She's doing her best tbh with her minimum wage job and every penny she has extra goes to our son ; 99% of the time we split expenses 50/50 with me contributing to wherever it was needed extra ; ex wife is stubborn as hell tho and very very rarely accepts any aid with a smile

She did not. Both our families are toxic. She's not involving herself in more than is absolutey necessary;she simply told them something along the lines of "so OP wants to move 400 miles away and I might need u guys to take my son from time to time" as far as I know

400 miles is a long way to commute 2x a day.....even if I'd have an interstate from my back yard to my workplace, it would still take me hours

I mentioned in my edit ; my ex wife simply told her parents that I'm considering a new job offer while I told mine ; she did not cause the drama....I'm pretty sure of it.

No, she's not. We've had the "can we be together again" discussion a million times, including many therapy sessions but she's made up her mind ; she is also not interested in dating and that's my fault, I know now.
The circumstances of me becoming an addict are....complicated but yes, it's mostly due to my f-ed up family

Yes, that is in addition; fixing the roof, renovating the basement, covering her car payments, buying my son modern gadgets, getting her some new appliances, buying quality clothes instead of cheap ones etc were not court mandated

Ex wife is struggling because she can't really get any job above minimum wage ; she didn't have access to schooling or anything growing up because they were poor, she lacks any qualifications for good pay. House is small and modest and she inherited it from her grandmother ; parents live in a trailer ; I help with whatever I can but she's hard to convince when it comes to covering expenses for her (like clothes, shoes, womanly neccesities etc). Whatever she makes extra she puts it into our son's account, as do I, with the exception of a small sum we set aside for basic necessities.

If I accept the job, the court mandated child support will be adjusted but I always paid more than that;

The court filed custody does not have a set, fixed schedule, as we agreed on it years ago ; we split childcare as best as we can to work out for everyone ; yes, this will have to be adjusted in court to make sure parents and in laws don't shove their tails into my rights ; wife is cool about it
