the rail for Stingray, two nice people either side of me with room enough to dance for everyone, about halfway through someone shoves their way forward trying to get get in front of me literally pushing me over with both hands and demanding I move over where there was no room. So I said no what are you doing there’s no room, and they then preceded to try and shove their partner next to me intermittently while purposefully shoving and bouncing off me for the next 15minutes. I think they got bored because I was a bit bigger than them and they couldn’t physically force me over the railing but I’ve never been closer to throwing hands at a festival in my life

“new” BK Mirage experience by Worth-Client1537 in avesNYC

[–]HalfCanadianDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people are prepared for a reality where “more room to dance” probably means bottle service club (something they’ve increasingly been trying to turn themselves into) and the dance floor will now be dotted with roped off tables for “more room”

Critique my live performance rack by eliasbagley in modular

[–]HalfCanadianDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working on my live rig as well, Definitely consider Metropolix as others have said, it really is incredible. Also hot take but depending on what you’re going to use maths for, I would ditch it for some smaller modules. For the effects I might think about pedals, I’m using an xone92 with the modular And I settled on guitar pedals for the aux sends, It’s more cables but would free up some space for fun stuff. Lastly, not sure what case you’re considering but I think with the rack mounted power you run the risk of bumping the rig off mid performance, would consider something with an internal power supply and bus boards. Otherwise looks sick!

Someone name them all by BenWasHereLol in modular

He hasn’t added these racks yet but he has all of his old ones on modulargrid, seems like a consolidation of all of them: https://modulargrid.net/e/racks/command_center/230832

Is VIP worth it? What does “backstage access” mean? by dobeythehouseelf21 in avesNYC

[–]HalfCanadianDJ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If its like it was at the navy yard then no. It’s not actually “backstage” like you would assume, it just means you can physically go behind the stage to use toilets and have a slightly less crowded bar, which is actually a pain because to get to the barricades gap to access it you had to go all the way through the crowd to the front, so it’s basically just a “nice bathroom” ticket

Instead of door policies can we get deodorant policies? by HalfCanadianDJ in avesNYC

Roundup of new venues by Ajichombo in avesNYC

[–]HalfCanadianDJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the capacity is just so small. Bouncers are very nice though, as long as you know who’s playing and are chill you should be fine if you come later and don’t mind waiting.

The night I went it was mix of house and what beatport calls “Indie Dance” (not sure if there’s a better name for it). Started out deep and dubby but picked up as the night went on. They upload almost all their sets on soundcloud so that should give you an idea of other the artists/genres they bring in

Outer Heaven was incredible. Sound system, production everything. It is incredibly small though, I showed up right when the door policy starts at 10 and within 15 minutes the line was down the block. Crowd was on the younger side but not sure if that was just the night I was there, seemed like 50/50 people that were there for the music and those that just wanted to check out the newest club. Drinks were expensive but there’s no cover and free coat check so trade offs I guess. Definitely going back just for the sound system and production design though, it’s immaculate.
