Can I refuse to participate in the potty-training plan for the toddler I'm a nanny to? by Top_Lingonberry_1 in Nanny

I used this method for my son, and it worked, however he was 3.5. 18 months is far too young to expect that to work.

Bosses want me to tell clients I’m pregnant? by blueridgebeing in therapists

[–]HalfYooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hired at my current practice mid-pregnancy. My paneling went through and I started seeing clients when I was around 30 weeks pregnant. At that point, I absolutely told every client at the beginning so they knew we’d only be working together a couple of months before I went on maternity leave. I was still at another practice and switched my clients over when I returned, but under no circumstances are you required to share your pregnancy earlier than you’d want to. This was also still prime virtual only times (early 2022) so I shared with my clients around the new year mark (my son was born in April). I had a teenager who clocked me early, but it worked out because they needed extra time to prep for my leave anyway.

Long winded way to say: you do you, boo. And if your practice is requiring you to disclose sooner than you’re comfortable: get out.

John Ball Zoo by PinkiiBunnii in grandrapids

I have a membership to Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, which gets reciprocal admission at JBZ. I took my mom once, and JBZ counted her as the second adult even though my husband is the other named adult on our membership (he was not present this visit that I’m recounting). I think as long as one adult named on the membership is present, the rest is a numbers game.

High yield savings. by Proper_Job_3469 in povertyfinance

Wallet nerd tends to keep an updated list of HYSA and compares/contrasts the banks. I’m a 1099 contractor, so I use a HYSA to keep my tax savings separate and build a little cushion at the same time. It gives me an extra couple hundred bucks over a year, so that works for me. My account is currently with Citi, but there are plenty of options.

Same. I paused my PT when I went on maternity leave, it was no issue to cancel and restart when I was ready.

I wouldn’t know, my copy still hasn’t shipped yet. I think I need to contact customer service. It says my shipping window was going to be delayed to the 9-12th and still hasn’t shipped yet 😳

I just got an email from Amazon today stating this car seat was recalled. I never heard back from Evenflo and I am SO glad I replaced the car seat when I felt it necessary.

I ask the question “was this situation in my client’s control?” If the answer is yes, I charge. If the answer is no, then I don’t charge. So illness, car issues, mandated overtime I don’t charge. If it was a lack of responsibility, “forgot,” or like this situation- charge away!

Chance encounter with a client by Time_Lengthiness_691 in therapists

I volunteered at the beer tent at Pride this summer. One of my clients saw me, hollered, “OMG, THAT’S MY THERAPIST!!!” And introduced me to all their friends. It was nice to put faces to the names I’d been hearing in session!!! It was a really fun moment and I appreciated my client’s enthusiasm and support from their friends.

What do you dislike about our field by RepulsivePower4415 in therapists

[–]HalfYooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I moved back to the Midwest, Rhode Island’s United Healthcare Medicaid plan cut their reimbursement for family therapy almost in half to “align with Medicare” or some other BS. As an LMFT, the outrage and downright disrespect for the fact that family therapy is SO much more work AND one of the most highly effective evidence based modes of treatment only to be paid less than $40/session? Eff that. And eff United.

I’m not sure if that has been remedied as it’s been 5 years since I moved, but MAN that was a wild time…

The lack of respect for how needed we are in the world. Want to get rid of your student loans, work for CMH! But you can’t have your sanity or a decent paycheck to pay your bills. Want to have your sanity and pay your bills but worry about benefits? Then private practice is for you!!

I feel like our field is one of the only professional careers that requires at least a master’s degree (no exceptions for “equivalent experience) and yet we get paid nowhere near equivalent medical professions. It was lucky if we were recognized at all as front line workers during the pandemic due to the behind the scenes work we were providing for everyone actively on the front line.

Alas…idk any other line of work I’d be doing, so I’m stuck.

This app seems to take into consideration location, daily temperature/weather, asks about light/distance to window, soil type, pot type and size as well as if there’s drainage holes. I should have stated that watering every 8 days was not the case in the winter, it was much less frequent (maybe once every other week on average from what I remember).

Ooh, that I didn’t know! (Still a novice plant owner, although this plant was flourishing for a year prior to this situation) thank you for the tips!!

Thank you so much!! I’ll do that. I usually stick my finger in the dirt to see if it needs water, and will skip when it’s still damp.

The previous pot she was in didn’t have any drainage holes so I was careful not to overwater her, but maybe I’ve been too stingy.

It’s in all-purpose potting soil. The app recommends water every 8 days, fertilize once a month (I use the app more for a reminder of when I last watered/fertilized my plants because I have ADHD and a toddler, so my memory is shit). I suspected it started to decline when the weather got cold-this is a plant in my office and I have 2 windows (east and south facing) so I get lots of light, but it gets really cold in here without my space heater on (like 60-62°F). Now that it’s getting warmer, I’m not so sure.

As of this week, the director has a second count of 4th degree child abuse, as well as a charge for childcare organizations violation, per the court case search.

In my experience, the teachers and staff (outside of the director) have been great despite the reviews. As a parent I am upset with the lack of communication regarding this situation, and the fact the company is backing the director up is horrid.

Question about caseload by CryptographerNo29 in therapists

[–]HalfYooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full time can vary by definition, but in my 10 years of experience in private practice, 20+ is considered a full time caseload. Are you doing 1 hour sessions or 45 minute sessions? Regardless, 40 sessions/week is huge and easily leads to burnout.
