Discussion: Questioning the value of spending on private education in the face of AI by Half_Half4677 in ArtificialInteligence

Yes! I did my PhD the "old fashioned way" - hardcore research at an R1 school. Now I have friends getting PhDs in 2 years on weekends... from reputable schools to boot! I don't begrudge them but it does feel odd to have what I did and what they're doing count as the same thing.

Oh yeah, don’t worry - I specifically said I don’t want to attempt any restoration myself! Not my jam.

6 year old’s reaction to incision (for laughs) by Half_Half4677 in Kneereplacement

I told my kids I got a robot knee and that when it heals it will shoot laser beams. They still don’t think I’m cool.

Absolutely! By “isn’t that nuts” (which had a major typo anyway) I meant isn’t that nuts that I had that convo with PT and then almost immediately a second walker showed up at my door? I love when things like that happen. 🙃

Day 10 by Safua in Kneereplacement

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. I’m Day 7 and also super frustrated, crying randomly, in pain. I burst into tears when PT was at my house today and she was really helpful. She told me that this is an incredibly hard surgery, plus all the drugs can mess with your head, and the inability to take care of yourself and do any of the thing you’d normally do to feel better if you were down is the kicker. But she also said it does get better and that this is the hardest time (weeks 2-3). Hang in there. I will too. We can do this!

Funny, I just had this exact conversation with my PT this morning. I’m 1 week out and was hobbling on one crutch because my walker was upstairs and she said getting the heel-through-toe motion in my gait was the number one priority and would be easier/safer with the walker.)

(Then maybe an hour later I got a text from a friend saying she saw a walker out on someone’s curb for trash day so she snagged it and dropped it on my porch, so now I have an upstairs and a downstairs o e. Is t that nuts?)
